Medicating has become... boring?

Maverick sounds good. I just chopped a couple Gojis two weeks ago. Turned out real good.

I wasn’t aware of all of that GPS drama, I just knew that he was selling untested seeds when he first started up. Seemed pretty slimy to me. But, like I said, I found myself pining for some old-school-ish type shit, so I bought a bunch of his Stardawg crosses (and four packs of the Stardawg f2’s) this summer. We’ll see how they turn out.

I like to constantly switch what I smoke, and that works well for me. If dispensary weed doesn’t do it for you anymore, it could be that what yr smoking could all be related. Closely or distantly.
Much modern weed all has a similar cannabinoid profile in that it contains only thc in many cases, with the other cannabinoids bred out to favor thc.
30% thc comes with consequences. We are still learning what the properties of some of the other cannabinoids are and how it affects the high and tolerance build up.
30 % thc does not mean potency necessarily. Find some 10 -20% strains that are half landrace and you will have strong pot that contains a varied cannabinoid profile. It may do the trick for you. If growing at home, pick strains from different corners of the globe to grow. Constant switching from one strain to another in this manner and you will always have your good buzz.
In dispensaries look for total cannabinoids% rather than thc%.

Dispensary flower, even top shelf, rarely does what I need for it to do for me. The oils and dabs are usually good, but the medibles from there don’t do anything for me.

I recently was able to finally make some medibles on my own that did actually work for me with thanks to help I received here and research I did, so I know it isn’t just me anymore. Although I know that other people do get medicated from the store-bought meds, it’s just that they don’t make it the way I need it to be made to work for me, and I think the same is true for flower.

After you grow the same strain a couple of times you have it dialed in the way you want, you know exactly when to harvest so it is to your liking/needs.

Even with good homegrown the effectiveness is greatly reduced with overuse of the same strain.

In many jurisdictions, the state limits the amount of THC that can make it’s way into medibles. I thought that medibles were a farce until I made my own with my homegrown flower. Now I make them with rosin and they are the best!

Brought back memories of Alice B. Toklas Brownies back in the day…LOL

That is a great recipe - I never knew why they called them brownies - those are more like temple ball fudge. Actually, even old fashioned hippie brownies that I have had that caused others to hallucinate (not that recipe, but one where they actually leave the weed in the butter instead of straining it out, and then also drizzle hash oil over the top) didn’t do anything for me until I started looking at the science, and also following @ReikoX’s tincture thread here.

I think that you will be happier with the Stardawg crosses then with their feminized seeds. There have been intersex issues with a few (like Cookies and Chem) , but more so with the fems from what I am hearing.

It was when Gu joined up with that breeder/pollen chucker that I stopped buying from them. Not to mention their Credit Card debacles. They used Pay-O-Fix as a CC processor and the scams began. Had to cancel one card after using it on a purchase with them. Pay-O-Fix had declined a high limit card ) they never even tried to clear it according to my bank), and within 2 weeks, bogus charges were attempted on that card. It was then that I got a LOW limit CC just for buying beanz!

GPS used to have a sort of frequent buyer’s club, where you could redeem points for a discount on their seeds. Between reverse auctions and that…the seeds could really become cheap to buy.

That initial S1 fiasco happened when they (and other breeders) bought bogus S1’s from another breeder…Major shitstorm occurred with a bunch of their established customers. Again, it was less about the $$, and more about wasted time (for me anyway)

Sorry to get so far off topic OP. :grimacing:

Yeah, I don’t like Girl Scout Cookies anyway, so I skipped all of the GSC/Gelato-type crosses. And, like I said, I don’t do feminized seeds. I’m happy with what I got. The California Cannons and Tombstones I popped seem to be doing well.

I’d heard about all of that credit card stuff, but I’m pretty sure he got all of that taken care of before I started ordering. Just as a precaution, I’ve been monitoring my debit card pretty closely and nothing shady’s happened yet. And I placed my last order with GPS probably six weeks ago, maybe more, so I think I’m all good. I may cancel my card and order a new one, just to be safe, but so far so good.

