So here we are, finishing up week 6 of flower. I had been feeding these girls with cal-mag, Megacrop, Sea-K, and PK Bloom Boost at every watering. Then I noticed the K deficiency showing and was confused at first because of my use of the PK Boost. Then after seeing it get worse, I read up some more and found that too much Cal-Mag can cause K lockout. So, I’ve cut out my cal-mag additions in this latest watering and going forward until harvest.
My question is a) will they be ok?; and, b) is there anything I should do to the effected leaves (eg, trim brown spots or remove completely or leave alone)?
At this point there is nothing to do but keep moving forward and hopefully they have enough healthy leaf surface to make it to the finish. Should be ok. I wouldn’t remove anything to be honest. Hacking at them will likely just stress them more.
I’d also back the light down 20% (I think of it as the accelerator pedal and you are in a skid).
It looks like you caught it quickly, I made a worse mess with CalMag a few years back and still got some good bud out of it…
If you do get necrotic leaf tissue you might want to trim as that can be a fungus breeding ground, it’s a judgement call.
Well, coming to the end of week 9 now. The yellowing has stopped getting worse. Not sure if it’s because I cut back the cal-mag additions or because I raised the lights a bit. Regardless, lots of buds and it should be able to go another week before harvest. Thanks all for the advice!
Today I watered and reduced the light to 75% as I’m planning on harvesting in the next week or so.
