Organic Adventures

I used the Mayonnaise container only because I can get my hand inside it to clean it out & because of the dark lid. I guess I can just pull it out also and dump the material out on top of the soil… Hopefully this works out well :relieved: and the food doesn’t rot uneaten by the worms.

If I had used pvc pipe, I’d possibly would have ended up using the wide mouth jar anyways.

They are out bush so no pics off hand. We’ve been getting plenty of rain so haven’t stopped out recently. I’ll keep you posted.

1 hours after the lights went out, no worms to be found inside the feeding chamber ,(
I’ll give it a few days & if no worms then I’ll just pull the chamber out and dig a hole everytime I feed them. Like i did in the worm bin.

Honestly no idea. Lol I write the addy on the envelope & not the OG user name… If you sent me your addy in the last 5 days then I’d say yes.
Otherwise no.

Ok I can’t remember when, but I recall sending you my info and never got anything :disappointed_relieved: lol not sad just wondered if it got lost. I always make sure to let everyone know when something is received.

I’m sure it will arrive soon. All mail for me sending. Received is taking forever still.

Thank You for all the love.

I’m currently doing dragon fruit tech in my bins, filled with rock dust and coffee grinds

Do they need this? I can’t seem to keep mine alive. I thought worms easy right? I have bought two expensive bunches and not seeing more than one or two.

They do need some grit to help them digest food. I’ve sprinkled in some sand or dirt before I went to rock dust.

Make sure you don’t have your medium to moist or dry. They should be relatively easy. Post some docs of your setup. @G-paS

I have ground egg shell in mine. Does it do the same? I thought that is why I put it in there but not sure. CRS

I would think that would work. Some people use that to add calcium I believe.

You’re more than welcome.

One of the reasons I’m here is to pass on some of what I have learned from those so gracious to help me.

They don’t need it to survive I just like to get in the mix so it becomes plant available once they are done with it but that is more for directly in the pots with plants to top feed… that’s if you have worms in there obviously.

In the worm bin just like @Badger said moisture levels are really important also over feeding is a common mistake, I did it myself at first. If the food goes anaerobic before the worms can eat it that can kill them, so less is more. If you have lost some worms they would have laid eggs before they died so don’t discard your substrate or let it dry out too much, they will eventually hatch. I dumped my first attempt years ago out the back of my land to find months later it was full of worms and I now have 1000’s in 4 bins from that same lot that originally died.

Thanks for the help. I did let the bottom get dry after a month of nothing. I am making sure the whole thing is moist. Need to go remove old smoothie.
