This is the 2nd run of the same cut. It’s got a fruity taste, like berry combined with a soda flavour we call “cream soda” here. Strong, good smoke too. I have too much bud but I still ran this again for smoke. So good man.

Doing a little breeding / seed run with a Purple Poison Cookies male. Throwing it at some @SamwellBB and @Sunvalley gear. Male looks a bit sad as I gave it hell before. Left it in a small pot for too long, had all sorts of weird hours of light that made it start to flower then re veg, then start flower again. Hasn’t hermied throuhout all of it so that’s a good sign

Moaning time…my whole grow, apart from the breeding run has suffered a big setback with root knot nematodes being present in the soil. I’m now stuck with almost a 1000 litres of soil I’ve been building over almost 3 years. The options to get rid of the nematodes are composting marigolds, which I dont have, or solarizing it, which I can do but I’ve got limited space for it. Plus I still have to then test the soil with a grow or 2 to check if the root knot is gone.
I’m trying to build new soil but kinda tricky when you dont know where the root knot came from. I used compost from a local company but that could be a source so I’m making my own but again limited space. Also don’t really know how to properly make compost, my current attempt already smells of ammonia.
I need to restart my wormbins too but how do you make wormbins without any soil?? Pretty frustrating stuff.

Sorry to hear that man, that’s a pain in the butt, have you checked out using benificial predatory nematodes.

For beneficial nematodes Nature’s Good Guys Live Beneficial Nematodes , which contains three different forms to kill off a wide variety of pests. The Steinernema feltiae species is especially vital for pest control including root knot nematodes.

If you can find some now before it gets to cold as they will die in the post of they freeze up you may not have to solarize you soil.

Either way though I think you may have to make some new soil up while your waiting for them to do their work or stop growing for a while.

Thanks, I’ll check to see if we have a product or those bennies available here. I’m in the southern hemisphere so there will be enough heat to solarize soil or use the nematodes for war. Just going to have to do it in batches. Also got looooaads of bud curing right now, could last 4 to 5 months on it, if I smoked hard. And if it does come down to the wire I can just use the soil, plants still produce just not optimal.
Did a bit of soil building today and a good thing is I’m making my own compost now so it will be better than the store bought stuff. Just gotten get it right 1st…almost choked on the ammonium coming off my compost, too much greens.

Here’s a buds from an infested grow, still dank but could’ve been danker

Looks nice, at least the little barstards are not killing the plants completely.

A thousand liters is a lot to process in one go, so small amounts at a time is a good idea. If you can get the bennies and get a good bit of soil thriving with them you could gradually add more soil to it and remove some good soil, and that should get it inoculated faster without the root knots re establishing themselves as they would get over run quickly.

Yeah didn’t even realize I had them was only when I ripped up a plant and saw the weird looking roots. The seem to weaken the stalks so I had very floppy plants but the buds still seem to grow fine.

I think I should check my old plants roots now and again, normally I just leave them in the pot to break down and feed the worms. I did not know about root knot until I read your post.

I’m was doing the same thing, just had a plant that hermied and I needed the pot so ripped it up and saw the issue. I recycle the old soil too as filler so that’s how I managed to spread it almost every where.

I have alfalfa growing in my pots not being used atm, they make big roots, I will pull them out and take a look, see if there is any problems. I was going to put all my soil in my 3 cubic yds wormbin/composter earlier this year, when I shut down for mite problems. It’s easy to spread problems when you don’t know you have them

Oh guess what… the root knot fuckers only target specific plants so you’ll have to check if alfalfa is even affected by them. Fun and games when it comes to pests :frowning:

Thats just typical lol, I am taking down some Purple Kush autos today, I will check their roots as well, although they didn’t do well, so I don’t think the roots will be big anyway to be able to see if there is.

I recall they only sold in large-ish quantities but I’ll shoot them a mail and see what’s up. Thanks!

Oh that’s good, maybe they have a supplier around here

Found an online shop that stocks it. So I’m back in business! Time to mix up some soil for seedling and pop some beans.
Next thing to try resolve though is getting beans to my spot. Stupid post office and dumbass laws that allow me to grow but not buy or import seeds. :frowning:

Breeding run is coming along, at 3 weeks now. Dad’s a bit ahead but the plants look well seeded so I’ll get some out the deal at the very least. Family shot:
