They are looking great even for a heavy hand which most of us have
They are settling and probably appreciated being watered in…remember: when you see no top growth = roots growing/expanding
Basil is a great companion plant in a larger volume of soil
Nice! Though help that baby out by misting plain water inside a clear cup then put it over the cutting…it’ll love the additional humidity and help it root faster
Probably…if the room’s humidity is higher then yes, you are extracting too fast
Don’t put any in the 3gallon soil as it is maxed out with the 4 plants though I see its too late. Luckily its on the edge of the pot so may not last long as the wet/dry cycle continues
To my knowledge I didn’t add anything to the 3 gallon pot. Just the Lucky’s. I’ll take another look at the pot to see what you spotted and pull it.
The soil I was talking about was soil I mixed up just to grow the Basil in I’ve been drying out all week to make sure it wasn’t too wet or too dry. The Lucky’s pot only has their soil and the soil from the 3 gallon itself before they went in.
I didn’t see anything going in at all. Did you mean the clover that’s gotten new life apparently? Yeah I thought they were dead too, but apparently not. Despite all I did to that clover it bounced back to life on the edge there.
Here’s this mornings pics. I’ll need a bit for better picture quality. My eyes need time to function now. I can’t tell the difference between a blurry shot and a clear shot until I can see my screen.
Sure looked like the basil is on the edge of the pot in the 4th and 6th pic down though now looking at it, it does appear to be an illusion with the closeness and a couple pieces of the clover raised up…my bad
Gotcha
Clover is tough to die off when its established…makes a nice cover crop for these smaller pots though more importantly humic/fulvic acids that are produced during their breakdown to feed the soil
I took a liter bottle and placed it over the cutting. it’s making new fan leaves already. I guess since it never went into flower it didn’t technically reveg, so normal 5-7 finger (I admit I didn’t count) leaves are popping out now.
As for the rest they’re all going to want water in the morning. The control is already starting to droop again. I swear it has a death wish😅
Also the sprout came out again. Same seedling. Different end of the stem. Also at the base of the stem.
Its just on a different watering schedule getting thirsty a day before the others…putting it in the same pot forces it to wait a day longer than it wants to
Yeah. It looks like a grain sprout probably from the catgrass mix I use sometimes…great cover crop though it will compete with the cannabis roots
Control is drooping just in time for a watering in the morning.
I’ll pull it then. It’s not worth making the roots sad to see it grow.
It was watering day for the rest in the tent. Somehow I got them all thirsty today. Zelda drooped and Tulip was dry at least 4" down. Basil, clover patch, the new herb pot, and even the cutting soil. I didn’t mean to either. It just surprised me that Tulip got thirsty after she was 4" dry. She must really like her soil then if she’s not even drooping after it’s that dry. The rest I noticed by chance are on the same watering schedule. I don’t water then all at the same time usually. The Basil I wait until it droops and then I water it. Every 2 days or so.
Okay, so training will have to wait for later after I can get the materials ready. For now they’re watered and made to lean over to each other.
They still had dust and debris from the soil on the leaves, so I sprayed them down with plain water also while they got water in a attempt to get what seemed like transplant powder on it. Whatever it was it was white, grey, brown, black, and any shade in between.
Here’s before watering. The control stopped drooping oddly.
Nothing quite beats binder clips (4.00 for 50) and pipe cleaners (2.00 for 100)
Sounds like residue from the transplant
its still drooping just not as apparent as the others are starting to get thirsty
When you do lst to set them in place anchor their stem by putting pressure going the other directin than your bending to give a nice “L” shape like this…
Pull top down 1/2 way then 1/2 way again after 24 hrs…repeat until the lower nodes are exposed to the light. since the node spacing is so close together shoot for ~80 degree angle
I trained them down, but I couldn’t do the 80° bend like desired. I got pipe cleaners to train them, but they were nearly pulling out of the soil when handled, so I had to be extremely gentle with them. It took some time to finish, but in the end I wasn’t able to get them to a reasonable angle other than that one and in the end they just gave in to being manhandled. The tops already started to move a bit from what I did earlier angling them slightly.
Whelp, I have it marked down for you to flip 1 wk after the LST this way the lower 4 branches (2 nodes) will have a chance to get a bit bigger before the flip as when you do, they will put on 1-2 more nodes each through the stretch giving an opportunity to harvest 6 buds from each girl or 4 buds from each if taking clones like I am.
Yeah, can’t do it all at once or risk snapping them though bending a bit more every 24 hr period works like a charm…it helps if you put the pipe cleaner that is pulling the top down higher up like right under the top most leaf set so its not shading the lower nodes
Yeah she hasn’t perked up any with the humidity dome so may not take though they always look like shit just before roots are thrown out…the longer the leaves stay wet, the longer it takes and run the risk of mold developing. I say give her some more time unless she falls over which is a sure sign she is dead…Sunday, i’ll take better pictures and go step by step on how I clone though there really isn’t a right way as different techniques work for different people. Just have to find one that works for you
No worries…whenever I hear ya on the “rule of 3’s” as I am going through some of that now though gotta keep looking on the bright side and moving forward…shouldn’t be too difficult as the weather is warming, plants coming out of hibernation and energy is returning with more daylight. Speaking of, I have to get outside and start plucking cottonwood buds while the resin is sticky and before they leaf out…free rooting solution and pain reliever boost for topicals - win, win
