MOTR grows with OniTenshu

Okay that post was too long. Basically my soil and tent environment confuse me and the only thing I found that helps is lukewarm water. I know you said that it dries out faster than it can retain it, but I’m not using water that’s steaming. I used water that was warm to the touch. not the hot end of warm either. I waited until the water wasn’t cold anymore to the touch and I maintained that temperature until I filled a 1 gallon pitcher.

I just checked on the soil and Zelda is retaining water longer than she ever has before. I’m also not rubbing my eyes and sneezing after I go in there too, so the soil isn’t going airborne anymore today. I’ve been trying to say when it gets dry the airflow makes the dirt(when it’s dry It’s not soil) blow around the tent and get on everything. It’s like dust, but worse.

They look a little wilted today, but they should be good until tomorrow.

I measured the temperature of the soil with my IR gun and it said the soil for them was at 94f and the leaves are at 90f. The air around them is 84f according to the hygrometer.

You said they don’t like that temperature, so what should I do? They’re all at 18" from the light.

I’ll chime in with an agreement on don’t water with warm/hot water…maybe get water out from tap a day ahead and just sit at room temps.

I can’t let water sit out for a day even open. My tap starts growing something in it if I do that

I think you need think about using different water. Or mix with your tap water. Dehumidifying unit produces Alot of water per day depending on the size. But if the water is growing something in it after a few days so is your soil. Maybe its for the best that your drying it out like this before each watering. @MomOnTheRun knows her stuff. Do whatever she says man, it doesn’t look bad either @OniTenshu, but try a different water source and see what happens for a few waterings. Flint mi, water and such…

My issue ATM is getting another water source. I have a container I left out a few weeks ago that still hasn’t grown anything though it is obviously still now. The only difference is that I boiled that water first. Otherwise it’s at the proper pH and free of chlorine for whatever reason ATM. Either way a lot of stuff happens at once and usually if I can’t get something the day I had originally planned this finds get lost and spent elsewhere as they were never my funds to start with and favors have a time limit. In general I’m always broke. I love my plants, but my health comes first always.

I’m finding a job anyways now that I can move again without needing cannabis to move my torso at all. Soon I can actually do what I’d like with my plants, but for now I’m stuck with what I have. Yes even a dollar is too much sometimes. Especially when it’s being asked every 3 days.

Cool man. I know better then most what it takes to live on 200$ a month. Food gas, cigs, weed. <img src="/uploads/default/original/3X/1/4/1461e5ea91ddadada8938801de302d7ada2f5da6.jpg"width=“375” height=“500”> this cost 2.98$. Great value grape juice. None of the other bands have anything besides vitamin c. If I can find little gems like this ill let you know. You need to ferment it firsts.

My issue lies mostly with protein. Good thing I like beans, eggs, spinach, and any cut of pretty much any meat on a store shelf. Iron too, but to a lesser extent. As far as cheap protein goes I’ve figured out that at least. If I’m not making rice and beans I’m eating eggs or I’m making something with chicken. $10 will feed me for 2 days if I get the right deal at the right time. If I get rice and beans that 10 will feed me for a week, but I’ll be nearly throwing up by the end of it as I’ve only eaten one thing for that long. It won’t feed me well, but it keeps me alive. When I’m not sick or something I eat more food than it looks like I can fit in my 26" waist. I’d give anything to be able to eat less and not waste away.

Overall if I have to ultimatum eating that week or watering the plants with distilled water instead of boiled tap water I’ll eat that week. I can’t live off water only for a week and function really at all. Been there done that. Won’t ever go hungry again if I can avoid it.

My nearest Walmart is 10 miles from me. I used to work there selling phone’s for boost and virgin mobile. Walking there isn’t possible as it’s on a stretch of highway :grimacing:

Drinks are easy to come by. It doesn’t keep me from losing weight and losing my mind from hunger.

