That’s pretty cool, man. That’s like the town I live in now. It’s very close with Italian, Spanish, and Mexican in the heritage. The people are so nice and everyone looks out for each other. Lots of volunteering around here. I really feel like a part of the larger community for a change. Glad you were there to help them. Very awesome.
Good thing you were around. They are lucky to have you for a neighbor!
I talked to khalifa genetics and he is very happy to see Beldia reproduced. He loves the Morrocan.
I told him I’d give him the link to the thread when it happens. The Baharak and Tora Bora can be reproduced whenever you are ready.
But with the owner or Khalifa ( adam)looking on, is there any chance of waiting until March or so for that one, even February. The reason I’m asking is that you live in the perfect climate for Beldia, and the sun is much stronger that time of year. A February planting would harvest in May, a March planting in June. This would still give plenty of time for the pollen to die before your main season, and the Beldia would really shine, not to mention you would still beat the Heat . but It’s just a thought. I don’t mind waiting. .
To be honest, I’m a little worried that the sun sitting so low in the sky wouldn’t allow for proper flower formation, even at your latitude. Waiting a few more months the sun will be going higher and higher in the sky everyday, and by mid flower the plants should really be humming. It’s hard for an Upstate New Yorker to fathom growing anything outside this time of year LOL. My main concern is that there won’t be enough flowering sites too produce enough seeds if the attempt is made now. Some of the beldia already have very loose flower structures in the middle of summer. My calculations have the Sun at your location at about 35 degrees pitch to the ground on December 21st. In New York, by the end of October, flowering is drastically slowed down even in a greenhouse. At that time of year our sun is at that same 35-degree pitch to the ground. It just doesn’t have good intensity anymore. By mid February the sun in your location would be back up to around 45° pitch, which is what the sun is at in my location by mid April, which happens to be a good time to start plants. If your experiences are different, please disregard my concerns. Believe me when I tell you I completely understand the big project you have undertaken with your new building. If you would like to wait to reproduce all three of the land races, that’s just fine as well. I would rather have them do well so we will all truly see what these genetics can do. I’m a bit concerned they ( baharak and tora bora) would want to re vegetate after the solstice, which is only a month-and-a-half away, but I have no basis for my concern. I would think the days would be short enough for flowering to continue even though the days are getting longer.
Of course I highly value your opinion as I consider this a joint venture. Let me double check a few things because I do plan to veg indoors for 3-4 weeks, then outside to flower. Once they are sexed, chosen males will be kept isolated from each other indoors. I have had plants flower outdoors through the solstice with no ill effects. I have also had plants in flower through the equinox that did re-veg and flower again with mixed results. Because of the intensity of the sunlight and the high number of days with no clouds, flowering might not be optimal during this time with less daylight, but the low humidity and high amount of UV usually helps resin production. Our late Fall and Winter actually match up pretty closely in temperature and humidity with Humboldt County around Garberville during their Summer and early Fall. I’m in Zone 9a and everything is so different from the rest of the country that I have really had to learn a lot on my own because not many are dealing with the same conditions. It’s also possible that I will be able to keep everything indoors for the Beldia preservation depending on what I can acquire for light. Having the Beldia flower in a room with no tent where I can touch the flowers and get the full fragrance seems like it would be a good spot for meditation.
You’ve got it figured out. Like I said, it’s hard for an Upstate Yorker to fathom growing in the winter outdoors. zone 9a. Wow. I’m zone 4. We had snow 4 times already. Down to 10 degrees. You’re lucky to have that climate to grow in. I’m really looking forward to this repro.
I’m making arrangements now for sufficient lighting indoors my brother. Considering that the Beldia is becoming so rare because of the near monoculture of Critical Mass in Morocco and the premium price of the hash in Europe, I think you are spot on by suggesting that we take extra care. I would also like a sufficient amount of seeds for myself to be able to see if we can find some more desirable flower structure to try for over time. I had forgotten that it was my Mom who originally wanted the Beldia because of the hash she smoked while in Morocco so the significance is even greater to me personally and I hope to have it for a very long time.
That’s right, I couldn’t remember where the Beldia seeds I had left went. I hope mom gets a nice ball of hash from them. Even seeded ou should be able to knock the Kif and trichs off. Been 35 years since Ive had old school black, red and blonde.
They are said to plant Them 7” apart so they grow in a bush And support each other. Only plant as whispy I’ve grown is tha Acapulco Gold from Bodhi.
Yup, and I can’t thank you enough @Instg8ter you know how long I have had to wait through the Summer heat and everything else to get to this point. Things are looking better. There’s a new light on the way and then it’s time to get busy. I’m still here and I’m still down to drown a clown. Or something like that.
amen brotha !!!
I didn’t know you guys were juggalos
Solo how is the retrofit going on that space you picked up this summer?
Thanks @Enjoi802 just got the nigeran landrace beans! Ty ty
Sorry for the slow reply @Tejas! I was incommunicado for a minute. The space is set up fairly well. The toilet to septic tank fix was a nightmare. Water leaks, and cleaning up the tremendous amount of mouse droppings and sanitizing the space was so much work. I’ve had to battle the wild javelina that come right up to the door. They could possibly eat flowering plants. They also hurt the dog I rescued pretty badly.
He saw the vet, got three medicines and is just fine now. Fence building became the mission. Because of that fire that happened nearby, the power company was able to show me that I could still hook up a new breaker box and run line to just the section I need it. The switches were still in place, they just tore out the line and messed up the box. So, I decided to order a new light to start the Beldia and GPS Maverick (GojiOGxStardawg) preservations and keep them inside for the duration of the run. Somehow UPS has failed to deliver my light to the local post office and I’m trying to get them to deliver to the physical address. So, I’m trying to go with the flow without losing my shit, but “soon come” “inshallah” and “whatevs” you know brother. Thank you for asking and I will start the threads for sign up as soon as the path is clear. All praise is due to the Mighty Overgrow the Planet network!!!Well good to hear you are making progress and I am glad your pup did not get hurt worse than it did. javelina’s and feral hogs are not to be messed with! Hopefully UPS will save the day! Good luck!
I got a few beans of Transkei Red (aMaphondo) and Swazi directly from a friend in africa who visits the cannabis farmers, haven’t grown any yet, but will be makin seeds for sure to preserve the genetic.
I also have plans for the Nigerian and Yunan from Last Green Valley. The Yunan seeds look particularly vital and healthy.
I remember going to a Walgreens is Scottsdale for something. Sitting in my rental car in the parking lot with my door open while on my phone.
A mama and her band of porcine spawn came walking across the car park, stopping a couple feet from my open door, all the babies in perfect line behind her. She looked at me with disdain for a few seconds then mobilized her brood and confidently trotted across the balance of the lot.
Welcome to Arizona.
Kev
@CADMAN Sounds like perfect candidate for the vault. Make sure you have enough beans for my new vials also. Lol
man yunnan. would love to run some of those one day on down the line. keep us posted on their progress.
Are you in Texas? That’s the only place I ever saw those. Scary mo fo’s, to be sure.
