Led lighting

Well it’s these discussions we learn from each other

I guess the main question I feel I should be asking is are u also using those lights in flower too and where u feel they “didn’t quite perform” since light requirements triple in flower that’s about the only thing I can put my finger on where u might have noticed the real differences. Might be the defining difference with our grows since mine get thrown out in the greenhouse under natural light to flower so for my use rocking those plants hardcore in veg under em I might not be seeing what I missing out had I been using for flower as well

So maybe I should be adding in, these lights did me extremely well for veg lol

Best tip I have for LED lighting is to run a higher air temperature in the room to keep the leaf surface temperature up. LED lights lack the radiant heat that HID lights have. You can measure the leaf surface temperatures with an IR thermometer to get them up to around 75°F. I find air temperatures of 81-84°F get me in the sweet spot.

I have used it for flowering and it did fine. Where I have noticed the difference is when I grew a bunch of the same plants and needed more room. The tent it is in is right across from my bigger main tent. When I throw a few plants in that tent they developed slower. The plants in my main tent under other lights seem to grow faster and bigger quicker. That’s really the only way I can explain it. The light certainly did the job for me so I still use it and the rectangular design is great for a rectangular tent like my 2x4.

Do your homework and get the best you can afford. There will alway be player haters on brands and just like computer tech it’s changing fast. I run three different SpiderFarmer LED lights and they all work well for my own grow. I don’t sell so I am not in the game for high yields.

I have been using the SPIDER FARMER SF4000 in a tall 3x3 tent:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TXFR69M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It has worked very well for me, but I dont have any recent experience with any other lighting, so I cant compare. I do know that except for in Late Flower I usually have to dim it some to stay within DLI.

1.5m x 1.5m your best bet is gonna be a bar light in the 650-720w range see Marshydro fc/fce 6500, hlg scorpion, growers choice 720 etc but basically anything 650w+ advertised at 2.5+umol/joule should get the job done.

Ya same here for my SF4000 when in veg, led light intensity is crazy bright. I use the SE7000 for flower.

Looks like it’ll do the job

I got a ProFlux Quantum Board 100W QB-1000 recently for 140 EUR, free shipping.
Upgrade from an old 300W Viparspectra blurple that died after about 3 years of use.
I just replaced it and went full power, same hours, the plants immediately loved it!
It’s also water proofed but haven’t tested that yet.
If you’re growing in a tent it might be enough.
You can always get a second one since they’re quite cheap.
And if two is then too much you always dim them!

Any 8 bar led style light will do wonders for that tent. If you wanna get ballsy they are making 10 bar lights now. Medicgrow has nice lights cheap.Products – Medicgrow

The multi light bar setups have a larger area of dispersal of the diodes than the quantum boards which lowers the difference in light intensity of the hotspot in the middle of the lighting area from the lighting areas on the edges. This allows you to keep the light closer to the canopy, with adequate light on the sides without scorching the centers. I have both bar and quantum’s, they both work great.

Also led’s are very intense on vegging plants if you plan on using a single light for veg/flower, make sure you get one with a dimming capability and start veg plants much lower power and ramp up slowly.

My new driver isn’t as long as the old one, so I can’t reach the screw holes…I have one side screwed down securely…but will I be okay just zip-tying the other side down to the plate?

They get hot, a small metal plate drilled to suit would be better.

Once lined up I’d use rivets rather than zip ties to secure it

Spend the $$$ now for a really quality light and what it produces will pay for itself. Also that way you don’t spend more money by buying bad lights or not strong enough so you need to buy more to supplement. If you can something I wish I would’ve done is get a great flower light then also have a 150w or so for a veg tent. Can still veg/flower with big light but take clones keep mother start another round of beans weeks before harvest. My .02$

Ha ha sorry should have looked at date and finished thread. Congrats and happy growing
