Landrace Expansion & Trade

Haha this is an excellent post.
I’m even younger. My peak “wafting weed smoke” nostalgia comes from the 90’s.
The elderly pony-tailed hippy who lived above the neighborhood sushi bar used to post up in front of the restaurant every night and smoke a really really fat blunt. This was the first time I ever saw someone calmly smoke weed in public like it was no big deal.

It looked like it was rolled with an actual high end cigar, not just some swisher sweet or something. That was the skunkiest weed smoke I ever smelled in my life. The cigar must have contributed to the smell, but I always wonder what he was rolling in those things.

I also used to see groups of older black men in my neighborhood smoking on the corner or hot-boxing their cars. Their smoke was always very sweet and perfume smelling, pretty much the opposite of the skunk weed that the hippy was smoking.
They called it tea, reefer, poison, or thai. I never knew it was weed until years later.

Pretty sure the first time I got high was at a Roger Waters concert in 2006.
It was at an outdoor venue on a hill overlooking a rocky beach, but somehow the crowd managed to hotbox an outdoor amphitheater. I’ve never seen anything like it.

I was out of my mind with joy when they released a 30 foot long pig balloon with search lights for eyes. I kept expecting them to reel the pig back down, but after they did a lap of the amphitheater, they just cut that shit loose, and let it float off into the night. You could see the search light eyes fading into the distance like the directional lights on a 747. fucking crazy.

Hope you can see structure better, cannot wrap a hand around the base of the rockets and the mains are longer that elbow to tips of fingers. Really smelling clove honey. Can’t smell much of anything but Platinum Pineapple anymore, nice plants gonna take at least one of three all the way in DWC to see how it compares to one in soil.

Number one these threads are a little weird to navigate when they get this big im more used to pages than one long spread, two afghans… are a weird subject. I dont know if things have changed or there just arent and wernt that many “classic” broad leaf super squat afghans. I have seen some afghans from the late 60’s/ early 70’s that were more narrow leaf, apparently 80’s import paki and affies were mostly quite broad n squat. Not sure if that had anything to do with the war tbh. Northern afghanistan seems to have always been taller plants and more narrow leaf than youd think, pakistanis seem to import their seeds from afghanistan and they intermix with the narrow leaf “highland hashplant” types. Im told that only goes one way and pakistani seeds are not imported to afghanistan though idk why that would be as the afghan pakistan border is rather porous and the tribal people in those areas really dont care where afghanistan ends on the map. Then you have this, some super squat broad leaf kashmiri found in neelum valley so maybe most of the primordial broad leafs have went the way of the equatorial narrow leafs and are hybridized as well🤷‍♂️ I have stock of that neelum and am planning on doing a repro soonish

Hey I was wondering if you still have the plants all separated out by seed shape. Are the round ones supposed to be ladies? Or is it the base shape that matters, where the seed

used to be attached to the plant? Or Just if it rolls smooth or not? How’s the Tashkenti doing?

Howdy there @TheCrueltyDesk, That’s a nice looking plant. Did you do anything special to get germination?

I think yr spot on. Most highland hash plants have been hybridized at some point. It shows up as a pheno in various cultivars from the north side of the hindu kush, but pure types are now rare. Great repro candidate. Reminds me of deep chunk a bit. My old afghani has very broad leaves, but tbh I never paid much attention before to see if there are more narrow leaf types too. Interesting the earlier Afghanis were narrow alot. Mine is from 75.

I have seen some that were broad from back then as well, pride of afghanistan was about as broad as they come, and i believe that line was from the 70’s. Im not growing that neelum yet sorry for the confusion thats somebody else who is on ig. I have plans to repro the line though. Im gonna do a deep chunk run, then those & yes those fat cabbage leaves on the neelum remind me of deep chunk as well

Man I just flew by this picture and had to pull back, did you ever see about getting that purple beast back… some of the most beautiful buds ive seen…:metal::sunglasses:

Here’s a quick update on the @lefthandseeds Triple Durban Day 70. Still hairy as hell but the small tightly grouped nuggets are getting dense and swelling with resin, she’s backing off nutes so I’ll probably let it run dry for a chop, telling me she’s almost there. Sorry forgot the bud porn, I love the symmetry it’s like synchronized swimming with kolas even the nodes rotated in unison. If I move the bamboo they flop to the ground with weight…:metal::sunglasses:
