Man-bot’s Mixed Bag - Part Deux: Agent Orange x Aeric77 Cali-O, DJ Short First Light, 88G13HP

Well call me crazy - but I may be having a change of heart here.

Thinking it may have thrown those male flowers as it didn’t like being flowered so young.

I’m going to cut it right back and throw it in veg to branch out a bit and see what happens and then maybe throw it into flower once it bulks up in my (empty) male Box to see what it does.

The chocolate smell has me intrigued. I mean it’s not crazy strong - but it’s different. May as well see what it’s got. If it throws male flowers again I’ll chuck it.

I kind of regret not doing that with my Marauders. If I hadn’t had other things going at the time that could get pollinated, I would have waited to see if it was a one time thing due to a stressful event.

They smelled amazing, so I was really bummed about chopping them. I wouldn’t have made any crosses with them, but I would have loved to smoke them if they got through it all without throwing more nanners.

I have very little space but the plant is intriguing enough that I’m willing to hack it back and give it a bit of time to grow and see what it does once a bit older.

Plenty of other things that I know won’t herm that are ready to flower!

So for now - First Light is on pause… to be continued…

Ok - been a bit lazy - it’s been 2 weeks and we’re around 4 weeks into flower total for the AO x Cali-O plants.

Things starting to come along nicely:

Interesting most of the AOxCO have a hash like smell at the moment… but there isn’t a lot of resin present yet:

The three above are coming along - this one is the front runner so far as has an exceptionally sweet smell… not citrus (yet) but sickly sweet:

She’s my fav so far

Lots of stretch on these and what I would say is a fairly sativa structure - they really shot up… basically 3’ plants in 6” pots!

The 88G13HP has just begun to show sex and I do have 1 lady:

Interested to see what she’s like.

Last - I popped one of my NL x C99 cuttings in… skunky / passion fruit smell to her… I do like

She only went in a week or so ago so we’ll see.

I ended up cutting the first light plant back and vegging - I’ll flower it out again once it’s more mature and see if it doesn’t throw male flowers. It’s just so slow in growing… we’ll see if I have enough patience. It’s chocolate smell was intriguing enough to give her another shot.

Quick update - looks like all 3 of my 88G13HP are girls!

Pretty cool - I’ll get to see just how much variation there is given it is IBL-ish.

Not much to see as the are you g, but this is the size I was shooting for this grow… not the 3’+ Ao x Cali-o plants that shot up.

They’re really just starting to flower so better development shots in the coming weeks.

I popped 2 seeds last round that were males and they had quite a bit more branching.

I wanted single cola type plants for this run - so they are fitting the bill so far.

can you tell me anything about that BCGA orange crush? Is that a canadian strain? I might be growing a hybrid of those genetics.

Sure can!

It was the early 2000s when I grew it, seeds were from Heaven’s Stairway.

Orange Crush was a cross BCGA made (Vic High) and it was Aeric 77’s Cali-O cut crossed to a blueberry Vic had (apparently not of DJ origin, but I had ready he got his blueberry from Marc Emery… so I would say that claim is a bit unsubstantiated).

Anyhow - nice plants, the blueberry was pretty dominant in the cross. Grew huge plants outdoors (8’ at the most… but that’s big to me).

Had a sweet scent, maybe a bit berryish in the end.

Not sure what else I can tell you? Would love to see what you’re growing that’s similar!

Sounds like similar growth characteristics. I’m growing a strain bred by strayfox and bodhi called Care Package. It includes a canadian cut which bodhi received with the labeling “orange krush.”

Here are some pictures from the preflowering stage, they are already about 7 feet in these photos. These aren’t great pictures because there are a lot of plants in close quarters, and it’s hard to photograph them in a way where you can distinguish which one is which.

They are now roughly 11 feet tall, about halfway through flowering.

Jeez - big un’s!!

Based on the Cali-O cross I have going now those genes like to grow big plants.

11’ is incredible. My neighbour behind me has a couple of those right now. I can sit in my back yard at look up and see 2’ long colas sticking up (and we’re fully in suburbia!)

