Practicing Patience.

Hey everyone, this is my first grow diary here!

So, my goal with this grow is to get back into it. It’s not my first time planting, but it’s been almost three years since I last did, so I’m just working on my patience and learning along the way.

About my setup: I’ve got a Vivosun 2x2 Grow Tent (60cm x 60cm x 120cm), and I’m using a KingBrite Chinese LED light, the X55 240W. For exhaust, I’ve got two budget fans that turned out to be 220v, so they’re pretty weak. I’m using six pots with Carolinas Sol, some local substrate, bokashi, and Flowermind( brazilian organic fertilizer).

Now, who’s in the soil?

Honestly, I’m not sure. It’s the end of September, and I planted them at the end of July. When I didn’t see anything happening, I threw in more seeds. The main reason the seeds didn’t germinate was my impatience; it was still a bit chilly. I planted some directly in the soil, but no worries—this grow is really just for learning and hopefully enjoying some buds at the end. Anything I get is a bonus!

Continuing on the “who’s in the soil” topic, I still have no idea. In my last grow, I produced seeds from a Peyote Forum X Prensado.

The Peyote had this awesome Skittles smell—specifically like that little red bag. It tasted just like it smelled when I rolled it up, really nice fruity flavor. For someone who’s only grown pressed stuff before, it was a cool experience.

As for the prenseed, who knows…

From those seeds, I planted all 11.

But wait, the chaos hasn’t even started yet! I got a low-cost flower here in town that came with a bunch of seeds—like around 40—plus a few more that showed up in other flowers as time went on.

Out of those, about 25 went into the soil.

So, who’s who?

I HAVE NO IDEA!

Everything got mixed up, and I can’t tell one from the other, but I suspect that two of these six plants are from my mini batch.

So that’s it, folks! Each plant came along at its own pace, and now that it’s warming up, they’re starting to grow a bit more. I’m running with 120W for now since I’m waiting for my thermo-hygrometer to arrive.

I have a trip planned for November, and I’ll be gone for ten days, returning in December. I’m not exactly sure what I’ll do during that time.

I don’t plan on doing any pruning just yet; I’m not sure if I’ll flip them before or after the trip. I want to let the plants grow naturally; I’ve been studying a lot and believe in taking my time—better yet, letting them take their time.

As for the pots, up left to down right:

  • Run 5: Week 3 of veg
  • Run 1: Week 5 of veg*
  • Run 6: Week 2 of veg
  • Run 2: Week 4 of veg
  • Run 4: Week 4 of veg
  • Run 3: Week 4 of veg

*I noticed that Run 1 showed sex with pistils appearing in the nodes.

Thanks to everyone who read this far, and even to those who didn’t! I plan to document this grow all the way through.

Welcome back to growing! I’ll be watching

That’s how I’ve been approaching my first grow. I would have liked to have both of my plants make it to the end, but at least so far my one remaining is going strong. I’ve definitely learned a LOT.

I hope your grow progresses smoothly!

A good unflustered approach to your first grow @Cannativista, looks like you could have some sativas going by those thin leaves, a great start and all the best.

Hey guys

Thank you all for following along with this journey!

The five plants in the grow are female; the male one’s set up in the kitchen. I’m learning a lot through this process. I saved a bit of pollen from the male plant and pollinated the four that have already flowered. I’ll pollinate the last one(Run #06) as soon as it pistils a bit more. I also took a branch from the male and placed it in water, just to see if it’ll grow—it’s more of an experiment. Honestly, this whole cycle has been one big experiment; I’m buying supplies as I go along and needed to start growing because I find it so therapeutic. I set up a makeshift scrog while I wait for the nets I ordered. I know the plants are small, but that’ll be a lesson for the next cycle. I also rigged up a little watering system since I’ll be away for a bit.

Hey, much appreciated!
So, over here, I just kept the male in the kitchen to isolate him, but there’s this technique—I think Erva Sagrada mentioned it—where you cut the male when it starts flowering and keep it in water in the fridge once it starts releasing pollen. It stays alive long enough for you to collect some. Mine, I just left it in a pot and tried to take a pretty rough clone, but they’re still hanging in there. The pollen’s already gone, but they’re still alive… I pollinated the females with what I collected and saved some in parchment paper inside a ziplock, stored in a thermos at the back of the freezer to keep the temp stable. ZAZAZAZAZA.

The plan is to collect a few seeds and try out a BX1, just for fun and to learn more. I know the plants I have here aren’t the strongest, but until I get higher-quality genetics, I’m just working with what I got.

"Alright, here we go.

The irrigation system I rehearsed over and over before my 10-day trip actually worked—plants were still alive when I got back.

There was a little stress, though.

I won’t lie, I got a bit anxious when I returned and went heavy-handed with the watering—brewed tea, fertilizers, drip lines—just threw it all together.

Even so, they pulled through, both while I was gone and when I got back. ZAZAZAZAZA.

I ended up pulling out the SCROG net and the drip emitters, too.

After a closer look, I found mold on Run#3 and Run#4. On #3, I just clipped the branch with mold, but on #4, I jumped the gun and chopped the whole plant. ZAZAZAZAZA.

PS: It’s worth noting that the pots that were most waterlogged were, of course, #3 and #4.

Other than that, everything’s going fine. I’ve already collected five seeds from #4, pollinated by Run#2. I also spotted seeds on #1, which, by the way, is looking the most promising. Even with me screwing up in all kinds of ways with it, it’s still the one I’m rooting for! ZAZAZAZAZA."

