Medicating has become... boring?

I 100% will be pressing ASAP, I like flower but I love resin. Terpier the better. Just NOT distillate. Although, I don’t know, maybe if you distill directly from flower it would be full spectrum. I hate the taste of the added terps companies use, live resin is the shit. I don’t think I’ll be making anything quite the fancy, but some pressing for sure.

Sigh. My grow related shopping list keeps getting longer.

I’m hijacking the thread. How much weed did you use to get that return, @Buzzer777? What strain? I’m super-new to pressing, only done it twice and the returns were gawdawful. It was like six-month-old weed, so I wasn’t expecting much, but I was pretty surprised at just how bad the returns were. Twelve grams of bud, maybe a half gram of rosin.

It never ends, brother…

What I love about it is it’s actually pretty cheap to DIY a rosin press. Was a good thread on it a while ago and when I read it I had to get up and show my mom because I had just previously said something along the lines of we could get a manual press and a bottle jack and gantry. But there’s an even easier solution out there, lol.

:rofl::rofl: well I have been rebuilding my workshop since January. About ready to start up again now that “free cooling season” is here.

@minitiger
Return is dependant of strain. (and condition of the flower) I have had as low as 15% and as high as about 26% return. Note: I only press once and don’t use a filter. (Lazy to the core…LOL)

I like to press 1 week old flower that is kept at 62% RH (very important or yields suffer)
It has gotten so that I trash my trim and larf. If the garbage collectors pick the right day and bag…they would be camped out in my yard! I only use buds for everything…hash, edibles etc included).
Once you grow, you will have it made!

I have no idea how many strains that I have…lost count and that was only one shelf in the photo.

Mhm… I’m really a “Summer Guy,” dig it when it’s warm enough to go for a swim in the pool and shit. But don’t you just love it when all you have to do is open a window to keep the grow space cool?

Okay, good to know. One-week old. I’ve read 2-6 weeks. Do you cure those buds like you would flower that you’re just planning on blazing in a j or a bong or whatever?

And I know it’s strain-dependent, that’s why I asked you what strain it was haha!

I’m with you on tossing the bags and just pressing weed sans filter or whatever. I really feel like the bags were a big reason why I got such a shitty return. Do you use a mold?

I cure normally for a week, then press. There are many different techniques and imo , no right or wrong.
I labeled the strains in the rosin pictures. ^^^^^
Malawi x Panama yielded me 9+ jars! had rosin for months to wake and bake by.
It has become so hard to regrow a strain…Just so many new ones to choose from, but this would be one to pick for sure. (chopped at 99 days…and yes…that is a spare bath Tub with 10 ft high ceiling for the taller ones:))

Malawi x Panama? Ace Seeds?

When you say “jars” what do you mean? Those five milliliter silicone canisters or whatever? That you put rosin in?

I’m really surprised at the returns you got from an obviously Sativa-dominant plant. I was led to believe that I’d get the best returns from hash-making strains, i.e. Indicas. Good to know.

Maaaannnn… I got some weed I just harvested last week or so, curing right now, and all I wanna do is crack those jars and press the fuck out of those nugs haha…

I feel you on the “just so many strains to choose from” thing. It’s difficult. I just bought like $5000 worth of seeds over this summer, kind of overwhelming when I only have room for nine females at a time. Hard to choose.

Yes…Ace seeds.

I was referring to qt mason jars for the flower.
I use 7ml silicon jars for rosin
5K! Holy crap…that’s a lot of seeds! LOL

I put mine on a spreadsheet and spend hours planning on what to grow next.

You are generally correct that Sativa’s don’t yield as much rosin as Indicas…but there are always exceptions.

Yeah, I spent a little too much on seeds this summer. Chalk it up to quarantining… Bored as shit, nothing to do and unfortunately, I memorized my debit card number. If I had to get up off of the couch, I would’ve spent maybe $1500…

I may have to check out those Ace seeds. I’ve always been intrigued and actually bought two packs of their Tikal. But holy shit, if you got those great returns form the Malawi x Panama… How’s she smoke? Were those feminized seeds?

