My first Hydro Setup 🌿

they recommend ph 5.5 some variation in the ph isn’t hazardous to their health.

Right, they would have more nutes available in that range, looking good so far … beer3|nullxnull

When I ran hydro I would shoot for 5.5-5.7 and let it drift to about 6.1 before topping off or changing the res and resetting to 5.5-5.7.

Yeah I find I get best root growth around 5.6. That’s where I like to keep the aerocloner at, but I do the same as ReikoX for Flood and Drain and DWC.

I’m hoping that after a couple days of the 5.5 this levels out. Perplexed about the ph plummet…

At least the God Bud looks like she might survive! :muscle:

Veg
fed with 1 gallon 5.5 @ 1.0 ec
Runoff = 6.2 ph / .8ec

Flower
2 gallon feed ph 5.5 - 1.4 ec each
Back tray
2-3-21 = 5.1 ph / .8 ec
Runoff = 4.9 ph / 1.0 ec
Front tray
2-3-21 = 5.1 ph / .9 ec
Runoff = 4.8 ph / 1.0 ec
Purple cake
2-3-21 = 5.3 ph / 1.1 ec
Runoff = 4.8 ph / .9 ec

Edit : can over feeding cause the drastic ph drop??

Found this when I was running DWC, hope it helps …

The chart should be helpful, I’ve used it for forever now.

So how much exactly of what nutrients are you feeding @nefrella ?

If I use maxigrow/maxibloom products at a half teaspoon or less per gallon, there is not enough nutrients to manage the PH and it’ll raise or drop real fast depending on what the plant is doing. I need 3/4-1+ tsp to really have any type of built-in ph management or stability in the res.

Found this one! Much easier for me to understand :heart:

Hahaha - Cherry Queen…went from pheno hunt, to preservation run :joy::sweat_smile::woman_facepalming:

Things that I suck at : germinating seeds. This time, used the : seed soak then put in root riots after crack, then bottom watering. Apparently, way, way too wet. I think im going to have to go back to basics, throw em dry into the rooter, and just water 2x daily.

Soooooo, needless to say, man, I hope I get at least one boy. Hahahah

It’s like a science experiment- except there is no logic :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

One of many edits:

I think that the ph runoff in this situation is not an accurate way to calculate, it seems so odd and a waste of time.

If I keep the same ph input at 5.5, wouldn’t it make sense that ec runoff if the plant is taking up nutes, the ec will drop. If the plant is in balance, it will be consistent, and if in lockout would go up, right?

Looking good @nefrella. That sucks about the seeds starting. I know the feeling. I just got some Rapid Rooters. That’s what your using right?
I’ve been gone for a while. I lost my Note 10+ in the woods. It’s very upsetting. It was doubling as my computer. Why I would be running around in the woods with my computer I don’t know. Now that I look back on it I should have treated it that way. Went back 3 times to look for it. What can you do right.
Was it always your practice to take that much off your plants? I can see if you didn’t have much room. But you have quite a bit of space. I was just looking at the plants you almost have done and it looks like you trimmed quite a bit off. Do you end up with the same yield either way? I’m just asking out of curiosity. Not saying your doing anything wrong.

Honestly @LilJonB this whole hempy bucket grow style switch is all new for me. I’ve always done soil previously.

I’ve found I really like it, and it’s a perfect compromise between soil & hydro.

The growth is epic, but I do see how dwc would blow hempy out of the water. Haha.

I’ve got clones in my cloner that I haven’t had time to get to, and now the roots are grown down into the reservoir, and holy cow, insane growth…almost to push me to clone for longer periods of time to get the wicked growth, which I suspect I’ll be doing from here on out- longer roots = faster to reach the water at the bottom of the hempy.

The plants in the flower tent are getting their week 3 flower haircut. After this trim, im going to Litfa.

I hope that the results are good, so far, so good. These ladies are on fire and starting to stack on the sticky.

Side note, pulled the 2 fast bud gorilla glue and omg, grape and diesel. Sticky, and purple.

Yeah I love my DWC buckets. I might try Hemphill in the summer if my temperature of my buckets seem to be causing issues. I think the hempys might be easier to do a SOG in then running a bunch of DWCs.
You say you like to wait to wait for new pistils to stop growing before you chop. I never could wait that long. I think the longest I’ve ever waited was 75 days on the bubblegum I ran outside last year. She was still throwing out pistils.
How long did you do your that Gorilla Glue for? 2 Fast Buds. Is that another company, not Fast Buds?

It’s the 420 Fast Buds company.

11/20/20 germination, yanked em today 2/6/21

I’m kinda blown away. The only change I made was a ph change from 5.9 to 5.5. Not sure what clicked, but glad she’s pulling thru.

The plants seem like they’re blowing up, growing crazy.

Think I underwater and the one seedling damped off…we shall see. Going to grow out these 2 cherry queen and just pick another strain to hunt. Really struggled with the germination, just going to go old school plant in rooters and water 2x daily.

Hi @nefrella, I’m curious, there is constant running water underneath and the pots are filled with only perlite? newbies… Do people go crazy on doing makeshift set-ups, meaning improvising and creating compensations on their own? Thanks!
