Photoshopped Bullshit

I’m posting this thread which has nothing to do with the fine folk here at OG.
What I’d like to address is ‘Breeders’ and Seed Banks that use these Breeders that photoshop and photo edit pictures.
Often these sites extol and entice growers with enhanced photography and exorbitant prices, sometimes into the thousands of dollars.

It has been my experience growing cannabis that these pictures are not only totally fake, but designed to rook uneducated growers from their money, under the guise of pipe dreams.

Specifically, I’m calling out Copy Cat Genetix, and every ‘Seed Bank’ like them.
Maybe I’m out of line here. Maybe not.
Find out for yourself by checking them out. I won’t even disrespect this site by posting the link here.

The bottom line to my post and the point I am trying to make, is this.
Do not fall for pictures and descriptions of cannabis and believe they are going to grow and finish like the pics. They just won’t.
Ask another OGr for advice before investing your hard earned dollars. So many great minds here will share only truth with you.
Great cannabis does not have to come at a great price. Great communities, like OG, however, are priceless.

I’ve always wondered how they photo shop them? Are they adding in more trichomes? I can see they can change the hue of colours etc . I just checked out the website out of curiosity and holy crap 750 usd for Oreo big stuff :flushed: that’s a bunch of cash for some seeds! Crazy

I’ve known that for years…

That’s why I don’t ever buy any from these seed shops ever since some states went legal, because you know it’s just false advertising, they all hype up their strains…You’re better off creating your own…The only place I bought my seeds from were from Neville’s Seed Bank, the one and only original seed bank.

A good photoshop guy can do a lot. The best ones were the guys in porn before the internet. Add a freckle here and there.

Yes pictures are bullshit. I had one exception where the breeder description was exact and the picture was even right but I’ve only ever seen that once.

I once photoshopped the dankest purple bud you’ve ever seen :joy:

I mean, everything about that Copy Cat Genetics situation is sketchy

It’s not just seed breeders it’s all advertising. That why your favorite fast food meal doesn’t look like the one in the commercial. (The ones in the commercial are inedible)

They definitely increased the saturation on the photos and sharpened the hell out of them, but I don’t see any REAL manipulation. Nothing looks out of the ordinary. The prices are stupid but that’s just the new trend.

I know a guy who is a food stylist and the little tricks they use are neat.

I was once working on a press line of ours in Toronto, and somewhere between the presses, and our shipped crate of parts, we had to walk through a studio set up with a food display, for taking still shots, then those pics went straight to the plate maker department, so those photos could become advertisements.
It was a beautiful table laid out with plates of food, glasses filled with? on a long dinning table.
Not a freaking thing there was real!
On some shelves off to the side, hamburgers/hot dogs/salads/ every type of food, things to build a scene, all fake.
I do not think they used real food in advertising since the 1960’s

I just remember they used mashed potato as a substitute for ice cream because it looks right and doesn’t drip.

Lol I bought a pack of super drip just for that reason. There seams to be so much drama surrounding copycat. I’m the type of person that don’t believe anything I hear and only half of what I see. I haven’t bothered starting them yet but when I do it will all be posted on here. That way if it’s half decent og will know and if it’s completely trash og will also know

You Must be talking about Professor P, :slightly_smiling_face: He’s still one of a few that describe each pheno with detail.

I’d say the majority of pictures are stock photos. Saturation and manipulation are the norm.

No surprisingly it was a bank that has a bad reputation. My experience was good but the buzz around the water cooler isn’t.

Man, honest advertising would be so nice. Imagine all those burger joints showing real Pictures of their stuff…

I really like when they show the smiling faces of their employees.

Ha, that’s what I meant to mention before. When I broke my leg I wasn’t able to stand and cook so I was eating frozen meals to make it easy… until I stopped. I would get so pissed because the photo on the package looks nothing like the finished meal.

I was going to make a small photo file of picture/reality of each meal I made. How do they get away with putting a pic of grandmas famous dish on the box when the insides don’t resemble food at all, lol. I think that would be a hilarious project.

Another good one is all those fancy recipes you find on the internet should show you how many dishes you have to clean up afterwards.

On reddit there are certain subs which show this pretty good. It’s actually a shame but as long as that stuff being bought…

Some weeks ago my boss came into office and was angry about how she got ‘ripped’ in the supermarket. A piece of butter just had 230 or 240 grams instead of 250 grams. And when she checked more pieces they were also lighter than advertised. lol I told her, she could do this with any pack in the supermarket. It’s backed by the law. Iirc here it’s legit to put up to 9% more (lol) or less in the package due to mechanic filling and it’s tolerances. She couldn’t believe it…
