Peat moss replacement?

I was gifted a couple bags of this peat moss replacement from a convention that happened recently. Anyone ever hear of this stuff, Pitt moss?

Supposedly it’s 100% organic recycled natural materials that’s ready to grow in. I’m gonna test it out and see what happens. Hope it’s as good as they say. :crossed_fingers:

So wouldn’t it just be a compost? Is that a pepper seed visible in one of the pics of one of the bags?

Never heard of it before reading your post but it sounds interesting! Looks like it’s a soil replacement made of Recycled paper with small amounts of organic bark and some added nutrients.

I can’t wait to see how it does for you

“nutrient enhanced” which most likely means synthetic fertilizer.

If they can’t be fucking transparent about what’s in there then I’d pass it by.

There’s no informed choice that can be made here, it’s a total fucking mystery.

Also paper is very often mixed with plastic and god knows what binding agent, not to mention ink that can be toxic. Where do they source their paper?

And they ask a fuckload of money for it, it’s basically shredded paper drenched with synthetics, what a joke! If a company doesn’t give a description of their process, sources and ingredients then how can you trust them at all?

Perhaps get yourself some certified organic coco coir instead.

I don’t disagree with any of that @Rogue . I love me some Coco coir.. Got these for free so I figured I’d check it out. Haven’t even seen their prices.