Look for the pork loins. Half a loin or full loin. Then you thin slice then fry. It’ll get your cost down to a 1-2$ per lbs of meat. And you slice off what you want for a couple days and freeze the rest. In fact @OniTenshu I use the grease with the cooked pork in the water in the rice. Just salt the hell outta of that pork and use lots of butter.

Chicken on average in my local store is $1 a pound boneless and I’ll grab a few pounds and eat for the next 2 days off $3+ any extra cost for BBQ sauce or salt. I can guarantee you if it comes to finding food local I’ve found all the holes in the wall and stores who have prices lower than the rest.
When you haven’t eaten in a week and you have no way to eat for another few days you start window shopping and finding the place that will cost you the least even if you have to walk everywhere to spend the least amount of money. I’ll work it into my usual routine around the area and save myself time and effort getting food.

Also I have no fridge or freezer anymore, so I have to think about that when shopping too. While it’s cold out I hang a bag from the window

As for nicotine my closest gas station 5 minutes away has the best prices on Blu pens and refills anywhere around, but the worst pricing on juul. For cigs they have really good prices actually :ok_hand:

Now when possible I don’t smoke anymore. Usually I just bum a cig or 2 depending on what they feel like giving me and when I can I get a vape. I really miss my gx350 mod. That thing was just the right weight, shape, and side for my hands. Even when my hands were frozen I could use that thing. It only occasionally works now and then it days ohms too high. Womp womp.

I’d like it though if I get the job I applied to today. It’s not too far from home and it’s a low stress job I can use to ease myself back into working again. I had really hurt my back. To the point I wouldn’t apply for jobs until I felt I could work without hurting myself again. I still shouldn’t dive head first and put my back into a job so soon after feeling better either.

I’m following to the best of my ability. Sometimes I can’t get what I need in time though as with no income I’m really only lucking out getting anything so far this grow really. I hope I can finally afford to get the grow going properly soon and not have to compromise heavily.

I love Calvin and Hobbes  I own every one of the comics in the compilation book I found as a kid. I started by collecting them at yard sales and garage sales around the state.

@OniTenshu . I’ve been thinking on it and I think I might have figured out what that warm water was working your plants better when your water heater heats up and breaks all the nutrients calcium buildup everything that’s in that hot water heater and puts it into your water so if you would put hot water in a jug and let it sit overnight and cool to room temperature you’d probably have the same effect without the heat source scorching your plants 80° to 90° you will lose your THC levels and after taking a second look at your dirt it looks like it would be okay you’re probably just giving it too much water at a time and then letting it sit too long in between try giving smaller doses during the watering cycle but water a little more often Take a sponge or a cube of rockwool I feel something up to where it goes halfway up and set that in there let it sit a day and then feel how the top is moist that’s really what you want your dirt to be like you never want your dirt to completely dry out and if it’s just drying out too quick it could be the water vents on the bottom or draining too much anyways take it or leave it just my opinion on the matter

Yes it would it has a lot of stuff store dirt doesn’t have

And compost really wouldn’t hurt either be very good for your dirt if it’s good good compost it’s been broke down very well I would even go as far as mixing 1/3 of it and with your dirt and that would more than likely help retain moisture to

My only issue with my garden soil is it’s high in clay. I learned that when I wanted to try using it only originally way back when. Just from handling it it was way too dense and heavy to dig at the surface. Maybe once it’s worked in a few weeks it’ll be a different story.

For now I’m going to try and get that compost I’ve been eyeing. The storm made it a pain to get it anywhere. Most everything is frozen or lost.

Dang right I bet that would be pretty bomb. Any fish or crustaceans compost will be amazing for your plants. And I don’t know if you’d be able to get that up there this time of year but if you got some wood somewhere that would have Moss or peat moss or any type of moss that would be the perfect thing the fluff your soil and the more Easter retention is amazing

I’ve been thinking of ways to do exactly what you’re recommending actually. I’ll look into ordering it online and worst case scenario I can try again at my local shop.
