Let mutants grow?

I have one that mutated I think after a heat stroke so I let it grow out of curiosity. 1/2 the plant shriveled and made super tiny leaves. The other half grew super strong branches, weird twisted leaves and what looks to be big sticky buds. What do the experts think?

Not liking the look of that. Is it progressing?

When the heat stroke, I assume happened 2maybe3 months ago the whole plant was the size of the yellowed half at the bottom of the pic. The other half continued to grow just different.

Better pics maybe. The bigger plant behind it was planted same time. It was badly stunted but the somewhat healthy half peeked my curiosity.

Personally, I would cut out the damaged portion. But before doing so, evaluate for any sort of fungus such a bud rot.

Well it has a couple branches fron the damaged side that grew up out of it just fine. I have only heard of bud rot in this area when people use garden sprinklers to water. The humidity is very low here and the rainfall is rare. I mean it’s either gonna be really good, really bad or just different.

Certainly. Could be the plant just said, screw you branch. Or maybe there’s damage in there somewhere. I’d still carefully discard that half dead portion though.

Otherwise, an impressive looking specimen.

Danm just can’t clip it. Been like that for months. Another 3or4 weeks and it’s over for it anyway and if it dies today still be decent weed. Lets just have an adventure an see how it shakes out. I ain’t skeered. Who here smoked a little moldy bud in the 80s?

In the 80’s, we did not know of the harm that can come from smoking mold.
To each their own and all, but I’d get rid of that ugly.
I once sawed into a bale in 1972, the center was a cavity, seeds, tortilla chunks, a cadaver bird, and other oddities, came out of it also.
And yes we still smoked it…but not in today’s would I.

Oh I agree. I grew up 30 miles from mexico along a major smuggling route. You don’t even wanna know what you didn’t see. Different times for sure.

I would smoke it. To paraphrase Nietzsche , “ That which does not kill you gets you stoned”.

With the weight of those buds and the winds i wager that they probably had a branch split off the main trunk and the Knuckle is holding that branch by a thread life support slowly dwindling.I always shoot for good knuckles when i pick out my chucks. Those plants seem to hold branches more sturdier

I have gone over it with a magnifying glass. We had 3 or so days in a row over 110°. Thats when it shriveled kinda like it was attacked with a hair dryer. One side mostly recovered except for the mutated leaves. I’m very sketchy about late season trimming. I had a beautiful 6 footer last year and clipped maybe 5 or 6 tiny limbs out of the bottom and the next morning it was dead as fuck. My buds not fancy. I grow so we don’t have to buy plus im not a fan of dispensary buds that crumble to dust. I hand roll my smoke.

you gotta pitbull that like to pee there everyday?

Pitbull passed last year. It’s motion sensors, cameras and Benelli now.

There are things that make the leaves die even tho the branch still grows and buds. Around here stink bugs attack my main stalks and everything above their damage does this. It’ll grow and flower, but leaves die back repeatedly starting with the biggest fans, and the buds are undersized and weird and don’t smell great. I just cut out all out now and it can be painful. If its stink bugs, there will be dark blotches on the stem below the damage, and often big bumps that misshape it.

I also have clones that got heat stressed to a crazy temp and are still living. They make new leaves, then those leaves die as new ones try to pop out. It seems to never end, so they are stuck in struggle.

i’m no grower, but i’ve been smoking this shit since 1968, and i say you’re doing a great job of just letting that plant grow. i dig your philosophy on this. KOKO
