Your plants look like they are loving the stronger light! Controlling temps is always tough with HPS, or really with any light. LED’s are cooler, and more efficient, so each watt of power used is converted into more light.
I am just making up these numbers for explanations sake, but say 100W of HPS makes 66W of light and 34W of heat, whereas 100W of LED will make 90W of light and 10W of heat.
But either way, LED or HPS, more powerful lights will make more heat. And controlling/venting this heat is critical.
One Idea, if it is in a closet, is to buy a new, replacement door for the closet, so that you can drill a 4” or 6” exhaust hole in the door, and connect it to a 4” or 6” inline exhaust fan. Using a sealed, vented hood, designed to exhaust the heat will help even more (maybe the “cool tube” you discussed) but even with an “open” light hood/fixture sucking a large volume of air through/out of the closet will help. If you go this way, try to suck the air out of the closet from close to the top of the closet, as heat rises. Relocating the ballast to outside the closet will/is also helping, even if it is hard to notice a difference.
Also, take and post a pic(s) of your whole closet setup so that we can see your light, the size of the space, the hight of the light, the type of light, all that good stuff! The more information we have the better we will be able to help you!
Good Luck! You will get better, and growing will get easier and more intuitive, with each crop/cycle you get under your belt. Even failures will teach you and prepare you for future success!

I will take some pictures later today so you can see how I did it, but this is a neat build becuse I moved 1 year ago to this used new home, the living area is on 1st floor and under I have a nice open space with a small division where the old owner used to have some wine wooden drums and is is about 2x3m inside.
Well this division had 2 duct with 5 to 6 meters to outside, so I left the bigger one for intake air from the outside and the smaller to exaust the heat.
I decided to open holes sideway more or less in the middle of the light course to bring the inside athmosphere thru the light and cooltube and then just drop the heat in the room, acting as a room heater helping in winter because it is a cold room.
So far so good, they are loving the 400w HPS.
Led may be great but the price difference is overwhelming and I won’t get any more chinese led crap.
So I went with the hps, I take advantage of the light heat to warm the air that comes from the outside before entering in the closet from the top and descending between the closet wall and the white plastic to the bottom or it.
On top I have a carbon filter connwcted to the exaust duct…
With pictures will be easier to understand but I can only take the pictures in 4h that is when it become day inside.
Right now I am going all right, thay are loving the space and I want next 2 months to fly because I am really curious if I can become independent and don’t need to buy hash ever again.

So… This is what I have to show before becomes day in there.
I recently acquired a new home, and one division leads to a small room.
There are 2 pipes from the outside to that small room:
On the other side I have the big one with a net for mice and the small one continues, I decided to keep the large one as intake for the small room.
Under this intake is where I store my seeds because is dark and cold.
The exaust tube that goes on is attached to the duct that comes from the main blower.
Last week with the arrival of the cool tube I opened the side holes where I assembeled the lamp blower with a falling tube as intake and on the other side the same to keep hot air flowing up to the left side of the build.
On the top is the ballast, main blower, and the closet air intake on the top left of it.
That room inside is my addiction room, was supposed to store the wine, my airguns and rods and fishing material.
As you can see there is no more room there because when we moved I built a wardrobe in my son’s bedroom, so I took advantage and ordered some spare sheets of drywall, build a frame in wood, attached the drywall panels outside and made the closet, the cardboard grow in front of it is where I germinate seeds and have the older led lamp on it.
For now is what I can show, oncw the lights come on, I will show the inside.

So… The air comes down between the plastic cover and the drywall back plate to the left bottom corner, now is covered by the leaves.
Here you can see the cooltube and lamp assembly
In this one the filter to cover any odor to the outside.
The door are 3 cheap winges on a drywall plate with some screws and wire as lock, all the joints were sealed inside, outside and there is a rubber to use in windows I used on the door to make it more airtight. And the dual fan soda bottle to blow the cannopy away🤣
And that is it, right now.
