It’s Sunday again! Nine weeks old today and the girls have grown so fast, they have already moved into the largest containers, with a little bit of coffee and a tiny bit of fertilizer mixed into the dirt. They seem to like their new homes and even Maggie (3rd row back on left end) has perked up and had a growth spurt. Seems like she’s trying to catch up with her sisters! If you look at the picture from last Sunday, you can see a real difference! (Maggie is the tiny plant in the first row, left front corner.)
Some if these girls are getting tall and I’m starting to wonder when I should top them and/or take snips for clones. I’m still so new at this, I’m still learning and unsure about these things.
Here we are again, another week older… a little taller and looking leafy.
Maggie the runt, 3rd row, 1st bucket on the left, is no longer the smallest plant. Maybe it’s true the talking to them and saying encouraging things can really help, cuz she’s bigger than Meredith now (2nd from the left) who has been treated to the same dirt, water and lights as Maggie, but Maggie is leaving her in the dust! Won’t be calling her “the runt” any more!
Everyone got their first regular dose of Dr. Earth fertilizer today, so we’ll see how it goes.
Week number 12! Several of the girls are really tall, so I have started trimming and topping them. The others will get their haircuts as the get taller.
I bought these seeds directly from the grower: Amsterdam Marijuana Seeds (AMS). They are very well known for excellence.
Catherine’s strain is called “420 Carats” and as far as I know, AMS is the only legitimate supplier for this strain. We have planted them before (had some seeds that were 10 years old, and they still grew!) and everyone loved it.
I just topped and trimmed her, and used the snippings for clones.
My girls are 13 weeks old tomorrow! (Sorry, I thought this was Sunday—oops). 🫢. All of them were topped this week, trimmed a little and the snips and tops were planted for clones. We’re movin’ right along!
Here’s a pic of the clones… they’re still green, but so far, I can’t see any roots through the clear plastic cups. They’re taking their time! That’s ok, if they all survive, it will be a huge job to raise that many babies at once… God help me when I have to trim all of THEM in a few weeks!! It will be a clone explosion! LoL.
Side view. I’m going to have to turn on another light fixture so I can spread them out!
The babies are growing too… some of the ones I moved into 32 oz cups are already showing roots, and six more in the little cups need to move up to 32s. So everything’s movin’ right along!
Week number 17, and the big girls have moved across the room to make room for some of the clones that have grown so much, they have moved to cat tubs of their own. I have trimmed half of them today and plan to do the other half on Monday (that’s why a couple of them are off to the side, as I moved them around to make it easier to reach the others).
Does anyone else have a problem with throwing away clippings?? I am a clipping HOARDER. I’ve heard of SEED hoarders, but for me, it’s clippings!!
Every time I top or trim, I poke a hole, stick it down in the dirt and water them… I figure, if they live, they grow up and turn from trash to real plants in a matter of days… if they die, they weren’t meant to be. Almost none of them die! I don’t do anything special except keep them wet for awhile.
The New Girls are getting taller and some of them will need to be topped and trimmed too… good heavens, what will I DO with all those beautiful potential clones? Can’t throw them away while they still have a chance at life!
The infants are in the kitchen nursery… they came from the second trim, but there are a few of them that probably won’t make it. It always hurts to give up and throw one away… but I am running out of room!!
I checked the infants and found a few that needed bigger pots. The ones in the kitchen nursery grew better than I thought… I expected to lose half of them but look at them now! The kitchen babies caught up with the other clippings and so far, only one was beyond hope.
Some of the kitchen babies have sprouted roots and have been moved into the plant room… they will be getting bigger pots this week. Some of the rest are turning yellow and may not survive, but most of them still look like they are trying to live:
The big girls need to be trimmed again and have some branches tied down… they are big enough to go into 12/12 light, but I’m trying to give the smaller ones a chance to catch up. They are getting so big! One is about 5 ft!
