Rand's First To Flower

Hello everybody! Happy Super Bowl Sunday and post Groundhogs Day!! Excuses to be happy about being alive, especially when we can produce our own medicine and in a sustainable (hopefully) way! Its an awesome thing to be able to OVERGROW this planet with you, ladies and gentlemen, I TRULY believe that! So THANKS to all of you who are becoming a part of my betterment (hopefully)

on to the FLOWERING FIVE and their BEAUTY…

…haven’t done anything but distilled water and HYDROGUARD by Botanicare, IF THEY SHOW SIGNS of needing water… I am such a helicopter gardener, just like I am in parenting my daughter and it’s something, especially with my daughter, I am trying to stop doing. With both, actually, there is a good fallout and that is that I have observed and been able to see cues that the plant gives that it needs water and it starts with the droopy leaves and even my wife whom I can BARELY DRAG in here to look at the plants,, even she notices those more obvious cues, like needing to be watered. I love how the plants almost speak to you…:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

As you can see, I extended the nylon screen across the top of the canopy and actually lowered the lights both to measure 6 inches above the net. As the plants grow above and I tie them to the screen, I may have to adjust the height of the lamps again, but until I see scorching or something, I will just continue to monitor the sitch!

Here’s a few shots of the next generation of Rand’s Mystical Marijuana Melee, the cuts from the yellow number 1 mom and the newest ROOTED cut, the first to root from number 4, and all the 4 rooted cuts are now up potted except the last and I will get to that in a second…

The plant above is actually really looking better since the up potting and is the only one that I haven’t actually seen the roots with my eyeballs but assume cuz of the way the new growth is coming in and when it came in and just that stuff, though, I COULD be wrong…we will see

The plant below is the newest rooted cut and the only rooted cut from number 4, the squat looking indica leaning mom. Its gonna be cool to see the difference. I am giving all these new generation the base nutrients I got from watching @Mr.Sparkle and his FANTASTIC grows, its the Botanicare CNS17 nutes. I haven’t started any of that yet but the two more vigorous clones the ones in the 2nd two pictures will prolly be the first to get it!
Fingers crossed!

and the weird one…this is as old as the vigorous rooted cuts at the top and even showed roots that my eyeballs saw, but it looks like its flowering…? It got the trichomes before my flowering five did…
a mystery…any guesses?

flowers? is it confused and even though it gets the same 22 plus hours of light that the other cuts get, its in sex mode?

oh and the up pots all had a base mix of 1/4 Kings Mix 1/4 Perlite 1/4 EWC and 1/4 CocoGRO with an additional top layer of EWC and on top an inch of CocoGRO…

Thanks for reading all and GO RAMS!

You, of course, know yourself and I TOTALLY insert foot…my mouth…ahhhhh…my bad. and I am getting like MAD deja vu…it was @Cobra50 and I found the link when I did a search for cns17 and like I said…MY BAD…:scream:

since you WERE here, what do you think of that plant in the last pic? I already gave it to me and my daughters outdoor plant growing “thing” so its in a windowsill and she and I will make sure it is fed and up potted, if need be…?

think it will grow up to be Jack’s beanstalk?

sorry im slow, are those two different things or a line of a manufacturer?

Maxi series by general hydroponics which is maxigro and maxibloom, and megacrop which is by greenleaf nutrients and is just a one part, both serve the same base nutrients functions and work well for all you really need, just have to vary your concentrations for your application.

As for that last plant, yep those are the early stage calyxes that form … but you gone and chopped off all the nodes “apical and lateral bud sites” that would support new plant and bud growth.

So you literally now just have a plant composed of those two leaves and 3 calyx’s. and thats all its ever gonna be…

Its like when i rooted and end of a tomato leaf once…

Toss it and move on is my suggestion.

I see from your posting you are using the CocoGro, Hydroguard and CNS17 nutes. I have had awesome luck with them. I’ll be interested in your opinion after you have grown out some plants completely. They definitely look great now.

yeah, i cannot recall how I chopped it, but it looks like I did more than I think I did. It just NEVER grew another leaf as those two are the ones that were on the cut when I cut it. the only new growth is the bulbous looking things and thats exactly what I thought…I effed this cut up and its a lost cause…tho, my daughter won’t let me kill it and likes to put a “splash of water on it from time to time” to quote her…it gets the business when me and her do the rest of the houseplants. I LOVE my new hobby and tho I don’t share with her the cannabis aspect of it, only all of YOU get that, I DO spread my new love of gardening to other things and so any plant within a mile radius is getting the third degree by me even if I have no idea what exactly im mostly looking at…

Thanks much! I actually stopped using the CNS17 nutes for this grow as I felt with the burnt tips that I kept seeing as a problem were from excess nutes, but this next generation of cuts are gonna get ONLY CNS17 nutes just to see how they do since I already got them! I will be sure to post the sitch as it happens!

