Led lighting

The more diodes the higher efficiency per watt.

Is it more worth it for me to buy 3 200w quantum LED or 1 600w quantum LED?

It would depend. How much area are you trying to cover? The 3 200w lights will cover a larger area but the 600w light will produce better growing results in a same area footprint.

Quantum means boards? I’d get the three. Easier to move around for more even coverage, easier if your canopy isn’t even, and handy if you start using other spaces and stuff.

The way I came up with how many watts sq/m my plants need is from Gavita.
I bought the 1700e when it first came out, and it was considered a direct replacement for a 1000w SE HID, in a 4 x 4 area.
The 1700e is 645w. 4 x 4 area is 16 sq/ft/ 645w divided by 16 sq/ft = 40.3. But efficiency has gone up, so its probably gopne down a few watts. Maybe 35w sq/ft. But only using the best diodes, and drivers.
The best LED are “Allegedly” about 1/3 more efficient than a 1000w HID. At that rate, it takes about 666.75w to equal a 1000w HID. This is also assuming you are using the very best diodes. Use anything less, and all bets are off.

I myself would buy the new Mammoth Mint White Series 880w to cover a 5 x 5 area. They are $800. I bought 2 of them. Havent used them yet. We are mainly HID users.
The Mammoth light is very close in spectrum to the sun.
You wont find a better light, at any price, let alone $800. It uses the newest Mint White Series Samsung Diodes. 437nm. And also Red 730nm Diodes.
2711umol. 3456 Diodes, on 8 bars. 880w. The 2 most powerful HLG are 715w, and about 2100umol. Almost 3800 diodes. 6 bars. $1300. The Mammoth is 880w, and 2711umol. 600 more umol. $800
3.1 Efficacy umol
This light is supposed to be like combining Metal Halide/HPS. The best of both worlds. 4800k. But its unbeatable for the money, and what it offers.

three 240w Led or one 1000w Led?

both Lm301h samsung chips

I’ve been rocking a ChilLed X3 330 watt on my veg side, and an Illuminar ILogic 8 Epar 660 watt in the flower room.
Both have done an exceptional job for my setup.
Especially the Ilogic 8

The added UVA and Far Red do make a difference IMO.
Same strain, same nutes, soil, everything grown under each one, and the Ilogic plants were better in just about every instance. Tighter, bigger, frostier buds. Closer node spacing and the closest to the 1,000 watt HPS I was using.
Don’t get me wrong, the X3 did a great job, and don’t have a complaint at all, the ILogic plants were just better.
Customer service from both companies has been spectacular, answer the phone, and reply to Emails promptly.
I did 1 run with a Gavita 1700e that I borrowed from my friend, turned out great, but once I got my light, he stopped over 7 weeks into to flower and couldn’t believe my plants looked so good. He ended up selling his Gavita to his step son, and one upped me, and got an ILogic9
There are MANY good lights out there, in all kinds of different price, and wattage ranges. Folks have gotten good results from $50 dollar lights, it’s all about efficiency, umols and what your wallet can afford.

I know this has probably been asked a million times, but with Black Friday here maybe y’all can give me some pointers…

basically I’m going to be getting a 2x4 for flowering only and keeping my 4x4 as a veg tent to house moms/clones/etc…

I’m pretty set on getting a Magnolia 2 from HighGrove for flowering in the 2x4. it’s about $312 shipped. Not really sure what to do about the veg light though. kinda hoping I can cheap out on that  I currently use one of those old vivosun t5’s for seedlings but that’s definitely not going to cut it anymore.

What do you guys use for vegging your 4x4’s?

Happy Turkey Day btw! :turkey:

I run an roi-240 in my 2x4 for veg and an roi-900 for flower in my 5x5. Absolutely love the roi line from growers choice. If you have the funds for them, i highly suggest getting them

A 400w led fixture will be ok for veg in a 4×4

I’m also in a 2x 4 space. Kind 420, $600 bucks. Total game changer. Separate channels for veg and flower, I get killer results at 50% power.

I’ve noticed folks (including me) buy bushels of lights, trying to save money, or for veg and flower, when we/I could’ve just bought the Cadillac initially and been done with it. Plus, buying LED lights isn’t the Russian roulette it once was, they’re all pretty good these days. Wasn’t that way even five years ago.

Mars Hydro TS2000 probably gona be on sale

This is not related to your lighting but if I could make a suggestion, I would say do this the other way around. You will need more room for flowering than veg and I find most 2x4 tents are not tall enough unless you spend a pile of cash on ones with extensions.

I believe they won’t be flowering everything that inhabits the veg space. They mention mothers so I believe it will be veg and mothers.

I get that but still, take clones from moms, root them and keep them in a smaller space. That’s what I would do anyway. I hate flowering in my 2x4. I mean, I have 3 in there now flowering, kept them small and still this. That’s with the carbon filter removed and lights hung right against the top.

As soon as the bud sites get a bit bigger I will put them back in my 5x5.

To me it makes sense if they don’t have separate space for vegging plants, mothers, rooting clones. Do it all in one. I’m currently in the position where I have a bunch of moms that i’m not trying to flower out, just keep alive. But i’m also trying to bring in new seeds and clones. Lots of veg space needed in relation to flower. I do agree height is usually not great on the smaller tents.

Whatever works for you bud. I just find flowering in such a tiny space is counter productive. I just could not justify having a large space for a bunch of non flowering plants and small space for actually growing them. Especially when you can clone the moms and keep them around in a smaller space. If I vegged my plants in a big tent and moved them to a smaller one they would run out of space super quickly like the ones in the pics. But like I say, to each their own. We all have our own goals. I was just making the suggestion.

And it was the correct one……… imho