@monkeyman Making your own edibles is the way to go, if you really want a true experience. I will say, though, a buddy of mine who was a chef used to make this Sour Diesel canola oil. He gave me a four gram bottle, my girlfriend at the time used half of it to make a batch of brownies. I dunno if the oil got distributed unevenly or what, but she fell asleep after about an hour. Meanwhile, I was up for like five hours, tripping my balls off. Having visions of what it’d be like when the wave that washes California into the ocean happens haha… It was not a pleasant experience. So unpleasant, in fact, that I haven’t touched an edible since.

I still can’t shake the visions I had that night… haha. I’ve eaten tons of acid and mushrooms in my day, but that brownie had me all fucked up.

Everything about GPS is everything wrong with cannabis nowadays. Gu and his bitch boy Heisendouche are such clowns I wouldn’t grow their stuff if they were the last beans on earth.

As to the OP
Taking your medication isn’t suppose to be exciting. You are medicating, not simply looking to get high and have an experience.
The best way to get the effects you want is to keep several good strains in your lineup. Shatter and such may be needed for the most severe cases but for most people it is not the answer as they take tolerance to a whole other level and generally make most people not be able to enjoy smoking flowers anymore.

Yeah, I really don’t know too much about GPS other than what I’ve already stated. I’m really anti-social media, no instagram, no twitter or anything like that. And the only grow sites I’m a member of are here and thcfarmer, although I never go on the farm anymore. I don’t do drama.

But I did buy those seeds, it’s too late now. Might as well grow them…

Yeah, the farm sucks now. I started my most recent grow report there before I decided to join overgrow, I think the last updates was like day two of flower or something, back in mid-July. I just harvested, so I’m gonna go back there and see that grow report through, just because I despise unfinished grow reports. But after I do that, I won’t be going back. Too many morons there.

Nothing like taking 3 tablespoons of tincture and then getting lost in a cave in minecraft. Ahh the wacky adventures of the tinctured up spelunker. Good times! Look! I found a diamond!!!

Not sure who, why or how,…but I didn 't delete/withdraw any posts here.

What’s the even easier solution?

You can buy the plates sized for standard shop presses, which can be gotten way cheaper than you can buy the parts.

Medicating hasn’t become boring for me… you just have to know how to do it right

not-boring

Any links?

I’ve looked into this pretty extensively and I cannot seem to be able to part together a diy press cheaper than a Rosineer (altho I have heard these break and they don’t really offer that much pressure).

That was the article I read a while back, I believe. Basically you buy the element and PID off Amazon and get any shop press within the arbor range and you are set! When I free up some budget I’ll be setting one up.

Yeah, the article simply is not true in the sense of saving money… Just for the smallest plates linked in that article it’s $299… without even adding the press, you are already over the Rosineer ($229)… now you will likely end up with something better tho, that’s for sure especially how like I said I have already heard of one person breaking it (altho it has a two year warranty) and I think it only goes up to 1500psi (which is also an unknown spec because is it 1500psi overall or is that taking into consideration of the plate size and actual pounds per square inch on each square inch of the plate). I heard the sweet spot for hash press is a .5 ton, so maybe it could work, not sure.

If someone actually sold just the aluminum plates with pre drilled holes with press attachment piece, if they didn’t mark it up much, I think this could be made for a similar price and end up being much better (because the rest is easy to build, but drilling into plates, you probably should use a drill press and that’s adding extra cost, even if it’s just a stand that holds a drill).

It’s a niche industry, albeit a growing one. Always prefer DIY, but even with my drill press I have two problems that means I can’t build my own press; that’s welding and milling. Sure things are marked up. In competitive markets prices are lower, on tighter margins. I’m small, less competitive ones…

Gantry doesn’t HAVE to be welded, but honestly it’s easier to find one already made than it would be for me to even find the steel.

Aluminum plates should be milled (probably). But look up the other parts, the controller and heating element. They aren’t much more expensive. I’m certainly open to more cost effective DIY; I just didn’t see the cost as a deal breaker if it saves me the grief of a ton of work. It’s not like it’s going to be a lot cheaper with the cost of material.

Interestingly I did watch a video a while back on a screw press basically claimed at, if I remember right, was around $50 of steel and outputted up to 2 ton. Of course it’s manual so you have to put that pressure into it one way or another. Have a way to regulate and measure it…

Like I said, I’m interested I’m hearing alternatives, I just don’t see it working out much better DIY.
