Oldest weed in storage

Hi all:

I’ve got some in my freezer but the oldest I’ve got in jars is just over a year old. Cured, then sealed forever with a boveda. I just opened it and it’s as good/better than when it went in the jars.

Anyone else with long term storage success?

Over 5 yrs. Not all are 5 yrs old, just 1 jar is full of old budz…I have Ogre, Romulan, Schrom, Pine Tar Kush, Matanuska Thunder Fuck, Airbournes & Pacific’s G13, Catpiss, Strawberry Cough, DK-13, K2, Arcata Trainwreck, UW etc. The rest of the jars are from current grows…

One thing about my 5 yrs. old budz though. They’re not as green(oxidation) as they were when I first cured them but the flavor is still there. This is my homemade strain DK-13 and I can taste the Hawaiian Purple Kush.
Here’s the lineage of DK-13

Black Domina x Hawaiian Purple Kush x Pacific’s G13

Well that’s quite interesting. Maybe extreme loss of chlorophyll?

I always figured I’d make hash with the older gear before my stuff got that old but I’m not there yet!

All the best.

I’ve Gone well over a year in mason jars. After I seal the jar I wrap it with tin foil to keep light out. As good or better than a regular cure imho.

The only reason I’m hoarding these budz is because I dont have these clone only strains anymore…Eventually they will be all smoked on special occasions but as of now I have plenty of current budz to get high on.

Lent started yesterday and every year for the past 5 yrs. I’ve given up on boozing/smoking for 40 days/nights, so now I have 39 days to make up my mind on which clone only strain I’m gonna smoke for Easter.:joy::sweat_smile::rofl:

Haha, im the opposite… my old buds are usually my worst. I like to smoke my bust buds/hash first, that way I’m always smoking mt best buds/hash.

I just harvested so I’m waiting on a proper cure for the new buds. Thus I’m breaking out the best of the old buds

Edit: I’m aging a hash just for the sake of it. I’m trying for 10 years but I’m already getting antsy

I prefer to let mine age unrefrigerated/unfrozen in mason jars. Occasionally burping the jars, like to up that CBN to aid with sleep.

I have lebanese cured 5 years, still pretty good. heavily seeded so it was always kind of dry.

I have 3 year cured ethiopian x afghani that has become insanely potent. I can’t even handle it. After I hit it I feel the effects for days. It’s like it totally changes something in my fight or flight response and I get increased energy levels and these intermittent dumps of adrenaline for days after I smoke it.

I’m disabled so it’s not helpful or productive for me to have all this energy and adrenaline surges. Super weird.

I never took acid, but it reminds me of how a friend described acid flashbacks.

I keep hitting it because the flavor and euphoria is so good but it kinda messes me up.
totally different effect than when it was fresh.

I’ve found jar weed once it reaches a certain time and changes colours to be all the same taste doesn’t matter the strain . Just something about old weed that has a smell and taste that’s not pleasant.

I’ve never jarred and stored in a freezer but vacuum sealed in the freezer is my preferred way to preserve its flavours .

I’ve also noticed old jar weed transfers it’s aroma to what ever you do to it ie : bubble hash ,oil, baked goods they all develop that same smell and taste .

I want to come by for a session with that smoke.

Yes, my old weed is kind of dry too…when I want to smoke some I usually take a bud or 2 out and put it in a baggie with a big big fan leaf and by next day it’s hydrated again and I can roll a joint…

Thats a great idea. I have some of my purple pebblez OG that dried out a bit more than I wanted because I didn’t tighten the lid all the way. I’ll have to give it a whirl when lights come on later tonight.

I recently had the seal fail on a jar. It dropped to 45% rh even though there was a boveda inside. It was hard as a rock. I ordinarily keep them at 60%.

Fortunately Mrs Foreigner is less picky than me, and fortunately it was a small jar.

It was about a year old. It’s a bit of a shame because it was pretty nice stuff. But only a small shame. No big deal, I have lots of other jars.

The lebanese is dry because I needed it to be at a humidity stable for seed storage because it is seeded bud.

The ethiopian is still nice and oily and sticky.

That’s a clever method for rehydrating bud. I never liked it when people would try that with orange peels and other junk. But using actual cannabis herbal material sounds like a great idea.

I found this to be true for polyhybrids.
but this doesn’t seem to be a problem for many landraces and heirlooms.

My guess is that is has to do with selection process. On large farms in many hash producing countries, the plants will sit for up to 5 years before processing. So any selection made based on final product would likely be done at this stage, not with fresh plants or recently dried flowers.
