Oleskool830 wanted to know if it is a pain in the ass to press rosin, he has never. Told him in a pm I was making a bit for myslef right now, to take to “Critical Mass” ride tonight. He asked if I could show him how I do it. Grabbed the camera, here it is:
Thought this would be a good one to document…brand new Bud, 7 days on the hang, NEVER pressed it before, but Bud is covered and is potent. You NEVER know what your going to get. Some of my strains return 25 percent, some Bud I have pressed for other’s turned into an oily mess that was not recoverable. All Bud dependent IF you have your Press routine down . I have high hopes for this bud, lol.

So…grab the press, set on my table, lock down with 2 big C clamps. Turn it on, set my temps, from look of THIS Bud, and my smaller 1 ton press, I decided upon 233 degree’s. Go pick a small lil branch thats hanging, for the press. Cut up 1 piece of parchment paper, go to garage and get my “Hammer” . By the time I have trimmed the Bud, and got the paper ready, a plate in the freezer, the press is at temp…time gone by, 8 minutes.

Leaf was removed from the fresh Bud, and all the stem too, placed in center of paper.

Hammer is to "pre smash " the Bud into a “puck” 3 or 4 good wacks on a hard table with the paper folded over does just fine.

Place the paper into the center of my lil 3 inch pucks. Set at 233 degree’s. Handle is pulled gently as I “EASE” into the press, taking 25 seconds from feeling the bud start to compact, until full HARD ASS PRESSURE is applied to the handle. Press is on table, sitting in chair in front of it, knee up against table edge, ALL my weight into pulling on the bar. Hold it for 45 seconds, release.

As I thought it would, Bud pressed Exceptionally well. Nice thick n sticky great return on this small amount

Onto a cold plate, collected with glass rod, then into my pen for tonight’s bike ride…

Total time…15 minutes, everything put away already.

Haha can I do this on a 20 ton shop press with no heat? I dont think the boss would like me taking the torches to his new press

You’ll need heat but just pre heat your metal slabs off the press & use tongs or some shit to put them in the press-frame.

So true! Some if the worst presses I’ve done were actually Afghani/Hindu Kush. For some reason that sandy feeling hash tends to gum up and yields terribly.

One Acapulco gold cross I did was super oily and hard to collect.

If it feels sandy, it probably won’t press well. If it feels greasy, you’re going to have a mess. If it feels sticky like sap, it’s probably good. Just my observations… Nothing scientific.

So what function does Heating the plates do? Is it for decarbing?
If so, can you use pre decarbed bud and room temp plates?

heating the plates gets the the trichrome mass melted and coagulated so when pressure is applied the rosin/resin heads flow. heat is necessary it is 1/2 of the equation. heat+pressure =goo

You saw it loaded into my “pen” as straight rosin, right from the press. I have a pen called “This Thing Rips”…YES, really it’s name, LOL…and it burns it just fine like that.

Kinda funny to watch someone hit it the 1st time that has never had rosin…LMAO!!!

Last night, at Critical Mass(4500 bicycles in group ride through down town from 7-11 pm with POPO escort) 2 of my Buds who came had never tried rosin. I warned them both, but they, you know, are MEN!!! Manly Men!!!

Steve fell backwards, over the short hedge, and onto his stomach on the sidewalk. When he rolled over he was mumbling something, and his eyes were NOT pointed straightforward…LMAO!!! I fell down too…from laughing at him.

The “Doc” (Chiropractor) took a hit off the pen( basically it is a DAB, in this tiny pen format) while riding his bicycle down a huge bridge downtown at 11 pm. in a pack of 2,000 INSANE drunken and stoned nut job’s all seeing who could go the fastest(it is ME…cheat, BBSHD powered ebike does 42MPH, lol) I knew he was gonna crash n burn, was worried about my PEN!!! LOL!!!
How he did not is beyond me, I was next to him, saw his head go down, then popped back up, LOST…LOL.
He is a strong rider and “rode it out”…at like 9 MPH…LMAO!!!

OH NO…For your first time, we will press fresh Goji, and pull out the Dab Rig for ya!!!
My 1st was in Colorado 3 years ago, at one of these weed shows where they had free dabs for “us paid tour people” .

First hit I was tentative and took a tiny lil hit, then realized IT’S JUST POT…the “Dab Girl”,lol, looked at me like you old fart go sit down…I told her “set me up a real hit young lady”

As I blew it out I knew I was not going to make the sofa 12 feet away…was a valiant effort, but made 3 steps, then to my knees, then a “dive” for the couch. My face planted on the seat…LMAO!!! My girlfriend was sitting there, was trying to get to her, it all went dark, lol.

About the time my face hit the seat I came to, had NO CLUE where I was for about 10 seconds! When my wits returned, Looked at the GF, she had tears streaming down her face and laughing so hard…but I COULD NOT HEAR her!!! Looked around the room …35 people staring at me with their jaws open…lol…

So…YOUR 1st time cannot be any worse than mine…we will set you up in the living room ,10 feet from the soft sofa, and give you a big ole snort off the dab rig…see if you make it…I will call Vickie over, she can “judge” your distance.

Not to worry brother, it’s just pot.

Seriously, you will enjoy it…remember to savor it 'cause it only happens the 1st few tines you do it. Read up on it, it is your receptors gettin overloaded, they learn to deal with it QUICKLY!!! I can now take hit after hit after hit…but rarely do, it’s a different kind of high, and NOT my favorite.

You will like a killer fat joint soaked in the Rosin, then rolled in FINE FINE ground hash, then another paper over it to seal it up. THAT is my Dab, lol.

P.S. I am looking forward to you going down a couple of times too…hope your skinny and miss my dog’s
