same reason why i liked it back in the day… the site provides a safe space for like-minded individuals from around the world to share information…knowledge is power, and its the only we can “grow” as growers… also there’s the sense of pride that comes from creating something with yur own two hands; we all are proud of what we do and simply want to tell people. u cant AFK, but u can here… that’s why i dig this place
I say it’s a great break from the elitest breaking bad wannabies.
It’s great not catching flack for not having the latest and greatest tech. A dude can show off his cfl setup and not worry about the" light jocks " trashing a journal with negativity and the go big or go home bullcrap.
The mods here are doing a bang up job of preserving civility, decency, and respect.
We all wanna share even when we can’t and do when we can,and it shows.
Man that sounds terrible- I’m on my second CFL grow and have learned a TON doing so very much with the help of the people around this forum. Ended up with some very very good buds last harvest… pure CFL.
Will be moving to LED/solstrip for the next one but that time was invaluable… Learned multi-point right from the start… now i just upgrade the tech and boom… here is some bubbblegum that was 100% CFL veg/flower:
The only true negative I can think of, IMHO looking back,is not picking up and getting started sooner (because of that exact 'mentality- i thought without HID - it’s a waste of my time…couldn’t have been more wrong…lighting has come a long way since the 90s…lot of options out there).
Just bit the bullet and started some bagseed about a ~year ago. Needless to say; no regrets.
Congrats you produced some nice buds there pal. My very first setup was 2 x 70w hps yard flood lamps in a single wardrobe with a diy ebb and flood effort but i learned plenty just like you have. If only cobs and solstrips were around back then lol. Lets just say the future looks way brighter than it once did.
i love that it’s a smaller more tight knit community, almost feels like a family! i originally registered here after i heard @subcool say he met his wife on OG, i wanted to meet a grower girl!
Some members here @anon58740919 and a few others have inspired me enough (don’t happen much these days) to build a cob led fixture for my missis awkward to light 60x120cm tent. If it works out well enough i’ll tackle building one for my 1x1m tent at some point too. I’m detailing it on my affordable cob thread if anyone wants a look. After 20 odd years of sodium i’m going to give led a good try and i have you guys and OG to thank for inspiring me.

I’ve only done 15 yrs of growing but the last 2-3 of it with LED and I have to say you’ll never go back once you jump on that train. Or maybe if you are really poor, maybe, but if you’re not dirt poor, LED (and COB LED in particular) is the future.
@MadScientist, I can’t really add anything to what everyone else has already mentioned, so I’ll just quote the sentiments I agree with the most:
Cheers all!
That was a good compilation! HAHAHAAHA!

In my short time here, I can’t remember a longer one.

It’s just you guys and me. Much love my brothers…
The love i get from the community!
I thought that forums were a thing of the past. I tried instagram for a few months until I found OG was back online. I find overgrow a great resource for my growing needs. I also enjoy making seeds and gifting them across the globe. Also trying other people creations.
^YES THAT^
I couldn’t have said it better myself.
Of the various forums on the web, the Overgrow community engages in the most respectful and intelligent dialog that I’ve encountered to date. I’ve learned something new in every thread I’ve read. This is priceless. Kudos to the Overgrow organizers and community.

Well said brother…
I’m new Here but so far people here seem a lot nicer than on other sites I’ve been on
That’s for damn sure @prismo! Welcome! You will not find a more mature, generous and talented gaggle of growers anywhere. Glad you’re here. Looking forward to the connection brother!
