Its super late in the season, so im just doing quick flowering strains and the super-auto OG crosses.
Not sure what i’ll be doing with those few males that i wont seem to be able to kill, lol - happens every year.

Most every seed - except for Burning Bush - sprouted 
Only one of the Burning Bush seeds sprouted. But, they are around a decade old.
I usually soak and then plant my seeds.
This time, I wrapped them in lightly moist paper towels, then put the paper towel in a sealed ziplock bag. I was worried about fungal attack, but so far so good.
Im planting the seeds in solo cups with Happy Frog soil.
I usually build my own soil, but the season is late and funds are tight.
The laws seem to be grey and in limbo in NY, so I may have to do strong selections to cull very early on (before flowering).
I miss the outlaw nature of California and being able to sprout a few thousand seeds in January and harvest in November/December
Where I am at, it freezes as early as October and it gets humid and rain in August and September. So it should be interesting - for the last few years, it would go four or more months with not a drop of rain.

Also, just found out my parents are gonna sell this house that me and my sister are living in - FML
Im gonna see if i can find a place to rent in western NY for cheap.
Worst case scenario, i go back to Washington. My buddy has land and a trailer i can live in. If i do that, i’ll go to school at evergreen state for drug rehab and counseling. Since I already do the medicine man thing, ai might as well get training/certification and do it properly

If you can do off grid & lots of rain then big island is a bit further west but an option.

Yeah, this line throws out so many genotypes that bring me back to pics of the 60s and 70s.
Im so blessed to have gotten an early fgen of the line from BOEL. THE F3s I made (like this one) have so much variation that I can find each if the parental lines. I dont have enough F3 x F2 to pass around, but enough to make a reproduction of the line if done properly - which means cloning each plant and flowering clones of all the females to clones of each male
For example, females 1-6 x male 1, females 1-6 x male 2, etc etc. So its gonna be a project, but one I feel is worth doing right. Id also like to combine it with pure Federations Hawaiian, pure Lambsbread, and pure Thai. The Vibes Oaxacan would be a nice addition too, as well as Snowhigh’s old Mexican lines. Im still working on researching which Affy’s BOEL brought back between 1968-1971.

Ive got a few messages asking how i make selections
I sometimes have a general idea of what im doing before I plant, but then some seeds yell at me.
like last year, i meant to only pop a few packs, but they kept speaking up to pop more and more and more.
I popped a few thousand, but i wish i popped more - as i realized the premonition to keep popping seeds was that i would have a fire burn down my home and seed vault 4 months later.
So, intuition, mostly. I’ll start with selecting a few as i go through my vault, then a few will fall out of my hands or make their selves known in some other way.
Then, as Im growing them out, they really start to communicate with me.
I’ll look for commonalities or aspects that compliment each other. Like, high voltage and devils tit have durban, so add malawi with the golden tiger x cherry cake.
I used to keep a lot of notes. But then i just got used to keeping track of everything in my head.
I do take lots of pics on my phone to keep track of morphology, then a notebook to describe smells. I also notate on my containers notables like great root structure, smells, which parental line each plant leans towards, etc.
From there, I let the plants speak to me.

I catch myself sitting around thinking about the purity of the strain, the challenges it took to get to my hands. My responsibility to continue the preservation of said strains. Then I realize I’m driving and should pay attention 
. It’s great seeing photos and hearing everyone’s growing experience.