I understand, being retired, I have to watch myself too…SEED OCD…LOL
This virus thing has changed everyone’s life for sure…growing has made it easier for me, but it still is not a fun time.

The Malawi x Panama was from a feminized seed. I am not a huge Sativa fan but wanted to try a good one anyway. I get too jumpy in my old age for a heavy sativa…but the rosin was superb for wake and bake in my case.

If I ever find the time, I will grow it again, or a straight malawi. For now, I am looking thru my veg for a few nice males to make some pollen. Also have the stuff to make STS for reversing. Usually by fall, I want to begin breeding (chucking) again, and that is now.

Yeah, I used to be all about Sativas, but I’ve found that the older I get, the more I’m pining for some good ol’ Indica-heavy strains. Really just in the last year or so. Again, I think quarantining has a lot to do with that. When I’m just sitting around all day and we can’t even have people over for BBQ’s and parties and shit, smoking something that’s gonna make me wanna get up and talk to people and stuff feels… I dunno. Wrong haha!

Do you have a template of the spreadsheet you use to keep track of your seeds that you can share? I keep meaning to ask my girlfriend if she can do that for me (she’s the computer wiz, I can barely post pics online…), but I keep forgetting. Between all of my old stock and all of the seeds I bought this summer, there’s a lot to keep track of. I actually had to buy a second fridge to put all of my seeds into, just because they’d pretty much taken over the fruit/vegetable crisper drawer in the fridge in our kitchen. I have a hand-written list of everything, but a spreadsheet would be preferable, just so I can alter it as I go through the seeds. I’m pretty OCD, hate it when there’s like scratched out numbers next to the seed names and stuff.

TBH, I have not had a huge change in lifestyle since I am retired. My issue is that I have to think about going anywhere in public these days, with the virus out there. I never frequent casinos so no problem there (worked in them too long)…but even going to the market for food requires some prep. I will use a Sativa early in the AM, but change to Indicas by noon.

I use MS Excel…2010.
Not relly a template, but these are my headings:

I use colors to denote my experience (ie potency), and whether or not I have grown them before.
ie: white=growing now, Yellow= Not dropped yet, Green shades = potency

Strain Qty Seedbank Breeder M/F Received date Notes & Cultivars

I use tupperware type containers for seed storage, but not in the fridge…I have a spot in the house that maintains 70d F all yr round. RH is not a problem in the High Sierra desert of Nevada… Summers avg about 10% and winters maybe 20%

That’s funny, I was just thinking about how our lifestyle hasn’t changed at all, either. I’ve only worked one year out of the last four, from April ‘18 to April ‘19. And my girlfriend quit going into the office and started working from home three years ago (she’s the breadwinner). What has changed, though, is that we haven’t seen any of our friends since late February. We have a pool, so our house is the party house from June until October. Lots of BBQ’s and music, fun times. That’s been the thing that’s getting to me the most, just not hanging out with friends.

We may be being a little too anal about the quarantining thing. I dunno. We haven’t even gone to the market since March, we just get all of our groceries delivered now. Shit, man, I haven’t even put on a shirt in almost six months. But it’s like you said, with the prepping just to go to the market, making sure you got your hand sanitizer and your mask and shit… It’s ridiculous. It’s not how I wanna be living. People keep saying,”This is the New Normal.” No, dude, this is NOT normal. This sucks. I don’t wanna have to stress just to go to the store to get some beer (been getting that delivered for the last six months, too haha…).

Anyway… I’ll ask my girl about that MS Excel. She probably knows what that is, probably knows an even better version of it. I just wanna be able to have a list of everything broken down by breeder, genetics and flowering times. Or something like that, anyway. The handwritten list I have is written in my “grower log” notebook or whatever, spread over like five pages in between my grow notes. It’s chaos haha. I’d like everything all in one place.

Is that a straight up flower pressed into rosin, or bubble hash pressed into rosin?

Looks tasty af :yum:
