I hear people claim marijuana causes memory loss. I don’t think that’s entirely true. I believe if you are unable to remember what you did when you were high it’s because you need to get high again.
After all we remember what we did when we were straight when we are straight right?
If you don’t believe me next time you are high try to remember a good party that happened when you were straight…bet!.you can’t do it!
How much have you smoked this morning bro?
I don’t know. I’m not an expert. But, for me, I have found that periods in my life that have been extremely high stress and traumatic (military, divorce, losing close friends, mental health problems) have left me with serious gaps and problems with my memory.
During those periods, I was not using cannabis.
Nowadays, I use cannabis a lot. And I think it lowers my stress and helps me deal with tough situations in healthier ways.
And… my memory seems a little bit better in recent years.
Everyone else’s mileage may vary.
Go to class high, study high, take the test high, get high grades…
I tried that… once.
Cheers

I will say I have had worsening memory issues since the age of 10-12. I didn’t touch cannabis until 18-19.
I will also say, being high? Like actually high? Yeah, way harder to remember anything. Like my name. Granted I also have panic attacks that will completely blackout events. I don’t really remember how I get home, I just kind of show up. So I am not a perfect metric.
I don’t know if I can agree or disagree with you. Cannabis has help me remember old forgotten memories from childhood, but it’s made me far more forgetful than not.
It helps to not care about things I don’t remember, cant be that important if I don’t remember it…
If it was really important, someone will tell me about it.
Stress is best had in other people.
similar experiences agree with you.
@Who… Willie says memory loss can be a good thing…
My memory is bad but it has nothing to do with weed. It’s because I have sleep issues.
Whenever you recall a memory , your brain does not go back to that time , it goes back to the last time your remembered it , that’s why memories change over time , get gradually distorted and become inaccurate as we add and subtract a little information each time usually to favour how we want are memories to be eg I remember smoking xyz back in 75 and it was the best ever , tasted and smelt like abc : )
Yea well memory is overrated.
I’m one of those lucky people who have suppressed a lot of shit only to have it show back up at the most inappropriate times.
Hahaha agreed! I’ve been trained in music since I was a child but started smoking regularly at 14 and always did so when practicing. I cant remember how to play anything from that age onwards properly if I’m sober but if I smoke a spliff its all pretty much muscle memory again and instantly fine.
I don’t know. Stoned or straight… for 37 years, my wife has been telling me “I’d forget my ass, if it wasn’t attached”.
Edit: See, I forgot sober & straight are the similar conditions
once I hit my mid 60’s I’ve been forgetting stuff all the time…pushing 70 is definitely not for sissies…
I think memory is in part related to how interested you are in the thing. I find over a long enough time, I just kind of forget things have happened, either a conversation or a trip to a store or a meal. And that’s more to do with the fact that those events just weren’t meaningful enough to commit to memory. I have plenty of sober events that I dont recall details of. Or at least, that’s what I’m told. lol
I have always had short term memory issues and they definitely are not getting better. Funny I can still remember my eighth grade girlfriends phone number tho.
I think this might be along the lines of memory issues… I was just smoking a bowl out of my bong,… and I got caught up in the milky glass stretching colors up the neck of the bong that I soaked a full bowl and proceeded to dump bong water on my jeans. And this was only after one bowl. I’m smashed. Now I completely see why they call it strawberry cough, it’s harsh but very potent. Haven’t been stoned like this for a grip.
I always remember to get high. So it does not cause memory loss.
Now, where did the lighter go?
