OB's First Autos

So the idea that maybe the light is too close was presented to me, and at first I was pretty sure it was the feeding level changes, but I realized I had not checked since they first started flowering. The light manufacturer says 18-22" during flower, and mine were at 17" from the highest point on the BBG. After looking over the pics on GWE, I am starting to think they might be on to something with this suggestion. I cant really recall them ever “praying” up towards the light, but as I go down the page, some of these symptoms are present.

I raised the light up to 20" from the top most cola, and will continue to monitor

  • edit: Accidentally put 10" instead of 20"

I’ve been wrestling with my Bridglux array.
After figuring out where the ‘barbecue setting’ was

I found a cheap lux meter worked great for setting up and monitoring during growth. There is a wide variance in what different cultivars will tolerate. (tropical sativas’ light will cook indicas).
A meter takes all of the guesswork out, well that, and keeping notes…

Cheers

I had some issues with light height myself, last run.

I downloaded an app, and tried to test, but it didn’t work out very well…

I was kinda trolling around for a cheap meter that might actually help, but kinda clueless with the par, lux, ect-

I went with this one…

Could be that the light is too close. When that happens the need for more water, nutrients, and CO2 go up. Not to mention it can rise leaf surface temperatures and lower humidity levels.

Could also just be the plants finishing up. Those buds are nice and chunky, I’m guessing they would be done in a week or two since they are autos. I like to lower my light intensity the last week or two to encourage senescence (plant death).

Nice job. :+1::seedling:

Thanks everyone  I really appreciate the advice from you all. I love input from those who have been at this longer than I have been growing. That should be why we are all here :green_heart: :brain:

I am a little scared to lower the light for the MD because the Bubblegum has been going so slowly and I don’t know how much longer it will need.

I also tried the cell phone Lux meter app, and was advised before hand that while it may not give the best reading, it should still allow me to see the relative adjustment decently. I will probably grab one of the meters though. It seems like a relatively small price for some good information.

Part of me also questions the accuracy of my pens for reading the ph and ec. I’ve been questioning if I should spend the coin for one of the pricier pens, or get a few calibration kits and start doing that pretty often. (

Picked up some 5 gallon buckets and some SuperThrive from Lowes, yesterday. Buckets are going to be for single plant DWC systems, and the SuperThrive is to try and help some clones that aren’t showing roots yet, and the lower leaves are starting to yellow.

The SuperThrive was leaking inside the box, so I went to exchange it today and also left with a Dremel. The buckets have flat tops, with a raised Craftsman logo, so I got the Dremel to try and level the surface around the edge of the net pot. Should be handy to have one either way, so I’m ok with it.

The bubblegum seems to be moving along, and the MD is starting a yellow fade, which looks terrible with the state of the leaves on that lady. Trying to leave the MD up until Friday, because I won’t be home for part of the weekend, and with how quickly they are bound to dry, I would prefer if it didn’t start until then. I trim so slowly, so I want to be here, fully focused on watching her dry. I want to get her in jars and grove bags asap. Earlier than I have in the past, so the RH doesn’t dip too low and lock in that very familiar chlorophyll taste/smell.

Got up at 6:30 this morning, intending on chopping before the lights came on. That’s when I remembered that these autos have a shorter lights out period then my normal runs, and the light was already on :sob: So I’ll be chopping sometime tonight.

Here’s a pic of a little bud that I missed during clean up. I’ll be trying to leave that when I cut down the rest of the plant.

You look like your going to come out with some decent weight man. Fantastic job!
I think your going to like the individual system set up better. Will alow you to give one exactly what they want with out the other objecting. Can’t wait to see how you do.
You know what you might be running next?

As soon as the bubblegum finishes, and I can move the tent to a different spot, I am going to run some of the Cookieland testers (GSC x Black Candyland from @Purple-N-Hairy ). I think I am going to start 4 of them in the new single buckets, but I don’t have the plan locked in yet.

I also have a rooted MAC clone, and hopefully can get some roots on a Mendo Breath cut that has been in a rooter for over 3 weeks now lol. I plan to make them both mothers, so I can make some seeds, and some seed free buds.

Sounds great man. I will be looking forward to seeing your Cookieland and I’m interested in the MAC as well. I’ve seen a lot of damn fine MAC plants on here. Lots of luck to you.

Moby Dick is trimmed and bagged. Before the following numbers shock anyone. I knew I was trimming earlier than I should. I’ve had issues with bud over drying on the last few harvests, so once the the thinner sections started feeling crispy, I started trimming it up. It had been hanging about 3 days when I started. Took me 2 days to get it all trimmed.

At the moment, I am using the Grove bag to sweat the moisture out of the bud by leaving it sealed until the RH stops rising, the taking them out for some air for a while.

Last night it was up to 89% with the bag open before I sealed it and went to bed, and when I woke up it was 92%. I took the buds out, made sure they weren’t stuck together, and let them air out on a paper plate for an hour or so, then back into the bag, but left it open as I finished trimming.

I just sealed it up at 78%, and will let it air out again in the AM. I stirred them up in the bag a few times today, by hand.

I know I am still going to loose some water weight, but at the moment, it all weighs 145.2g

That’s not to shabby for autos man. Good job. I will be definitely sticking around for the true weight. :+1:

Here are the 2 plants today. I’ll get the final weight when I have the buds stabilized around 62%

The bubblegum isn’t the happiest looking plant ever, but she’s coming along.

Autos are funny. So I wouldn’t take it personally bud.

I dont think it looks bad. The leaves just don’t look so happy. Looks like there is some purple in there that I was not expecting, but its hard to tell in this beast. The trics aren’t as dense as the last few i’ve run, but that’s ok. Looks like it’s going to produce a bunch.
