Overgrow.com: Let's Talk About the Future

Ok , back from garage now, but I agree with not making anyone pay for anything on here, just do what ya can. Take for example, me! I jumped on here not to long ago, seen how cool it was, won some seeds from Doug’s giveaways and I thought I was on top of the world, now thanks to wizdom sending me useful boo seeds that had some discrepancies about authenticity Im still growing those out and hopefully turn a couple to males and have a party, I plan on giving these away OG style.

Very very well said here @Hashpants
Thank you for summarizing and keeping the topic organized

Holy shit y’all, I stop checking in for half a day and this thread has 100+ unread replies (turns out 25% of them are flagged anyway  )

On this point, if it’s an issue of increased need for management due to higher membership then would it help to add more mods? I’m just brainstorming here (and not volunteering  )

Not cool at all. What is with this weird financial gate-keeping of growing, Is this born of an American cultural thing? I don’t get it. Many people grow. Some on a shoestring some gold plated.

That is the nice thing about this community, Everyone is welcome regardless of who you are, How much you earn ect with Zero barrier to entry.

This community supports one another. I have seen massive acts of generosity both on going and one off since coming here. Can’t afford seed? Members will send you some, Struck by life’s many disasters? Members will pull together for you. I could go on and on.

Quite frankly f**k gate-keeping peoples access to info on how to grow this amazing plant. :facepunch:

This is Overgrow not Pay2grow :love_you_gesture:

Joe can make as much money as he likes. He provides a service to us good folks. Just don’t forget the humble Foreigner when you’re rich and famous :joy:

I’m not sure if that was the intended message.

The people who do not donate to the site may not do it not because they do not want to, but because money is not easy for them to obtain. Instead of money, they invest their time and energy into this place.

Flagging is how the ship stays afloat with the help of its crew.

It is encouraged when a user sees something against the sites ToS and helps mods keep it clean around here.

The same could be asked of you. It is the moderators job to police the forum.

You know what I don’t find entertaining? The extended rehashing of complaints by one person. It’s like having to read a bunch of off topic banter, but all compressed into one post by one complainer. Oh joy.

Korea is very clean as well.

So lets take him as model for the exercize

  • join for free
  • one tier at 1$
  • products : long podcast for ~2 bucks, niche
  • basic fast pooped merch no one want ^^
  • present almost everywhere in social networks … but not intensively
  • the profile of the guy, the momentum, primed; Joe rogan … ok ^^

This way is making Joe a representative figure of OG, that incarnate it for us. Well, a bit more that an admin … an activist with podcast and all these shits. Joe is the product in this strategy ^^

Yeah but even Dan Carlin doesn’t go on Joe Rogan anymore.

Forum moderation and users (rightfully) flagging posts is somehow comparable to the atrocious regime running North Korea? Because otherwise I don’t know what your comment means

Sounds like there’s been some regulation on the chit-chat in the end

I think most of the possible solutions have been listed in the different contributions already, unless someone comes with a novel way to raise money. I mean, other than a grant from the bill and melissa gates fundation. Maybe OG could fill one for the preservation and spread of old heirlooms

It’s up to LJ to go through what was proposed and see what is actionable I guess.

All this flagging is childish.
I am betting it wouldn’t be the case if it were not done anonymously.
Are we not all adults here?
If you disagree about something state your case.
The fact of the matter is there is nothing in the TOS stating that banter in a thread is disallowed.
Here is what is stated about this in the TOS:

“ Contributions should be constructive, relevant, and respectful. Posts should add value to the discussion.”

This is a pretty broad statement and could be taken many ways.

I am sure every person on this site has strayed from the subject of the thread more than once.
Just because it is banter does not make it invaluable, or irrelevant. As long as it is respectable what is the harm?

Let the moderators judge what is relevant, beneficial and respectful. That is their job after all.
If this forum becomes a nazi forum where we all have to goose-step and fall in line I will be out the door fast.

If we are to get to know one another we have to be able to communicate in a fashion that is open to discussion. Isn’t that why we are all here?

Please stop all this childish flagging just because of your own personal opinion. If it is an obvious violation of the terms of service that is a different thing and should be flagged.
