Jim's ongoing OG journal

So far everything is going well. Sorry I’m not updating more regularly, I always seem to run out of time by the end of the day

Scarlet Grapes day 68
I found a couple of clusters of balls. I’m not too concerned with it, it’s pretty late in the grow. I just plucked them off and will keep an eye out for more. Both clusters were right at the node where I topped it the second time so I’m not sure if it’s stress related

It looks like the scarlet coloring is coming in nicely

Day 72

I noticed a little bit of tip burn so I cut back on the fertilizer a bit, other than that this has been a really easy, stress free grow so far. Easily the best one I’ve done in a small container

Day 28 for the strawberry temple
It seems like the pollen worked. These will be my first intentionally pollinated plants so I don’t really have any experience doing this. A lot of the hairs have turned and the calyxes are swelling up on the branches that I pollinated so I’m guessing that it’s working

Day 32

Scarlet Grapes update
I think this one is just about done. I’m probably going to take it to 90 days just to get a round number, but I think I could probably take it at any time

You can really see which side is closest to the light on the last picture. It only started doing that about a week ago, but I can’t stress enough how easy this plant is to grow. It smells like rotten fruit at this point, I can’t wait to see how it smells after it’s dry

Strawberry Temple update
Another plant that’s easy to grow (so far). I need to adjust my watering timer as I haven’t watered to runoff in a few weeks. It’s supposed to be a no no in coco to not have any runoff, but I don’t think they look too unhealthy. I am watering 3 times a day so the coco is plenty moist, but I’m not going to push my luck much further

Thanks to everyone for stopping by to have a look. Have a great night!

Hey, everyone. Sorry, for the long period between updates, I had a somewhat major medical issue for the first time in my life and it made it very difficult to do anything that requires any thinking. I seem to be over it for now, but it sure was a long couple of weeks.

On to the update
Scarlet Grapes came down on day 90

After an 8 day dry

It’s not this stemmy, I just picked a few buds that showed off the purple really well

I can’t get a good picture that shows just how frosty this is, I got this little box with a magnifier and a little light

I’m not really good at identifying different kinds of fruit, but I’ve had some strains smell similar. Tangie Berry, Bitties from Solfire, and I think it was Deathstar that all have a similar smell. This is real happy weed. Kind of makes you grin at inappropriate times

Thanks again for the opportunity to grow this @blowdout2269 I’m definitely going to grow a few more of these

The Strawberry Temples suffered a bit of a drought during my recovery. My water tanks got empty for a couple of days, and on top of that the shutoff switch for my heater went out and it got up to 106F for a couple of days. They were droopy at first, but they all recovered well, with almost no damage to 3 out of 4 plants. One of them (my #4) has some lighter leaves and dropped a bunch of lower leaves, but seems to be growing well now. I have some pictures from a week ago that I’m just now getting around to posting

Thanks again for stopping by everyone. I really appreciate the community that we have here

I also want to say thank you to everyone involved in the co-op boxes. @Dirt_Wizard , your Vortex grow was the first that I’ve had the pleasure of watching from beginning to end since joining OG and you really knocked it out of the park. @Pigeonman , I really enjoyed watching your Yogi run, I like how much your personality shines through in your journals. I’m thinking these seeds are going on the short list to be grown out by the end of the year. And of course @DougDawson , the most generous man on the Internet. I followed you over here from RIU and I found a community that I really enjoy over here. You make growing look so easy, and I can’t wait to get into those Sweet and Sour Cindy’s. I also chose the Sour Bubble as one of my additional strains and I think that’s going on the short list next to the Yogi’s. I don’t know that I commented on any of those threads, I just don’t want to be the guy that says “looks fire” and throws up a bunch of emojis and moves on until next week. You all are very much appreciated around here. @G-paS , I also appreciate you getting these boxes together, and this year on top of it we get some extra seeds from the past boxes. Thank you all so much

You’re right, I definitely should. Thank you @Going2fast , your Scarlet Grapes is an amazing strain. I wish I could have cloned this one. Yours is one of the grow journals that I enjoy the most. Everything you grow looks like a centerfold

Sounds like they’ve been through a wild ride!

Those strawberry temples look amazing @jim. I wonder if bushing out like that is a temple trait… Low and wide with big fat nugs all over the top.

What smells are you getting from them?

They had a rough week, but they bounced back better than anything I’ve seen before. I’ve had plants that if you missed a watering it would never recover and I just had to limp to the finish line. I’ve had some cherry queens, 3 different females that hit 90F for just a few hours and threw nanners for the rest of the grow. The worst of these was just some yellowed leaves. They’re very hardy plants

I don’t know about it being a trait because I always top my plants. I think @BeagleZ plants were pretty bushy too. I think I’ve seen a couple of other people growing strawberry temple recently, but that’s the only other complete grow that I’ve seen.

As far as smells go, the number 5 doesn’t really have a strong smell. The number 3, which is my early favorite, has a strong mixed berry smell. It seems like this pheno might finish a week or 2 earlier than the others. The number 4 smells like strawberry milk, the drink not the strain, and may very well end up being my favorite. The number 8 smells like menthol with a little bit of berry behind it, but neither smell is very strong

Yeah, they did bush out for sure, although could have been my lack of training

That #3 is lookin A LOT like my fruity pheno keeper that I lost.

Keep up the good work!!

Thanks for coming by. Your journal was the deciding factor in growing this strain. I hope it looks as good as yours by the time I’m done with them. I appreciate the kind words

Thanks for stopping by. I remember watching your grows on the GWE site 5 or 6 years ago. You really have a special touch with both the photos and the autos
