Lots of love in the Longhouse

Yah what got me going in that direction was when I looked at the hash under the microscope, it was made out of the trichome caps and some other sods little fibers and trichome bits. So then the thought was, since the hash is made from the capitate trichomes, then more of them should make more hash.
Cue a thousand photos of cannabis trichomes with microscope counting software. I got a huge signal when I counted 10 trichomes and got a single gram of hash per kilo. So the next phase is I count the trichomes in veg on the little buds that are on the veg plant and I know ahead of time if it belongs in the trash before it’s even budded out.

Very cool info, cuz! You take this to another level, one I never really bothered with getting that far into. But still, cool info . Thnx

Having a lab available with great scopes definitely helps with this and probably encourages you to do different experiments because you can. That way you can make unfalsifiable statements!

Because of your threads I want to learn so much more about hash. Not that you leave much undiscovered,:rofl:. Great info and love the passion.

It’s definitely cool to see someone get deep into a specific aspect of cannabis and just go full throttle! :joy:
I’m just a jackass…. I forget how that goes so I’ll just leave it as such! :joy:

There is no doubt that Joe has honed his skills to a fine point in hash/rosin making. I was old school, lol just trial and error, without the lab equipment.
Honestly, to my mind, OG is a better place because of people like him!
Freely imparting knowledge that is truth based.

lol not ‘my buddy told me this from a friend of a friend’

Thanks for the props!
I have offended God and mankind because my work did not reach the quality it should have. Leonardo da vinci’s final words.
Anyways, I have another tip as well. The human eye can’t tell if the hash yield is going to be good. When you look at some buds and they are frosty looking, that’s actually because the trichomes are really tall, not because there are more of them. The human eye really has a problem seeing things smaller than 500 micrometers/microns. So if you have lots of trichomes at 100 microns tall the plant won’t look like it’s covered in frost. If the trichomes are 1000 microns tall the plant looks like jack frost himself is in town.
I’ve read articles that make the claim you should use “frosty nugs” but that’s not true.

I wondering for a guy like me that just wants to play around a bit and doesn’t have the scopes and knowledge, if a quick sample press on the rosin press would be useful in getting an idea on a dry ice hash yield. I do understand that the methods are different animals. I’m definitely a go by feel kinda guy and a trial by error guy.
Thanks for another nice piece of info. @JoeCrowe

A couple of quick pics before nap time.

Frankie Fem 4 weeks 4 days into flower. She’s starting to stack up. Tips are curling so I’m gonna back off the nitrogen but not stop. Some color is returning.

Fat Bastard. About 4 days behind Frankie. She’s starting to show some yellowing now so has been getting her nitrogen boost as well.

A couple overall flower tent shots.

A couple in the veg closet.
The Frankie clones are doing well!

Thunder Rose healthy and proud!

And here’s a little Strawberry Glue from @djtrip . She’s taking off a bit now. She’s been interesting. Short, bushy, has a few branches that topped themselves. We’ll see what she does. Gonna let her ride in the veg closet for a while.

That’s it for now. Just thought I’d check in before I konk out.
Good morning OG! :facepunch:t3::fist:t3::vulcan_salute:t3: :green_heart::green_heart: 🪶🪶

These plants just want to live and breed! Their resilience always tickles me. I cut the Sweet and Sour Cindy early last week. It was finally showing male parts for sure. I just stripped all the branches, threw them out for compost and left the stalk standing. I put the pot out in the garage with others to reclaim the soil. After over a week in the mostly dark hot garage with no water, tonight I find this! :joy:

I guess this is how the hash material collecting process is gonna begin! :joy: I’ve gotten behind on my trimming but the drying process doesn’t stop.
I swear I’ll get to these…. or most of it anyway.
A large part of me thinks they’d look good in the freezer though. :man_shrugging:t3:

I’m no where on that scale… but @THCeed buying concrete mixers makes a lot of sense! :joy:

Good morning OG!! :green_heart::heart::green_heart::heart:

I’m sure your friend would think I’m crazy then! I’m so allergic to pollen its insane. I take major precaution now. lmao

The last time I handled an open pollination without a mask I sneezed for 3 days straight and sinus’s were completely tore up.

It’s not quite that bad for me yet but I can understand. A basic mask is definitely in order for me. With just the little I’ve been collecting here lately my left nostril feels like I’m in my early 20’s again! :joy: This stuff is abrasive!

Sooooo…. My Sour Diesel x GMO nugs are dry and a test burn has me like WTF!
The first hit said yup a near perfect cross in the flavor department. Garlic and onion oil all wrapped up in fuel. It just coats your tongue in an almost rancid oil slick…… but then the WTF this shit is salty. Like really salty. After all the other flavors pass (and that takes a while.) I’m left with salt. I had to clean the bong after 2 bowls because it’s fckn salty! The effects are kinda up but not energetic. Just good all day smoking/ working weed. That is if you can make it past the taste! :joy: So this is a thing? I’ve never had salty weed before. I’m hoping maybe that’ll tone down a bit and just leave the GMO/Diesel flavor. If not I don’t think it’s gonna be on my regular go to list of things to smoke first! :joy:

My mentor Mike is the exact same, he has a full face mask with filters and all as well, he steps out of the tent, drops clothes on the floor and walks about 8-10 steps to the bathroom and showers, has for as long as I can remember j

Never heard of thatun, brother. Not sure why it’d be salty
We’ve\ grown SD over 25 yrs never had any salty

Well damn! None of the other 8 or so strains I’ve sampled before cure that are in the same soil getting the same regimen did this. It’s definitely in the strain I’m thinking. It’s no joke… salty. And you have a hard time getting rid of the taste. It’s almost like rolling little grains of salt around in your mouth but you can’t feel the grain just the flavor! If it wasn’t for the salt it would be at the top of my list for daytime smoke. As it sits it’s at the bottom. Below stuff yet to be harvested! :joy:

Almost HAS to be the crossing
Sounds like hash time

I’ll run it again soon to see if I find another pheno. I loved that plants structure. I’d trade it all day long for a salt free variety! :joy: This stuff is gonna have my potassium levels up!
