Jim's first OG journal-Bodhi, Cannaventure, Shoreline

Thank you! I’m glad I waited a couple more days before throwing the reversed plant out

Howdy Jim,

That “Gollira” Glue #4 clone is looking like it has HLVD. Did the place provide any test results for the mother plant?

No, they didn’t. Maybe they had it but I didn’t ask. I’ve gotten clones from them (Kind Love in Denver) before with no issues so I didn’t really think about it. Would you mind telling me what you see that makes you think HLVD? I haven’t really looked into it too much

Do you see the branch structure and how it’s doing a zig-zag? Like scoliosis. I’m no expert by any means, it’s just the most defining feature I’ve noticed in HVLD infected plants. I’d send them an email asking about it, you might get some mula back or another cut for free.

I will send them an email to see if they test, but it’s a 10 hour drive for me and a $20 clone so I’m not too worried about getting another cut. I’ve been researching HLVD more since you mentioned that, and it seems like something I’ll have to start watching for. Thanks for the new rabbit hole!

Day 21
Still stretching. Im hoping it’ll start to slow down soon so I don’t have to climb up and raise the lights more

I’ve done a little research on HLVD and I don’t notice any symptoms other than the crooked growth mentioned by @Mr.Christmas I’m hoping it’s just stretchy from being further from the lights than the others.

Starting to fill up the grow space.

Happy growing, everyone!

I made an isolation chamber to prevent my entire crop from getting pollinated and figured I’d share the process with you guys. Hopefully someone finds this useful. If you Google “male isolation chamber” you can find the inspiration for this project, I’m not claiming it as my idea.

I used a pet food container, computer fan, furnace filter, and duct tape

I used the pet food container because it has a pretty good seal under the lid

Next I cut two pieces of furnace filter the same size as the computer fan and taped them to the bottom in a double layer. Make sure the fan is pulling air through and not pushing it

I also cut a piece for the intake. I didn’t measure it, I just cut it. Then I cut a hole in the front a little smaller than the intake filter

I cut one in the lid a little smaller than the fan/filter

I waited until I had all the cutting done and cleaned up before I put the filters on to prevent little pieces from getting stuck in them.

Then taped on the intake

And the computer fan, filter down

Now we’re ready to test it. I put my meter in there to see how humid it gets by tomorrow.

Reversed clone

It looks like it will comfortably fit at least 4 small plants

Now I just tuck it in a corner in my grow space and hope for the best

I haven’t tried this before, but I don’t see how it won’t work.

Happy growing everyone

I like it.

I wonder if you could mount a small led in there without creating too much heat.

I bet you could do a LED light bulb, but I don’t know if I would do a grow light. Here’s the results after being in there overnight. Not too much of a change from last night

Day 28 update

I think I got a picture of a branch of the #2 that was leaning over last week. This plant looks like it’s going to be really slow, or just not yield very much

This one has by far the biggest buds. I’m not sure if it’s going to be a heavy yielder or a fast finisher, but it’s the furthest along at this point

This one’s the frostiest of the bunch

I’m keeping my isolation chamber sealed as much as possible. The pollen sacks looked ready to burst when I watered it yesterday, I’ll check again this weekend and hopefully I’ll have some pollen by then.

I’ll try to take better pictures as the buds start developing more

Day 35 update

The Purple Lemon Thais are definitely sativa leaning. They both have the super narrow leaves and look like they’re going to take a long time to flower

This one looks like it won’t yield much at all. This is probably the biggest bud on the plant

This one is stacking much better

I really like the way this one is turning out

This one has some space between the nodes, but it has a lot of branches so I think it will do alright on yield

This one’s the frostiest so far. It’s much more stout than the other mother’s milk hashplant too

The GG4 is coming along really nice too. It’s super frosty, the buds are as frosty as the mmhp #2, it just doesn’t come out onto the leaves as far

I think the reversal failed on the Mendo Breath. All the pollen sacks were open, but no pollen that I could see. I’ll try again another time. I didn’t have this clone rooted too well, it only had nubs when I put it soil and flipped to flower. Maybe that was my problem

Hey everyone. Day 43 update. Everything’s moving right along. I’m having a hard time keeping my environment where it’s supposed to be, I’m at about 90°F, 60% humidity but everything seems to be taking it pretty well. The Purple Lemon Thais are touching the light, there’s some discoloration, but not as much as I thought there would be. I had a hard time on my last run with deficiencies on branches close to the light, but it was my first time with LEDs and I wasn’t feeding as strong as I should have been

Day 49 update

Both Purple Lemon Thais are still stretching and have grown through the light. I can’t go up any higher without redoing my wiring so I’ll just have to deal with it. I’m hoping these won’t go longer than 14-16 weeks. I don’t mind growing a long flowering sativa, I just wasn’t expecting it on this run

Shishkaberry x Old Widow Hashplant is going to be a good yielder, which is a pleasant surprise. The few pictures that I’ve seen looked like it was going to have small buds

Both of the Mother’s Hashplants look like they’re going to be the first ones done. I’m hoping for 2-3 more weeks on the #2 and not much after that for the #1. I’m glad to have gotten two different phenos so that I can see some of the variety in this strain

The GG4 is coming along, but I definitely could have done better with it. I think it will do well enough that I’ll be able to tell if it’s the real deal

I’ve been reading up on the GG4 and most of what I’ve read has said to take it at about 65 days. I’m not sure this one will be ready that quick but I guess a lot can happen in a couple weeks

Day 56 update

Purple Lemon Thai #1 finally starting to grow some flowers

Purple Lemon Thai #2 hard to get a single bud in the same picture. They’re all about 18" long

Shishkaberry x Old Widow Hashplant I’m glad this one is the closest to the fan. I’ve never had buds this big without getting a little bit of bud rot

Mother’s Hashplant #1 starting to foxtail a little bit

Mother’s Hashplant #2 I could probably talk myself into harvesting this one if I really needed to, but I think I’ll give it another week or two

GG4 really didn’t take the 90°F heat as well as the other plants. I plan on running this one again whenever the weather allows for better temperature control

Have a great rest of the week everyone!

I hope everyone’s having a great weekend. I’m probably going to finish out this journal with harvest pics. The Purple Lemon Thais are getting hard to take pictures of, and the GG4 is getting less photogenic every day. Hopefully next time I grow it I’ll be able to control my temperature better.

Mother’s Hashplant #2, day 67
I had to cut everything down branch by branch. I only used the net for support, I didn’t try to scrog it but it would still be too hard to get the full plant out in one piece.

All of the lowers were this size

The main branches were too flimsy to hold right side up. I don’t know if that’s a feature of the plant or if the net didn’t allow enough room to wiggle and get stronger

It completely filled up my drying rack

I always feel like I take my plants too early no matter how long I take them. I’ve taken plenty of plants that were supposed to be 10 weeks all the way to 14 weeks and still felt like it was too early. I decided to cut this one because it seemed like all new growth was just foxtails, and the trichs looked about 90% cloudy.

This one was the frostiest one in this grow and handled the extreme temperatures the best so it may be a real keeper or at least worth running again. I kept a clone of everything in this grow, so I’ll decide whether or not to run again after a smoke test. I’ll post here and probably in the bodhi thread after I get a chance to smoke it a few times.

Thanks for following along everyone. Have a great weekend

Awesome!

Here’s my PLT

That looks great! Just a heads up, I took mine at 20 weeks and I still think it was another 4-6 weeks from being done. I just needed the space so I had to chop early

Tag me if you start a grow journal. I’d like to see how yours turns out

Will do if I write a grow journal.

Uff da.

Well my watermelon hash plant x everything looks like she’s gonna take forever to flower as well.

What light schedule did you run? I’m hoping 11 on 13 off will help but it’s all pretty new to me.

I do 24/0 in veg and 12/12 in flower. Nothing special for me. That whole grow was running hot though, around 90F. The PLTs were touching the light and definitely too close. Note the burnt up leaves. Not trying to wait for foxtails to finish might shorten the flower time
