Medicating has become... boring?

I have been pretty careful, but still get out to buy food…Early in the morning are ok since few people are out when I go. Living in an area that has always had smoke from the fires in Cali…I always had masks in the house. Like you, I began taking precautions in late february as it came closer and closer.

I think that I have forgotten what “normal” is.

This is a section of my SS to show what I meant.

Yeah, that’s exactly how I want mine to look. Very good. I like how you included the estimated flowering times in there, too. Gotta remember to do that. I’ll ask my girl about it when she’s done with work today.

And I haven’t forgotten what “normal” is. That’s the problem, I still remember. And I’m pissed-the-fuck-off haha.

Off-topic, I want to encourage you to explore those Chinook Haze beans asap haha. I grew some Rare Dankness Tangerine Kush a few years ago, which is that same Tangerine Haze mom Gu used crossed with one of their RD dads, and it turned out amaaaaaaaaziiiing. So good that I felt comfortable buying a bunch of Rare Dankness seeds this summer. Real good weed for sure.

Bottem line…CV-19 sux! I am at the point in life where adapting has become easier…but like you, I miss what we had before it hit.

Thanks for the info on Chinook Haze. I haven’t bought anything from GPS since they started with the fems. Too many others out there, and am happy to still have some of their old stock that I bought when they had reverse auctions.

Yeah, I had never bought anything from GPS until this summer. The fact that Gu was selling testers when he first started out really rubbed me the wrong way. But after seeing enough grow logs online, I figured it was okay. Ended up buying multiple packs of a lot of his stuff (regular seeds only, I don’t do feminized). I planted three seeds of his California Cannon on September 2. One of them didn’t pop. Every other seed I planted did. But that’s okay. They look great now. Also planted four of his Tombstones, his Triangle cross. All of those sprouted and look great now, too. I’ll start a log here once things get interesting.

I got those testers as free replacements for the bogus S1s that he sold back then. Now someone else is breeding for some things GPS is selling and I have completely lost interest. When this all started, Gu had had a few shipments confiscated by the USPS. That had to be an inside job from the sound of things and I removed my information from their site. Gu was ok to deal with but before him there was a guy named Chip at the helm, who was a ripoff artist imo.

BTW…Sundae Stallion was piss poor when I grew it. It was an easy grow and looked nice but the finished product was not up to par. Wound up tumbling the flower to add to the kief collection…LOL

I actually dropped a few of the old Maverick last week. (Gogi OG x Stardawg)

i need to learn about that !

Lots of great info on Google…You can even start with a hair straightener.

After that, you can build or purchase a bigger press.

@Buzzer777 hey thanks, yeah tried the hair straightener got crap yields and cant lower the heat enough, Thought about buying a dabpress, but then covid came along and there always out of stock. but i need to try some good dab, see if it works for me ,before spending bucks on it, Hoping next yr they have the high times cup at Clio Mich, I can visit home and attend, maybe do a dab with granny

@Who

You will not get much, but it should work for you. If your hair thing gets too hot; try heating it and then shutting it off for a little bit to cool. 180d F -220d F should do it. (check with a heat gun if possible)
You want the bud to be a bit on the moist side…62% is about perfect.

Some strains will not press well.

Depending on which you are after…Dabpress restocked late last month.

You can also get their plates and a shop press from Harbor Fgt Tools.
This was a set that I was testing for Dulytech a couple of yrs ago (Dabpress mdse is bettter imo)

duly yeah was looking at them to, did do the turn oit on and off thing, it worked better anyways but just no yield, mighta been the strain as well. Thought about tjust getting the p.i.d. and just making the plates and press…but when i tried my clairol dab it just didnt do anything and the flower was better, probably burned it

I suggest not trying to make your own plates, if you can purchase the Dabpress ones (IMO caged are not necessary and are a PIA to work around)
The fit and finish on the unit(s) that I have owned from them is top shelf (No affiliation either).
The price for their anodized plates is pretty close to the no-name ones on Ebay etc.

Dab’s high is very different for me…Comes on like a freight train and is much more intense than flower…but it also wears off faster. Growers have an unlimited supply so it really doesn’t matter. :upside_down_face:

It’s very possible that you burned off the THC on your flat iron try.

Rosin returns are massively effected by the flower humidity. If you take months old flower, hell even two week dried flower, you will get less of a return then if you pressed them after 1 week when their RH was higher.

Another MAJOR cause of high/low returns is technique and knowing your press and/or plates.

Pressing is more of an artform than a science. There isn’t a 100% guaranteed way to get the best return possible on any flower you may have.

Every strain, humidity, temp, pressure, etc., they all cause your returns to be different. But IME, flower humidity at the time of pressing matters more than any other factor I’ve personally seen. If you have dry crumbly bud, it doesn’t matter how you press, you’re not gonna get a good return. At the same time, the wettest bud possible also won’t give you a good return if you don’t know what you’re doing.

Sometimes just changing how you’re pressing can make the crap return a big return. Sometimes you need more heat, sometimes you need a bit less, sometimes you need to let it sit on the flower for a couple minutes without actually squeezing it before you press it in order to get the rosin flowing. Whenever it does start flowing you don’t just mash down on the press more right after, you need to carefully and slowly apply more pressure over time to continue the process of the rosin flowing out of the bud/hash.

So DON’T fret if you get crap returns on your pressing, it definitely takes some practice, and the material you’re using matters a lot so there’s a chance it’s not even your fault if you do get crap returns.

your post @HolyAngel maybe the answer, i had taken and froze all the bud, made bubble from some used some for the clairol hair thingie. Was like freeze dried kinda. Best results i had was used some of the bubble with lady clairol

But at this point i just want to know it works b4 an investment, and then my state makes no distinction , btw thanks for replying @HolyAngel

If you can already make hash/sift, I would just do that and then press it instead. Then you wanna talk about returns

I do Dry Ice Sift with a 220 micron all-mesh bubble bag to make hash. The regular non-mesh bag works pretty well if you already have one. The all-mesh bag just makes it easier to do more than a few ounces at a time. Regardless, it’s super easy, no power tools necessary, only takes 2-3 minutes not counting setup and collecting, and the dry ice is usually sold at the grocery store for ~$2/lb.

I wanted to use dry ice as well, but live in the middle of nowhere, cant get it here have to drive 70 miles one way, so i just froze the stuff then used regular ice and cold water(from the freezer). I make to strong of brownies, need to figure out a way to dose better. Been making hash forever.
Thinking in a bit here, mainly because of this forum, of getting into the dab world, tried to buy some from the dispo but she sold me a cart instead ,because i asked how i was going to smoke the dab.

and yes it was a way better return and it came out much lighter in color! @HolyAngel appreciate the input!

Yes. Much of it is. Its picked much too late imo. Plants are grown for weight, not quality. A finished plant left to grow longer continues to get heavier, but quality goes down. More weight =more money for the grower.

I know where you are coming from, I’ve found infused coconut oil in keto fat bombs to kick in in 15 to 20 minutes and are ass kickers but of course tolerance builds. I been doing caps with indica and sativa am/pm with infused hemp oil as a binder works awesome. All my patients love them. The keto bombs have been renamed tyson KO cups by my guinea pigs lol

Oh that reminds me! This guy I know took 5 tablespoons of tincture I had brewed, even though I told him not to. He had trouble seeing, walking and staying awake afterwards. Each tablespoon was a single gram of weed.