Auto cultivo sim, bigfarma F0D4-SE

Back at it…

Alright, the last plant was harvested back in 2024.

All of them showed some signs of mold—I separated, dried, and now it’s curing time.

Gotta admit, the only one that really hit right after drying was #5. But with some curing time, they’re all smokable now. Special shoutout to #3, #5, and #6 for having the more pleasant flavors—not super distinct or anything, but definitely smoother than #1 and #4.

They all have a nice, smooth buzz, but #3 hits HARD—and I’m really into that!

Except for #6, I’ve already found seeds in all of them.

Since they were all crossed with the male #2, it breaks down like this:

#2.1
#2.3
#2.4
#2.5

This cycle was all about getting back into growing—and hey, I’m growing, so mission accomplished! ZAZAZAZAZA.

I’ve already kicked off the first run of 2025. It’s going a bit better than 2024—being more patient, but not that patient. Most of the seeds I had didn’t even germinate. Some I accidentally killed (yeah, it happens), and others just didn’t pop, maybe because of the cold front or maybe the water here isn’t helping. I need to run a pH test to rule that out. I’ll get on that soon—definitely before the next cycle… I hope!

I’ll be back soon with updates on the current grow. Just waiting for the plants to size up a bit and get more content, then I’ll drop some solid updates here.

And here we go again—this is the second cycle of “Practicing Patience.”

Almost all the seeds are homegrown crosses, except for #E1. The crosses were made between the male #2 and the other plants from the last cycle, resulting in #2.1, #2.3, #2.4, and #2.5. So far, I haven’t found any seeds in #6.

In total, there are eight plants this round:

#E1
#2.1 A
#2.1 C
#2.1 D
#2.1 E
#2.3 A
#2.3 C
#2.3 D

#E1
#2.1 A
#2.1 C
#2.1 D
#2.1 E
#2.3 A
#2.3 C
#2.3 D

Hey man, just found your topic. Amazing run, great for a comeback. I can relate to the anxiety of returning and making mistakes because of it. But it is part of the journey. I have been on and off growing for 10 years and still do that from time to time.
I hope your second run brings more learning and increasing results, will be following this one.

Yo!

Back with some updates.

Like I mentioned before, I’m running this second comeback cycle, starting off with some homegrown crosses of unknown origin. But a few things have happened since then…

I was blessed with some seeds from some solid folks here on OG.

These plants showed male traits while still in veg. Besides the ones in the pic, there are two more I forgot to snap—making it six males so far.

Rubbed the stems and picked up two real stanky ones—cloned those. The rest had a fruity scent, so they got culled.

That’s pretty much how things ended up.

Made a few mistakes here and there, and now we’re at today—flipping them to 12/12.

Plants aren’t exactly where I wanted them to be, but that’s on me. All good, though—this whole thing is about practicing patience!

Yo fam, alright, here we go…

Had a few dudes show up since the last update—but let’s not talk about them. Let’s talk about the ladies, ‘cause that’s where my focus is right now…

First up, the homegrown crosses.

#2.1A

#2.1E

Now check out this lil beauty right here—just getting started in flower. It’s a cross from the homie @bigLblazed

Jungle Fayah

And last but definitely not least…
That one’s the F5 from the homie @Mr.Christmas , coming outta the coop seed run.

Good luck with your grow Cannativista.
Nice to see many OG gems in the same room and all looking good.
One thing I need to mention; I had mold a few times outdoors starting from the dry leaves or dry thin sugar leaves in big buds.
The yellow leaves on soil take humidity from the soil and become a good media for mold . I would personally never let that many dried leaves in my pots. If they are for mulch, I am sure straw or cardboard would work better to keep the soil humid. Just my opinion :v:

Haha “practicing patience”. I need to do that more; for me it’s usually “day 17, this plant is never going to finish…day 18, do you think it’s done? It looks done.”

Don’t be me, lol. Good luck!

Very good my friend @Cannativista . Beautiful grow, beautiful plants.

We will meet again soon in Minas Gerais.

Quick lil update from this side…

The homegrown crosses I made are leaning toward the mom’s terps—kinda mango-ish, super light though.
The Banana OG F5 is stankin’ like overripe fruit—think papaya/passionfruit kinda vibe.
Jungle Fayah just starting to put out that piney-lemon smell when you rub the flower.

Got a few more things poppin’ off too, and as they come along I’ll be dropping 'em into the journal for whoever’s down to follow.

Grateful every damn day for this beautiful community—big love to all y’all!

PS: Like the homie @biglblazed said—ya just know it’s a Brazilian when you catch the ol’ “Havaianas with socks” combo…

Practicing patience is a slow and never-ending trip… Good thing I’m not in a hurry. Okay, maybe I am. But I’m learning.

Not gonna get too wordy, just wanted to drop this quick smoke report for the crew.

Banana OG F5

Chopped at 63 days into 12/12

The smell is wild, overripe fruit vibes. On the trim, it’s got that sticky bubblegum funk, straight-up gooey and resinous. Decent bud density too.
Flavor on the smoke’s pretty muted, just a whisper of that nose.
The high? Super chill, upbeat, not heavy, but definitely leaves you a little spaced.

Got a clone of her waiting to flower once I free up some space. Thinking about letting her run 70 days next time, see if the flavor pops more in the joint.
Still got a few more of her to crack too. Who knows, maybe there’s a pheno in there with that loud tropical punch… Only one way to find out.
