The Choc Funk silver pheno is about dry. Smells quite potent. Fuel and a hint of bitter curry
It’s a nice clear buzz and pretty strong with it
any smoke report on cured MB? choc funk bud looks thai like siam bud.
@MAHAKALA Some is still curing
Here’s a young Big South Pump bud of yours. Looks to have picked up a little pollen but it’s still making plenty of frost and smelling fantastic!
yeah man and can you describe smell? it is hash machine.
It’s hard for me to describe but I love it! It’s sort of a sweet and sour, lightly fruity fuel to me, strong but balanced like expensive perfume
Can you remind me what the parents are? The 2 plants I have look different to each other
Thanks bro
at 2012 I crossed two different sour diesel cuts, one of them was riri, and one chemsour7 cut with bangi haze males, as in that time I thought diesel x haze has to be the best weed in the world…
now it was great, it made diesel racy and speedy… race car driver weed… we tested here through and through, and it showed that riri diesel x bangi haze was the best combination. I selected strong racy pheno, it was quite shaking with me, with huge calyxes and wonderful anise liquor diesel smell… yummy… it was great, just problem for me was that the effect lasted only 2 hours… more than diesel sure… but for me not enough, you know me bandit… so I crossed it with big sur holyweed sandalwood male… big sur holyweed is cross of mazar and mexican sativa, that mazar is apparent,
but the effect stays uplifting meditative and it packs nice potency, but what was the most important for me it was long duration and that it packs potency, so I infused it into diesel/bangi and prolonged duration. that is the story. it is long time project…
I am smoking some haze x vietnamese hash now. I strongly recommend you to try asian neville.
it is quick around 70 days or so… it is really special. great euphoria with some punch to it… this bud you showed, it looks like mazar with higher calyx to leaf ratio… but it smokes like strong sativa hybrid.
I think it is really shame there are not many big sur holyweed hybrids made in modern way. this american legend has potential to make really good commercial hybrids with special effect… I saw some csi humboldt had zkittle x holyweed. I have no clue what holyweed they used and if it is good, how it combines with zkittles. but it is really needed to cross it with something loud and with higher calyx to leaf ratio. and mother of BSP was like that. look at it:
Interesting, I ran a BSHW x Congolese Black IBL and it was potent from the Congolese side but the effects didn’t resemble the kind and euphoric effects I’ve read about BSHW. I’m growing two BSHW from Lemonhoko now, so I’m stoked to get it relatively pure, but what traits do you look for it to pass on, and how do you achieve them? As father or mother? Thanks and as always so much respect for your work
I used both males and females. I selected grape cut of it, it is sandalwood grapey, irresistible grape. there is mentholy pheno, blueberry pheno, overall it is all very sandalwood though. I dont like grape weed much, but this one was ma favorite for a while. and crossed it with haze. haze ran over it, so I recommend to use males… but truth is that I keep one pheno of bshw/haze… but not for that effect you mentioned.
now there are two basic phenotypes, purple ones which are more short, sturdy and they contain more thc, surprisingly quite a lot. they are also more stony in effect. and green phenos, taller and with less thc. for the effect you mentioned you need green sandalwood pheno… it needs selection and select from more plants, as at every inbred line, I can say that it is hugely inbred. so much that it is very hard to open it with outcrossing…, I will not tell you my selection know-how of course hehehehee
I used same bshw line, which Kagyu from Coastal seeds uses and works with…
On weedmaps there isn’t even big sur holy weed anywhere in the bay except a cross of big sur holy weed and trainwreck
I smoked some Snow X BSHW by CSI and it was really good. I feel like the Snow ran over it but it was a nice hybrid with fruity sandalwood Terps. I haven’t grown BSHW pure but Vermontmans Oaxacan x BSHW is pretty similar to the original I bet.
yeah man it depends on combination. not every combination has to be winner like BSP
So which traits usually come through the strongest, the male or the female?
generally mother brings terps and father brings potency… that is at true F1 hybrid… two distinctive and inbred lines which breed true… but when it is three way like BSP or at polyhybrid, the system of trait distribution is more complicated and depends on particular phenotype which traits are more pronounced, which are more back grounded, and what new traits you can find etc… then you can be lucky or you know how to combine, which parents to choose and you can only know it if you know lines used very intimately…
like I said before creating BSP we grew tons of diesel/bangi and more versions of it… so I think I know line very well. first I grew chemsour/bangi, which was very good, but more leafy and rapsberry/turpentine smells didnt fit to my projects, I wanted anise fuely terps and strong diesel dynamic punch in effect, but with speedy energetic traits from bangi…
I grew also riri diesel x dj short f13, so I can say, even in that case, riri diesel works the best in outcrosses from all those diesel cuts around… although I dont like riri diesel to smoke so much like I like ECSD to smoke, but riri makes better outcrosses.
Great information, thank you! Do you know if Kagyu’s BSHW has any relation to Bodhi/Lemonhoko’s?
There’s a Holy Crack - Green Crack x BSHW preservation run going on now if anyone is interested
They are different AFAIK. IIRC Bodhi called his “Big Sur Holy Bud” because he wasn’t 100% sure if it was the actual BSHW.
