Making a hobby profitable?

Hell ya! It’s the whole prohibition BS that keeps good stuff like that from happening.

When the threat of criminal sanctions are hanging over your head it’s hard to be open.

So pot is legal now in Canada but if you don’t follow the rules you can be busted worse than before.

Prohibition 2.0. Welcome to a freer world! lol

@LabRat Half the reason i do what I do is so my fellow growers have a safe place to give their seeds away. (Patients are the other half )
I might be the tip of the spear, but without a phalanx of supporters I’m just another artifact of time.

Every little bit helps man!

My cutting from the outside Earth Lover girl is finally starting new growth! This is one I want to get into a lab for some solid numbers. I’m not sure if I have to have my grow permit from Health Canada to be able to get that done but I’ll find out. I want to apply for my grow permit too and one for the wife. We need to see the doc to get our medpot permits renewed next month so will apply right after that’s done. Might ask for a larger amount tho with my 12g/day and her 6 we should be good for 92 plants. I’d like to get hers raised to ten and make that an outdoor permit so 20 outside next year. Only 2 plants per gram outside but 5 each for indoor. Plus the 4 rec plants anyone can grow.

20 sounds like a lot especially if bigger ones like the one I have now. Would need to hire trimmers.

Amen to that. I had a bunch of Blackberry Kush seeds that I wanted to share but the shipping logistics were too intimidating, so I hit up @Sebring. He happily took them, and they went pretty quick. I’ve had a couple of people mention that they scored some.

Totally stress-free way to share seeds, and help out someone who maybe suffering. I love OG man. :vulcan_salute:

Well right now as one of the first posters mentioned it’s about getting you brand out there. How do you do this? Firstly be honest, second be bold in your brand designs, thirdly be gracious. With these three traits you can make money selling even the most generic rebranded seeds. :four_leaf_clover::wink::four_leaf_clover:

Additionally one would be wise not to push their own crosses on the market. Work your line, and wait until you have an insiders look before you go making moves putting your babies on the market. In the beginning people want to get to know the brand or at least become familiar with it. Sell your F2s of generic stuff rebranded with your brand.

Hell I would even go so far as to say, (given that this is overgrow) work that special cut you have, back cross it and select for those traits…put some Fx work into it and you can sell those beans (IMO).

But hopefully the Blockchain will catch up soon and simplify all this…:slightly_smiling_face:.

Don’t take my word for it though. I just find that with a bunch of new strains from new breeders it gets a little confusing. I feel that it would be best, if you are just getting started, to slowly ease yourself into the market…like there is too much of a good thing, dont want to overload potential customers.

I’m almost 69 and still don’t know what I want to do with my life.

I’ve had so many jobs over the years and hated most of them. Went back to school for 3 years in my 30’s for a diploma in environmental chemistry and wish I’d either taken computer science or became a millwright instead. Ended up moving to northern Alberta 22 years ago and ended my working life driving truck.

Now after an almost 40 year break getting back into building fly rods and tying flies and thinking I could maybe pick up some extra cash doing that but too much of a procrastinator to get much of that done in a timely manner.

One more shot at life lord and I promise I won’t piss it all away this time!

Tie them flies and make them rods. If you can make them super duper, give one or two away to a few pro fisher folk and if they like them, the word gets out. The “exclusive” rods aren’t cheap. Good luck!

Here’s a couple that have developed a way to be profitable in cannabis Takes a lot of self-promotion and an up front style people like. Growing outdoors saves a ton of money and work. (Once you get the ground set up so you don’t have to keep buying expensive fertilizers and equipment.)
