Still have 3 ladies outside… I’ve cut out some rot here and there, not much, and hoping not much more… Practically no fan leaves left on em, if we keep going like this I wont have much trim jail time… Rain here today, most of this week is high humidity and partly cloudy :frowning:

At least its not “all my eggs” in the outside basket… but I’d rather not lose any

Morning everyone. Sorry to hear about the weather there @Nagel420 i had to pull my outdoor ladies a week early for that same reason, real bummer for sure

I’m holding out hope @LegsMahoney . I see a touch of amber, but I really want a little more TBH… Its funny, but the rest of the year I don’t even care what the humidity levels are, but this time of season, its the FIRST number I look at in the weather reports.

Damned if I do, damned if I don’t. I tried autos this summer thinking “Great, they’ll finish before frost, and wet fall weather.” And then its a wet as hell summer. Those autos looked so shitty, I just processed them completely for hash. They had been looking ok, even felt dense, then august hit and they went south. bud rot, larfy wierd, airy buds that WERE firm and dense a few weeks earlier.

Still gonna try autos outside next year, but this time they go out in early May so they can finish in the heat of July!

I did the same thing this year! Put out one auto, ended up getting aphids, fought those off, ended up getting bud rot in the wet condition. I ended up just hacking the thing down and throwing it into the compost pile I got so frustrated. Will for sure try again next year, everyone I’ve talked to around here just said it was a rough year for outdoor so try try again right

Greetings Maestro!
I am reading this excellent thread as if it were an adventure novel, which is to say that I’m not going to cheat and jump to the ending. It is mid October 2021 now, so the answer to my question may be buried a couple thousand posts below!.

Regarding foliar feeding with SuperThrive. I have a nice grow in progress, week 6 of Gorilla Cookies flower, a nice spread of 25 colas and, amazingly, none of the usual near-harvest problems. Everything is on track but my mind turns to optimizing and I wonder if foliar SuperThrive is a possible option for bulking up my buds?

On an earlier outdoor grow I was burned, literally, following some dumb advice to treat a minor Thrip infestation by spraying my very mature buds with an alcohol/water spray. That killed the vermin for sure, but the direct sunlight on the droplets fried most of the harvest.

I Won’t make that mistake again but I’m asking your advice on whether SuperThrive foliar would be of any benefit during the final bud bulk up? Do you recommend it? How often? What dilution?

Many thanks for any advice your or the other OG gurus might have.

PS, growing old is easier if you have a passion, like the one we share. Agreed?

I’d be leary myself of spraying anything during the final few weeks.

As for the alcohol spray and thrips. A good general rule of thumb for spraying almost anything, including plain water, is do it in the evening. Even droplets of water can act as a magnifying glass with sunshine, and most other things dry quicker, rather than being absorbed, if in the sunlight, which leaves behind residue that can burn them as well.

I’m sure @JohnnyPotseed will chime in with his wisdom as well

Echoing what @Nagel420 said, try not to spray late into flower unless it’s a necessary IPM thing, and even then it’s only specific organic stuff that’ll volatize in time for harvest. Nothing I know that would swell buds by foliage, but the man @JohnnyPotseed will be here I’m sure to drop some knowledge. Watch your toes.

Mornin’!

Ugh. Spent yesterday from 10am to 9pm in a constant state of “Surprise Trim Jail”. The humidity staying at 85%+ over the past week has pushed the crop past the point of dimminishing returns to keep both PM and Bud Rot at bay.

I took down the Pink Cookies & 1/2 of my White Widow x Critical Orange. Prob gonna do the gelato today, Kosher Kush tomorrow.

Really was hoping for drier days but no dice :confounded:

I hear ya man. I really wanted one more week on my outside stuff, but heavy rain tonight. Dry tomorrow. Then three days of wet weather. I went ahead and chopped. With that much rain expected, it would be Spring before they would be dry again, with mold.

I’ve got a line on some plant umbrellas if ya need!

uh yer scaring me… Thats my forecast for the week, rain today, partly cloudy all week with higher humidity. rain next weekend.

guess I’m grabbing the microscope and heading outside shortly, hoping I see enough ambers I can be happy chopping… Only pulled out two little nugs with bud rot so far, and they were in contact with a fallen tree leaf (I swear that makes hot spots for bud rot). Problem is a WHOLE lot more will be coming down…

Short answer?, YES…Super thrive helps in ANY way you use it cuz! foliar or soil drench, I do both. When I hit them plants with the JWA (Jadam Wetting Agent) I toss some in then as well

Also using alcohol in final stages is a big no no, the alcohol kills the THC! use it only during veg cycle cuz. then it’s good to go.

As to what strength SuperThrive to use, just follow the directions on the bottle…

Also, always do any spraying at sundown or when you turn out the lights for indoors.

However @GrouchyOldMan , I stop using anything but straight Ph’d water the last couple weeks, so the natural flavors aren’t masked by choker chems of any sort.
