OG Kush - The Original Genetics

Not really much else to say , it could be any number of things combined and I doubt it will ever be known. Stranger things have happened but the people who may have known would be in there 70s by now and from I understand are not in communication with any of the people who want to know and or were initially involved in its creation.
Also I’ve never confirmed if the emerald triangle that was being grown in Florida was from seed from units coming in or a actual plant dude was gifted , I’m assuming it was grown from seed found in pounds of emerald triangle , now if that’s the case we’re adding a possible mystery male into the equation or a possible herm situation so it’s really just to many variables to long ago.

You’re confusing “kryptonite” with the Emerald Triangle.

The Washington blocks wrapped in news paper.

Ahh yes that makes sense, there was a guy from Washington involved with the crew the emerald triangle came from and my mind somehow glued the two things together

The AAA and the sativa side of OG goes back to Air America towards the end of 'Nam.
Kris Kristofferson was one of the pilots, Barry Seal was another of the pilots.
What a lot of people think of as Thai being in OG is actually Cambodian.

The first real good Affy came to the States in '68.
NL projects were in the 80’s.
A few people have described OG as far back as '88

Some of the stories, or fabricated parts of them, cover up the people/organizations involved with global narcotics trade going way back and still going on.

I’ve definitely seen kush and AAA coming from the same place the same summer around 2000 - 2002 in los Angela’s. Cambodian wouldn’t surprise me either or even a columbian type but there is definitely something effecting the growth traits and high in a major way. Many columbian plants I’ve grown looked a lot like og but with a completely different terp profile , I’ve also seen some northern lights examples that looked very similar , hard to ever say for sure past a certain point.
From what I’m aware of AAA is most likely
Cambodian #8 and it was absolutely delightful and very high priced.

@Wuachuma @Heritagefarms here’s an interesting thread from a while back, seems the OP Nyckid was sock puppeting to hype his AAA but got called out by Nspecta, though “Charles Xavier” who I think is Reeferman confirmed that it’s probably Cambodian #7, fun read with some pictures, and bonus Jason King begging someone anyone to give it to him:

Yup, #8…or wait maybe #3. Lol. Also called Asian Fantasy by Cannabible dude, coming from an Asian dude near the Russian River west of Santa Rosa. He has been associated with the Dead since the Pranksters started and was one of the original tapers (it was cool to be able to go to Terrapin Station for free with him a bunch of times). So, it makes sense he was given such amazing, pure genetics. Ive met a lot of Dead Family who have the oldest stuff people thought were lost to time.
My thought is AAA / Cambodian got crossed to NL2 x NL1. Chem definitely has NL5 and another NL, maybe that NL2 x NL1 male…and likely a Skunk from the Dead / H.A.
Really, the H.A. are an arm of the Dead / Prankster family.
AAA stopped getting passed around in pure form after the 80’s. So the Asian Fantasy is really a hybrid of other lines he had around while AAA was the real thing from the late 70s.

K, I should probably stop typing :upside_down_face:

Wow thank you so much for your input, @Heritagefarms, @Wuachuma and @Dirt_Wizard.
So it’s the Thai/Cambodian high does really come through after all. Good to know that I’m not that crazy after all! :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve gotta say, one of the most annoying things about cannabis history/genetics discussions is referring to a plant by it’s country of origin.

Many times it’s not even correct, but even worse is discounting the massive varieties from many of these countries. Calling a cultivar “Afghani” is about as descriptive as calling something “Cali Bud”.

OG and TK lean heavy towards Kush x Kush (Aka NL2 x Kush4). They’re either Kush x Kush dominant ET x KK hybrid plants or pure Kush x Kush S1’s.

not all sources of afghan genetics are disclosed or even known unless the seeds were harvested from the source. Seed lots from say Mazari sharif , Sar Hawza or Lashka Gar or Sheberghan denote the specific regions in Afghanistan the genetics were harvested from. In reality though, a great many seeds came from the afghan region with no denotation of region of origin. Many were just called hashplants it seems as they came with the hash loads back in the 80’s and 90’s. I get what you mean though and it seems the cannabis community can’t all settle on agreed upon nomenclature when it comes to labelling a plant. In truth it should just be wide leaf drug plant or narrow leaf drug plant and hemp… perhaps ruderalis as it is a distinct landrace with its auto flowering characteristics… I dunno… just baked and pondering

Yes, that’s probably one part of it. But most of us who have an interest in smoking old buds have tried the variety and while you have a point in the type of plant. It doesn’t make sense for the stretch and high. Something else is also in OG…

I have Nevill’s NL2 seeds. Which Seattle Greg gave to The Holland Seed bank in 1985. I have F2 seeds from Neville’ NL2 , which is the pheno Nevill polinated with Jim Ortega’s “Kush 4” male.

If you know where I might find the real “Kush 4” descendant directly from Jim Ortega’s “Kush 4”, i can make three batches of seeds per year by pollinating my Neville NL2 seeds with a male from the “Kush 4” seeds. trust me I’ve been searching high and low and I’m starting to think they go by a different name and found only in seeds banks that are in the Netherlands or surrounding regions.

I know we won’t get the same exact pheno that was later called “OG Kush”…but I’m sure if enough of us pheno hunt it, we can get really close and possibly discover an even better pheno to be later called “Overgrow Kush”

These are true NL2’s. None of that bogus hybrid shit that is being sold today as “Original NL2”.

Understand that NL2 was given to Nevil with the description of it being an Afghan x (Afghan x Thai).

45 days. I haven’t seen anyone flower anything that fast that claimed to be one of TK or OG

You take that at face value?

Those numbers are there to show people that the line can provide fast phenos, the majority will be 8-10 weeks.
