Nice one. I don’t think it would be anything to do with the SIP, the SIP is just a way a watering system for the plant…??? Just an outloaud thought.
Hey mate
I think it may be more heat related, or just a shitty plant. Battling with the summer temps again as I do every year. I can keep temps a couple of degrees above ambient, but ambient is in the low 30’s at times.
Never mind, I’ll try the last 2 Purple Punch seeds in March or April when temps drop down.
Cheers Johnny
heat or disease; if it weren’t crispy i’d say disease, like damping off…in which case the leaves go crispy right AFTER it dies.
Glad you got some seeds made though!
Keep us up to date with the viability of those few seeds you got. You’re poping a couple right?
It’s awesome you managed to self the same auto anyway Johnny good work
just a follow-up thought: in case that Purple Punch/dead plant WAS infected, I would dispose of the soil since it’s a small amount.
Hey canna
Yea sometimes things don’t go well, some times they don’t make it. The other plant is doing ok with the temps so I’m leaning towards a disease of some sort.
I’ve removed it and binned all contents just to make sure.
I too am glad with the seeds, will try and germinate a couple next month I think and see how they go.
Thanks for stopping by
Cheers Johnny
Hey invisible
I’m not expecting any thing with the immature seeds, but keeping the fingers crossed just in case.
These seeds aren’t from the selfed plant, there from the first plants I tried reversing a couple of months ago. I didn’t think it worked but noticed some balls lower down around the 7 week mark and tools what little pollen I got and dusted the next lot I had planted.
The selfed plant is still going just.
Cheers Johnny
I must’ve read wrong. Yeah those two on their patmalone probablly won’t do anything but who knows.
Yep I read it wrong. Yeah the self plant looks tired lets keep the fingers crossed for some success on that one for you
Ok i had about an hour to myself this arvo, so I finished de seeding the one plant and ended up with 62 viable looking seeds, and a small amount of whities (10 total)
And a close up of some of the seeds. Sorry about the out of focus, took it with a phone camera.
I’ll try the other plant probably next Monday night. Wife works late, and am hoping the daughter is to.
Until next update
Cheers Johnny
Congrats mate. They look nice and healthy, healthier than some I’ve swapped coin for. Gotta be happy with that.
Agree looking good Johnny!
Hey guys
.
Certainly am happy with the results so far.
So I took to the other plant today and had a poke around looking for seeds and came up with theses
About 90 + so far from this one, there is still some left but I’ll get them latter.
The non viable ones
Thé 5 on the right I stuck in some water and see if they crack, they looked borderline.
I also took out the reversed female that I self pollinated and checked the seed production progress. I had 3 fall out by them selfs when I was handling the plant.
You can see the seeds popping out
Thé 3 look ok, but I’ll let the plant go another week if I can. It been 4 weeks now since I pollinated the flowers, however some could have selfed them self before I did.
I’m thinking that I’ll make up a couple of packs and send them out to the Aussie crew when I get the next package from MOTR from the preservation runs. If you boys want them that is???
Cheers Johnny
Looking good Johnny in the first pic plent of vialble looking seeds there and from what I uunderstand is that if the seeds are falling out they are ready…?
Be interesting to see if those 3 from the self polintion germinate.
Thanks for the update
I’ll do some germination testing soon and see how they go
Cheers Johnny
Weekly update 19/1/20
Day 47 ( nearly 7 weeks )
8
Close up
That all that’s growing at the moment, will try some germination tests in a couple of weeks, but don’t want to start too much until the summer heat starts to die down.
Until next time
Cheers Johnny
Weekly update 26/1/20
Day 54
Happy Australia Day
The only plant going at this time, slowly coming along
And a couple of close ups
Also took the selfed bud of the reversed plant and sorted out the seeds. This is what it looked like after harvesting the last of the seeds.
This is what I got, sorry about the focus on the first photo. 15 that look viable, 4 not.
Another in focus shot, and for the keen eyed, yes only 14 in this shot as 1 stuck to the container when taking this shot. Only realised after putting everything away.
So as I said I’ll do some germination tests in a couple of weeks, thinking 2 of each. Heat is a big issue with the summer in full swing atm, but I need to time finishing at Easter time as I’m going away for a week’s holidays and want to harvest before I go.
Until next week
Cheers Johnny
Good luck with the germ from the selffed plants
Ok update time
16/2/20
The last plant now harvested at 9 weeks and hanging to dry
And a couple of closeups
Next I soaked 2 of each seed variety to see what popped. Soaked for 24 hours, then paper towel for 24 and this is what I found
And the next day 1 more
Now all 5 where planted, at about 3 days from sprouting.
But the 1 that was “circling “ on its self is well?? Not going to make it I think
So that was 5 from 6 germed
2 from 2 for the selfed plant
2 from 2 from plant number 5 (darker pheno)
And 1 from 2 from plant number 6 (green pheno) and this one is the distorted one
So I think seeds are viable, let’s see how they develop.
Until next time
Cheers Johnny
Hey nice one johnny! awesome that the selfed seeds poped thats great now you know the process and that it works and can keep on having a steady suppy of seeds.
