Sure. Whether they would have a legal liability is another matter. They can refuse at any point, doesn’t mean they are off the hook if someone were to pursue them in court.
Typically, a Warranty is explicit as to what will invalidate it. E.g. the consequence of tampering with the product would likely be in the Warranty.
A warranty is part of a contract offered by the seller to entice them to agree to a sale. And, there are implied warranties in commerce, too.
Pursuing a warranty claim refused by the OEM is, in many cases, would not be worth the effort since you’d have to bring a legal action against them. However, there are some mechanisms under consumer protection that may be one avenue. Others is to let folk know that the OEM doesn’t honor their warranty (as long as truthful).
Call me out all you want Explorer…I’m good with it.
But, it’s people like yourself (being so understanding), that allows these companies to snake out of making something that is wrong, right again. Their denial of standing by their product, only proves what kind of company they are. And I was correct, that this forum is not the best place for them to not cover their product on. It’s full of watching eye’s, seeing how a possible future lite purchase may be treated by the company courting them.
There are plenty of people here, and others I know personally, that were not happy with Mars’ product, so I have every right to feel this way.
I get that they are a sponsor here…But, please don’t pretend like they are not the biggest spammer on this site… That’s the REAL joke here…
It seems like my comment ruffled a feather or two haha…I have been burned by companies like Mars in the past…Only Suckers would knowingly purchase a product that a company won’t stand behind…
Are you genuinely surprised an inexpensive Chinese LED supplier won’t stand behind their product?
Good. Fast. Cheap. You can only pick 2.
Don’t buy cheap. Buy from reputable American suppliers. It will cost more, but quality and service costs money. I still buy a lot of stuff for retail at the hydro store. It costs more, but it creates American jobs and It is nice to be able to take a product in and get an instant refund/replacement.
This is a good reason to use HID lighting. Any part (reflector, bulb, ballast) can be swapped out and you can replace a part same day at any hydro store. LED burns out and you need to send it in for repair? What’s gonna happen to your plants for the next 2 weeks?
I had a big fuckin thing all types up about that they aren’t the greatest company but that they do claim to “warranty” their official Amazon store, I can somewhat verify that as is seen in one of their threads and my posts talking about when my mars hydro 600watt (that I purchased from official Amazon store in july of 2018). This past September realized I had 2 rows of LEDs out and contacted them about warranty, though I was told it was past the “Initial warranty” or whatever it’s called and that I could either send it in to be repaired and pay a fee or could spend about $35 for them to ship me a spare driver and a bunch of 2 different blue led diodes… fast forward a week and I have the burnt out diodes replaced and am back up and going. Things ran great for a minute and then in I wanna say either October or early November had it happen again… Once again replaced diodes, didnt bitch much as it was a quick fix… this morning after the last 24 hours being a waking nightmare I come home and check In my tent and while checking the girls was thinking about this thread. To my surprise (though at this point it shouldnt suprise me) I have 4 rows of diodes out. Originally i had planned to somewhat defend their product and warranty but I’m kinda at that point of fuck it… getting a new light if taxes allow and the Mars hydro will either be for veg or as a backup. Shouldnt have to fix it 3 times in less than 6 months.
Yeah That sucks man, imo you shouldn’t have to fix it once, let alone 3 times ive noticed a lot of the companies have the same type of warranties, depending on the Time it breaks down and what breaks down determines what the warranty is lol Thats … i changed over to LED about a 1-1/2 yrs ago, I grew with HPs since the beginning of my time, couldn’t replace my lights with expensive leds , just because someone said the cheaper ones weren’t any good… have friends with supposedly better lights, built in America paying 700$ for a 300 watt light lol they dont grow any better than the Cheap ones . So me being me , I searched for a more affordable light since I needed like 6 of them, i found some I thought were worth giving a try and im glad I did, they’re all growing strong after a year and a half and didnt pay more than 100$ usd never had to test their shitty warranty either, so im not sure how their customer service is. But the lights are working well and I haven’t had to fix any of them… I can see why people are reluctant to buy the cheaper lights, and for sure there are better lights than I have, and im always on the search to upgrade and eventually will, but the cheap ones are doing well for me at the moment.
200 watt draw from the wall in a 48inch x 32inch tent
Cost me 90usd delivered plug and play , ive cropped 5 times with it , and havent had a hiccup. Its paid for itself lol gonna buy another one and put both in a 4x4 tent. Sorry to hear about the problems you have with the light Brother, I wouldn’t waste my time fixing it anymore either. People need to stand behind their products.
yeah it does pretty good , probably a little better in a 2x4 tent This is a pic from earlier in flower, i was thinking about buying another one but i think its too much for that tent, so I need a new tent lol
