That’s what I’m talkin bout!
We aren’t finished with the succulent wheelbarrow yet. It had regular flowers in it before. A more drought tolerant garden makes more sense. It takes awhile to fill this thing up, it’s a lot of plants and is ready for the spillers around the edges, like more sedum, strings of things etc. So far, it’s holding up well and looking amazing all except the Opuntia in the center. The cactus don’t like as much water as other succulents and one had a melt down. The other one is still standing though. More than likely I’ll pull it too and add Portulacaria or variegated Elephant Bush there. Quite a few plants in there are considered rare in other states or come from Korea. Crazy succulent freaks like me would really appreciate it. I think it’s coming along nicely.
@Meesh - I admire your gardening skills! Those plants are gorgeous!
Great cactus garden.
My friend, what a wonderful garden! My jaw dropped! beautiful colors and shapes! Congratulations on your marriage and your achievement in moving away from tobacco! I wish you good vibes for this new season and I’ll be here to cheer you along!
Hey @Herbie ! Tell your wife that I still have all of those epiphyllums that you sent me. It’s been years now! None of them have flowered yet. They are very slow growers, but some have huge long leaves now. I haven’t transplanted them in forever. They may need a soil refresh. lol
Saw one curl coming up from the soil , Black Mamba is the overachiever of the year!
Love your greenhouse, very cool , willing to see it full of the plants we like the most …
Sometimes wettable and especially lime sulphur are banned in some jurisdictions because when mixed with an acid they release hydrogen sulfide, which is extremely toxic, and although low doses are detected as a rotten egg smell, at the lethal level it paralyses the olfactory nerve so no smell. In confined spaces it can be single breath fatal and is sometimes used for ‘sinister’ purposes, if you get my drift. That said, it’s probably for environmental reasons lol.
They need cool temps for a few nights. She says 55 degrees to get it to bloom. After it warms up if it got low enough. I had one bloom once. Huge flower but they don’t last long. I think 50 degrees is better.
Found it!
Edit to update-
Speak of the devil…
Meese the I see the green thumb is still working nice little greenhouse.
Nice to have you back @Meesh. I look forward to seeing this year’s monster’s you grow. Hope all is well with you.
Welcome back @meesh, new to og myself but looking forward to follow along your grow and start posting my own, good luck with the season
A few more signs of life and soil disturbances this morning. Mac, Sour D x Chem 91, 2nd Black Mamba.
I’m thinking they should all be up by Monday if they are gonna pop. It’s so late I hope I don’t have to replant some although it happens.
The greenhouse is gonna be for tropical plants. Orchids, Hoyas, Monsteras, anthuriums, philodendrons etc… and FERNS! I love ferns!
We very recently, the last 2 months have had our back gate and fence removed, a brick wall torn out, new concrete work, new roofs on the house and garage and a new back vinyl fence and railing for the front stoop replaced. Still need to get the house tented for termites and have new gutters put on. Needless to say, after a wedding and honeymoon and major house repairs, I’m broke as a joke. lol
@Herbie it got cold enough at night for them to bloom. What I didn’t know all of these years is that they prefer to be rootbound and they never were. I will repot in fresh soil and actually smaller pots this summer to try and force blooms. The flowers are so pretty!
Your hands and fingers do amazing work. 🫣
That sentence looked so so wrong.
Maybe give mushrooms a run someday @meesh.
I have some spores in the fridge @Greasy gave me, but I just haven’t had the juju to start learning those yet.
Yeah it’s a PITA if I’m honest. Who’d have thought fungus needed such a clean area to perform well??
These set and forget bags work OK. Far from set and forget though
Washing bare hands with h202 isn’t recommended unless your trying to avoid your prints being taken
So 2 seeds didn’t pop. The Charging Rhino (some fucking charge, lol) and Lemon Jeffrey. I’m gonna choose 2 more randomly tomorrow from my Fem seeds. Maybe Bubblegum and gorilla sherbert again. The Rhino was a freebie and the Jeffrey I had from a trade or random source so the LJ seed could have been old and I only had one of the freebie.
I got my shade cloth up on the greenhouse, but I’m gonna need a fan in there. It still gets too hot.
Started 2 new seeds today. Bubble gum and what I think is Chemdawg but I’m not 100% sure. It only had abbreviations and a bin # on it.
I have solar powered fans to help with humidity and help cool a little. Were basically done until fall just a few tomatoes in the greenhouse. We moved some plants outdoors getting hot up here.
