Pimping out your bean vault

I love exploring rabbit holes when I’m high, seems even more surreal…

Anyway, I tripped over a moderately pretentious but still semi-functional storage box that’s really cool, check this out!

The rectangular slot could be the instrumentation pod.
You know semi-useful temp/humidity instrumentation & wireless.
Maybe some LED lighting?

It would look really cool if done properly, maybe a red cedar or cypress

This place really is full of numismatists with a passion for horticulture.

I admit it is a handsome box :+1:

You think you could find an ornate backgammon set and retrofit the interior for storage?

Agree we are collectors :innocent:, one more year in OG and it will be too little frech|nullxnull, happened already with my cigar box I use for …

I was thinking If the guts were OK on that box.
Pitch the box and build a sexy new one. Like George has, but even more pimped out.

Here’s some cool but silly priced latches

A nice electronic package is where the magic is at!
What ‘feature set’ would sell?

  • Magnetic bottom storage containers with clear tops, that could be stuck to and arranged anywhere within the lids.

  • Photoresistor or magnetic latch for a “case opened” alert, possibly connected to an airhorn, or maybe email notification. No matter how many labels I put on my special seed container the family never figures it out.

  • A hidden compartment that opens to reveal a working backgammon set, but a crooked backgammon set like in the movie Octopussy. Ideal for both international smuggling and casino gaming.

  • Built in cryogenic coolant storage like the shaving cream can from Jurassic Park.

Ooo that’s a fancy latch.

Features:

  • Temperature
  • Humidity
  • Electric Shock if anyone but me opens it :joy:

I can see a Chinese dragon done in wire inlay. The dragon winds around the box like it is guarding eggs.
Now are you thinking just a little nip or the whole 50KV for the full Mjölnir experience?
:zap:

{edit} high humidity might restrict ‘full deployment’

Mine’s a photo organization box with 16 smaller boxes that I alphabetized. It’s a work in progress. It will happen this winter. I saw this on the interwebs first but looked it up and Walmart has them on the shelf, $15 I think.

I see you have a refined *‘tast’*judging by the contents…

Lefthand has COOL locked down.

If you ever consider a breeding project around those JB beans, PM me, I can help out.

But does it come in serious problem seed addict size? :speak_no_evil:

Mine is just used pill bottles in a ziplock freezer bag. I won’t win any awards for coolness

I’m pretty happy with it.

I put my co-op boxes in the big fat ones.

I snagged one of these off a pallet we bought to flip. Seeds and pollen stored in it, with some nugs as well…

Amazon.com: 48L Cooler Humidor, Electronic Cooler Humidor (300 Capacity) with Spanish Cedar Wood Shelves & Drawer with Hygrometer, Upgraded Version: Home & Kitchen

Seems to have a nice electronic package  And designing and printing new shelves for it to integrate boveda packs and seed vials… Already have bud shelves printed…

LOL Overkill for most, but it was on the pallet, and cigars are kinda like buds

WOW!

What a nice score! AND you are printing shelves for it :+1:

You should post some pics of this!

I will

The stock way a humidor keeps humidity is moisture contained in cedar shelving and a small water basin. I wondered if that would impart a scent or taste into the buds, so decided plastic shelves and bovedas instead…

Also adding LED lighting to be able to see inside better, controllable via a remote. The stock lighting inside is horrible.

one shelf takes nearly 36 hours to print, and it hogs up my only large format printer, so I can only print them every so often (would like to have 5 shelves in total, have 2 printed so far). Stock, the humidor came with one shelf in the style I am printing, and 3 flat ones. The style I am printing has walls, so I can toss a pile of nugs right in, more like a drawer really…

Well for addict sized units, @Cadman has that covered… :+1:
He has these storage cases filled with cryogenic vials, I think the case holds 81 vials IIRC. It’s a crazy number of beans he can store…

I’d be suspicious of the aromatic cedar as well, I’d worry I was making my bud taste like pencils…

It looks like that unit is using a Peltier junction for the cooler/dehumidifier so no moving parts (other than the fan) should be lifetime problem free.

yup! and energy efficient for the most part with the peltier cooling

Will make a thread when its finished  shes still a work in progress

I keep mine in the drawer of the desk I use as my tv stand.
