Opinions on this osram led

LED Grow Lights for Marijuana, 800 watts OSRAM Horticulture LEDs, GROWant G5 HiPAR Series G800 White, Full Spectrum with UV + IR Best for Indoor Plants Veg and Flower, Aluminium Alloy Material https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JKO7VT4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_klWWAb8P58GFA

For that cost you could go with SolStrips and be using one of the most efficient diodes on the market.

Be careful.

“MOST HIGHEST PAR/PPFD PER WATT, 80% more output than market exist grow lamps, Core covers 4’x4’ (maximum 5x5’ ) grow area at 24” height, consumes 270 Watts only to replace 800W HPS/HID/MH grow fixtures or other brand 1200W led grow lamps, 2/3 electricity bill saved.”

270 actual watts in the description raises red flags for me.

Yes but that is the industry standard in the LED business, sell “made up watts” instead of the draw-from-wall watts…

I mean, no matter what LED you buying you need to be always looking for the real watts, very few manufacturers / sellers are selling “real watts” - of course marketing wise for dumb ass stoners 1000w sounds a lot better than 200w. :stuck_out_tongue:

Was studying the spectrum plus quality and par output of the diodes and quality

I’m in the electronics trade. As far as the osram diodes they are on PAR with Samsung’s. Slightly more expensive and other small differences but not a low quality diode by any means.

I read somewhere that good hps fixtures are around 20 to 22% efficient while good led units are around 50%… That makes a max improvement of just over 25% which supports the commonly held assumption that 400w of led light is roughly equal to around 600w of sodium. I cant see how 270w of anything could ever equal 800 but if anyone finds some way of achieving this please give me a shout first cos i want in on that tech for sure.

Wish there was a review on these.

For $400 you can buy a Gavita 600w HPS that runs the efficient 400 volt bulbs.

There is no way to know if real Osram diodes are in this light btw.

Just get this with the 240w driver and be done with it, plug and play ready to run.

Over 100$ cheaper than the product linked in the first post and it’s already been proven and tested by lots of us here.

i love this option a lot and more that have the 2700k option but i will need 2 of these to cover w i want

Honestly I would avoid all these junky imported LED’s. So that one is $800 and they claim it’s 650 watts. For $900 you can buy a Fluence VyperX at 525 watts, made in America by a professional horticulture lighting company.

The Vyper only weighs 7 pounds and has passive cooling. So you’re not hoisting this huge mass over your plants, and running fans that suck bugs & dust into the fixture. With LED you want your investment to pay off long-term - how long are these imported no-name LED"s going to last compared to something like Fluence?

When the diodes start winking off in a year or two, will the company still be there to support and service you?

$378 dollars vs. $900 is a big difference and shipping to hawaii best option is amazon prime and more for a person without job and at the moment unable to work due health i am testing the one i order if don’t see something good just return it and see w other stuff can fit my budget before had to use the money for other stuff and then have to lay down and start to grow much smaller

that’s why I suggested the $400 Gavita, the $900 Fluence light was the suggested altnerative to the “Matristar” $800 light you posted.

Good LED’s are not cheap, and cheap LED’s are not good.

Personally i would hold off until i could afford a solsheet x it wont cost much more even with delivery and you wont have to pay 20% import duty like we do over here but it will pay for itself real fast. Alternatives are many obviously but you need to make the size of your grow area suit the output of your light and vice versa. There are people selling led cob rigs on ebay, your 378 dollars might be better spent there. Stuff like this turns up on our side of the Atlantic, must be someone your side doing this kind of thing too.

and i think it has one of the best spectrums in the market at the moment Phyto-Genesis Spectrum

couple of Gavita options on Amazon under $400 shipped. These use the most efficient HPS bulbs available

I’m no expert by any means but I believe you need 550 or more ppfd to get optimum photosynthesis.
The foot print on the product page shows that available in a 1ftx1ft area. You’d get better coverage for cheaper with the solstrips
If your decent with a soldering iron you could buy

At around 350 watts and swap the cobs out with these
