Ok - something is dining on my indoor babies…. What could it be?

So my babies are about 5-weeks from pop. They’re indoors, growing in coco loco. I was lazy and did not sterilize the coco coir mix which has been sitting inside a plastic tote with a top inside my garage.

About a week ago I noticed a small round hole about the size of a BB in one of my leaves. Inspection (eyes only - no microscope yet) of all leaves (they’re still quite small) topside and bottom revealed no vermin.

The problem progresses each night.

No caterpillars, no snails, no slugs. I suspected earwigs , but haven’t been able to prove it.

I’ve set out sticky traps with no luck and have reapplied DE. Thoughts?

It almost looks like the leaves were damaged when very small and they are growing out with those damaged leaves. Looks like a zipper got em or something.

Check the bottoms of the pots. They can live around the roots in drainage holes. If you’re saying you suspect them I imagine you’ve seen them in or around your grow/home. I’ve had damage just like that from earwigs before.

Totally possible. I FIM them last week. The hole and the progressing damage has me doubting that though.

Thanks - I’ll look. I have not seen them, but did read that they are nocturnal and can cause that type of damage. Weird bugs. They’re actually maternal and care for their offspring and eggs…

Looks like caterpillar damage to me. Any way one could have hitched a ride inside?

I thought so too. I just can’t find little Conrad….

I’ve seen similar things on the leaves of my indoor moms and it has been from collateral scissor damage when I’m topping/fimming. I wouldn’t worry until you see damage on new growth and you haven’t had scissors near them for a bit. You’re good to go IMHO.