Well the first light plant lives on. Really funny one - will take some cuts and flower it out again to see if it herms.

Interesting plant. Could be a total waste of time - or could be cool… we’ll see soon enough

Been a bit lazy - about 3 weeks since the last update.

Agent Orange x Cali-O is looking nice. Really 2 (similar still) phenos.

This one is hashy with an orangey back end:

This one (which is my keeper thus far) is much sweeter with a distinct grapefruit scent on it. Chunkier buds too:

All are very tall with significant stretch and thin leaves. Classic “sativa structure” - if that classification still is relevant.

The ‘88 G13HP is starting to come along:

Starting to pack on some resin. Beautiful structure. Not a ton of stretch - will basically be an 8” Bud and a few small ones with no larf. Just what I’m moving toward.

Last is my NL x C99 - smelling fruity and skunky and putting out like she does!

Figure I have till the end of oct for the AO x CO, mid November - ish for the others.

Well it’s been about 2 weeks! Time for an update!

First and foremost thanks to @Barefrog - both the Ao x CO and 88G13HP came from him and they have been a treat to grow.

Agent Orange x Cali-O:

These were flipped August 26 - and they are pretty well ready to go! Gonna chop these suckers down this weekend. So it’s about a 9 week varietal.

AO x CO #1

She’s been my fav. Great yielder. Not overpowering in the scent department - in fact none of these are. But it had a distinct grapefruit tang. Looking pretty nice no?

AO x CO #2

Another similar specimen - nice looking, good resin. A somewhat citrusy smell but in general pretty low odour

AO x CO #3

Similar again. A bit taller so she got flopped. Slightly more hashy / mild generic citrus smell. Again not an overwhelming smell but there. Big honking bud on top. Doesn’t show here as much but it’s big!

Edit - just to be clear - only the AO x CO are ready to chop :). The rest are weeks behind.

Here are the 88G13HP girls!

Great structure. Love this plant. Very low odor again (maybe it’s something I did this time around?).

In the pic the resin is coming on nicely.

Here are 2 of the 3 girls. Very similar. The first one got hit with some Neviies Haze/Panama/Malawi pollen from @lefthandseeds - should make for a cool cross, 2 ends of the spectrum there!

They are each about an 8” chonk cola and some small lower buds. Great for my style of grown when not going scrog.

The structure on these does remind me of the Black Dak plant I grew last round.

Last my NL x C99 - I’m sure you all think it’s been done before and it has! Still a great plant  finishes quick (60 days give or take) good scent that is very present, tropical fruit with a skunk on it. I like it

Feeing bummed I have no purple plants here!!! Gotta grow something colourful next round

AO x CO chopped today!

Some nice plants with citrus undertones some mixed with skunk, some more cat pissy.

We’ll see how they smell on cure

2 had the main stem snap at the end from the weight of the top bud:

G13HP getting close - probably 2 weeks left on them:

Pretty resinous - low odour, very solid flower!

Looks like maybe a week or 2 left on the 88G13HP.

Loving these plants - they are resinous!

Even these little larfy lowers are just covered. They were hit with some pollen… not sure if they took.

If I could have all lard and trim like that I’d be making nice hash quite often!

2 of the 88G13HP coming down - I think they look pretty nice!

Pretty frosty, quite dense.

Low odour, but have a peppery, rotten meat funk.

Well see how they cure up!

Peace @man-bot Great job. Looks very tasty. I trust when I can run them I find some beauties like that. Stay safe and grow hard :fist:t6:
Peace

I have only had a chance to grow a couple strains from Bare so far and they haven’t finished yet but it seems like you can just plant em and forget em (sort of) they run on auto pilot.
As you put it a treat to grow!
Nice job on the AOxCO I have 3 seedlings atm looking forward to growing them out.
I’m glad I found your thread, good info, I’m limited on height so I think ill keep them in small pots maybe only a gallon rose pot they are deep and only 4" square.
