Lung room vs tent RH discrepancy

Hello. Has any body observed a tent vs I think term would be lung room?..room used to house tents…right?.. discrepancy in RH % given an adequate dehumidifier and tent air exchanged?

I’m experimenting tonight…but I’m impatient and like to hear others data also.

Not really new to indoor growing but new to tents led and having the means to control humidity.

I thought a lung room was a small space that recreated the perfect humidity and temps before it flows into the grow room… so it could literally be a tent that is a lung room @spyke … I’m interested in seeing what people say, I do not know myself

Not sure what you’re asking… what’s the difference between lung room temp and tent?

I thought the lung room was just the room that the tent was in that it gets its air from… it ‘breathes’ into the tent.

Lung rooms are basically just where the area that supply of air volume that gets pulled into the tent when the tents exhaust fan kicks on and pulls air in. The lung room could be a separate tent that the air within is conditioned to your desired parameters. For most of us that don’t have the luxury of a separate tent just to condition the air the room the tents are in will act as the lung room. Most of the time the room itself will be conditioned by the home HVAC.

For the question at hand what are the discrepancies you are seeing? It would make sense if the temp and humidity were higher in the tent than in the lung room since plant transpiration will effect both those values. However if temps and humidity are lower in the tent than in the room I would have no idea how that would happen lol.

You are correct in your term lung room. Basically around here for most of us the lung room is the room your tent is in. If I read your post correctly… I think you may be referring to the “ Night Time RH Spike” this happens directly after the lights go off and temps drop causing a sudden spike in RH as colder air holds less moisture. As long as your exhaust fan is adequate you should only see a jump and then quickly if all is going well it should drop back to lower RH. This process is normal for lights out . Your lung room will play a part in this but it sounds like you are controlling the lung room RH well.

Night time relative humidity spike is also because plants respirate more at night than in the day, releasing CO2. Also stomata open during cooler temperatures which has a direct effect on moisture loss from the plant into the atmosphere.

My lung room dehumidifier is set to 45%, the 4x4 tent stays near 60%.

There is about a ~10% (+/- 5) RH discrepancy between my “lung room” and the tent interior. Lung room usually set to 45 or 50% and tent is usually around 60% but it depends on the time of year and quantity/size of plants. Can be a little higher in summer and a bit lower in winter.

Thanks for the replies. Just what I was looking for. Got too high and forgot how to reset my mind max so my results going to have to wait. Too hot to close my tents during the day so this is a night time experiment for me.

I noticed the smallest start of mold or botrytis or something the other day so had to emergency purchase the dehumidifier. This grow was planned but came to gether haphazardly due to life stuff unfortunately.

Well according to my hygrometer I had a spike up too 55% but that’s as high as it went yesterday after lights out. Low end was mid 40%s.

I call it a win.

I did wake up to a full bucket.

I doubt besides the spike that there was more than a few points difference between the tents and the room. Can’t wait to get a couple controllers and begin with a bit of automation.

Normally have a 10-20% spike, depends, If I just watered and they are late in flower it’ll jump closer to 20%, on those nights I have to leave the side zipper open some.
