OB's First Autos

My thought too.

Moby Dick is at 65%, so weighed a QP out to test the Grove Bags. Iā€™m afraid Iā€™ll overshoot if I try to get exactly 62, and 65 should still be cure range afaik.

Totally weight is 145g

(Edit - went back and saw the last weight i posted was 145.2. I disregarded a few decimal pts when I weighed it this time, and since I am pretty sure having the RH drop does not cause weight increase, my scale must be a piece of crap. At least I have a rough idea of where it is)

Here are some pics of the Bubblegum. Looks like it still needs some time, but Iā€™ll get some trich shots tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks all

Unsteady hands donā€™t make for the best zoomed shots, but looks like the buds are starting to show a little amber, so Iā€™ll probably bring her down on Tuesday. I canā€™t seem to stop the plants from drying in about 4 days, so I like to try and line up the trim days with the weekend, since it takes me so long.

Wonderful work man, you inspired me to try autos. Maybe Iā€™ll even do a little hydro set up for fun next. Hope I can pull weight as easy as you.

Thanks  I feel lucky, making out with as much as these have produced, but if autos are this forgiving, I may give them another go at some point.

Itā€™s my understanding photos are easier, more forgiving. But in this particular instance, I really need to get a stash built, and I canā€™t take my HID away from my vegging plants. Flower under 16/8. I didnā€™t super trust autos or fems, but seeing results here and of course trusting the breeder (Sebring FTW). Iā€™m super stoked at the idea of having fully grown plants in only a few months!

I guess forgiving was the wrong word. They definitely gave me a harder time than the photos Iā€™ve run. I had just attributed that mostly to mistakes I made. Thinking about it though, Iā€™ve made similar mistakes with photos, and their leaves didnā€™t look quite so bad at the end. Donā€™t think I havenā€™t had a plant produce 5 ounces yet, though. So thatā€™s nice. They both took about a month more than the breeder info states.

Plan at this point is to chop her on Tuesday. Then clean and move the tent, and pop some testers for my next run. I also have 2 MAC clones that are starting to branch up a bit.

I took like 1/2oz 3/4 at most of my first three plants, so Iā€™m hoping for a big increase for my second yield. I can tell by my vegging plants Iā€™ve gotten a lot better, so Iā€™m hyped.

With the photos they have time to recover vegetative growth. Autos get forced to move along, ready or not.

Chopped the other day, and hung the plant whole. Just snipped all the buds of the branches, and I donā€™t have it in me to hand trim another plant right now, so Iā€™m thinking Iā€™m going to use the bowl trimmer. I canā€™t find the blade for wet trimming, and the buds were still kind of damp, so for at least tonight, they are going to air out in the trim bin.

Is that a special bin? I didnā€™t know those bowl trimmers came with a wet trim (blade) option. Thatā€™s pretty cool.

Yeah, idk how much a difference the other blade would make, but figured I should use it if I can find it. I had seen it recently, so I wanted to keep looking.

Thatā€™s the trim bin I normally use for when Iā€™m trimming. It didnt collect a whole lot from the MD, and I assume that is because I am closer to a wet trim, and the MD was dry, so the trichs would have been more brittle.

Trim bin makes trimming better pack a bowl with dry sift from bottom.

Trim bin for the win

Well itā€™s not the best trim in the world, but it got a lot of it. Iā€™ll probably snip anything big off as I toss them into a Grove bag. Iā€™ll update with a weight once I get the rh stabilized.

Thanks @G-paS and everyone else who has tagged along

As difficult as these autos were at times, its looking like they are the biggest producing plants I have grown yet. Still newish to all this, so thatā€™s not saying a lot, but I definitely will give more autos a try in the future.

Current upcoming projects (not all set in stone):

  • Next up I am going to pop 4 cookieland testers and hope to run 2-4 of them.
  • I have to MAC clones just starting to get their veg on. I would like to try and make some beans, and keep a mom going to get some flower for myself
  • After the Cookieland, I think I will make some Bubblegum beans, seeing as I was fortunate enough to win those at the BBQ. Figure I should get some back out into the site.
  • Also thinking of doing a terp comparison with a fem GSC thin mint pheno bean I have. Run dirt/hydro side by side and see how they compare

Good job man. Looking forward to the next grow. :+1:

Final totals
Moby Dick XXL - 145g (5oz 5g)
Original Bubblegum - 210g (7.5oz) (fixed)

(sampling the MD so far it has a woody, maybe cedar type of taste, and its definitely more of a daytime, uplifting high. It gives a nice rush, then mellows out a bit)

Those are some really great numbers bro. How long did you flower them for? I was only averaging 3 oz per plant. Before my last grow of corse.