Hello and it looks like its ONLY been 10 days since the last update, so I guess its not as DIRE as I was thinking…like the whole world was gonna stop or something…

yeah, I bet…

so here is the nitty gritty…day 28 of flower and actually, I took down the screen because the plants weren’t getting tall enough for me to comfortably LST them and it just seemed to be flattening out some of the colas hairs…
anyway

thats number 4 and she is actually a mommy! Yes! She has 3 kids of different statures and because she seems to be expressing more of this strains “daddy” characteristics, which as this is Black Widow from Robert Bergman (aka White Widow from Shantibaba, as is my understanding at least) this plants mother, somewhere back there at least, is a long legged long flowering PURE sativa from Brazil, SHOUT OUT TO ANY OF YOU FROM THERE, and the daddy is this hybrid South Indian Indica, and this plant has shown what I believe to be expressions of this dad and because of the 5 seeds I bought she was the only one to show this…which is a squat size and broader leaf than the rest, I wanted to KEEP THOSE GENETICS!

Of course I do have to say that since this is “Rand’s First To Flower”, I kinda effed up in the beginning, and gave too much of this and too much of that and only after 2 flushes and some adjustments on my part AND A WHOLE LOTTA PATIENCE FROM THESE AWESOME PLANTS I GET TO GROW, was I able to get some stabilization from them and was eventually confident, as much as a noob like me could, that they would be fine to start flowering, but the “expressions” I see could be my mistakes… and here we are at day 28, thats the end of week 4 and HOPEFULLY the halfway point of this flower!

Heres the rest of the girls in their glory! thanks for reading and I hope EVERYONE has an awesome weekend!

Those lil uns up front are the cuts/kids, Ill shoot some more pix of them next time…I got the wife talking about pizza and me getting it so I better get!

I couldn’t help but add a few more pix…
what can I say? I am a glutton for punishment!

Morning all! Took some shots of the resin development that is happening, now that we are in the 5th week of flower. The levels of resin glands visible to my eye or the cellphone camera I use to take pictures with vary from plant to plant which is to be expected. I DID pop #1 and #2 together and then waited to make sure I didn’t botch it up to pop the last three of the five pack I got from BERGMAN SEEDS. The duration between germination dates was about two weeks and even though I put all in to flower at the same time, I believe to my inexperienced mind that there should be some level of maturity difference from the first two to the last three. Even though it was a “trial and error” vegetation phase for them, and so each plant was NOT given the exact same things at the same times. I took a grow journal that I try to keep as detailed as possible on both the statistical and observational data gathering. But again, its a work in progress. I will say that as I have “figured” things out I have tried to become more systematic and routine with the plants and its actually one of the more pleasing things for me, maybe due to the sorta mind I have, that I can be very routine with the plants and they like it. IT EASES THEM, IT SEEMS, AND IT EASES ME!

YOU GOTTA LOVE WHEN THINGS COME TOGETHER LIKE THAT…

…ALMOST AS IF IT WAS MEANT TO BE!

so here is the thing most of us want to get to
THE RESIN SHOTS!

The above shot is of #2 and you can see the resin glands forming. I am heading out to Fry’s to get a cheap magnifying glass or whatnot, I read that I will want at least 25x magnification so thats what I am looking for…

the next girl is #5 and she is the smallest and was also, visibly, the most affected by my blundering in the beginning and she has these downward canoeing leaf thing that is happening on all the leaves! Despite this and her short stature, I love her and take care of her just like I would any other of my plants. She was part of the last three to germinate so as I stated above you can see the level of resin glands visible is markedly less.

Ok, well, maybe the picture doesnt show it very well, BUT TAKE MY WORD FOR IT!

Those were somebody’s words they last heard before the curtain call I bet so if some of you don’t take my word for it, I dont blame you one bit…

enjoy the rest of you weekend, EVERYBODY
and thanks again for reading and letting me stroke my ego!

Hey everybody! Well, I guess it hasn’t been as long as I thought since the last update but I got some more bud porn for you all! Well, that would be my very pathetic and tame version of porn!

The ladies are doing fine! I have been continuing the alternating of Big Bloom to them one week and then supplemental waterings as they need it but at 250 ml per plant, they aren’t getting too much water as I have learned the semi-hard way that its best to err on the “less water is better” method. They ARE thirsty girls though, and they should be under the ten hours and forty minutes of light and they get now thirteen hours and twenty minutes of dark in the Secret Jardin DR90 grow tent they live their lives in! I recently switched from closer to a 12/12 schedule and I also, (well as a byproduct of having to move the one lamp and my work schedule) have been giving these pretty girls a simulated dusk as when I move the KingsLED Plus 1200 from the tent to the closet so it can light my clones, the only light going for about an hour and a half is the Solsheet X. IDK if there’s any science behind that but it makes me feel slightly better about having to switch the lamp every day TWICE a day!

So, on to the bud porn I promised and what better form then the trike shot?

I’ve GOT RESIN! :astonished:

same cola a little further back…

…just to see the sparkle the leaves are giving off! Gotta love it! I SURE DO!

The picture above is of #1 and she is shedding and I am pruning off more of the yellow leaves but her bud development is still looking better than all the other plants and she is now, as you can see in the picture, filling in nicely!

…they ALL are filling in nicely, really!

Even #5, who was BADLY nutrient burned and mutated by my foolishness, is filling in nice. I got to give it to that girl, she really has shown me the power of perseverance! She is the lady below

Thanks, EVERYONE, who has followed along and “liked” my posts and encouraged me and fed me knowledge, which if you have read much of my postings you would know by now is near and dear to me, I just want to say to you folks…

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

looking back on this last post I realized that the one shot of the yellow plant was not very good and she sure looks in trouble. I don’t think she is and if she wasn’t in the back of the tent and right under the light, I could get a better picture of her. I will try to do this in the next couple days and will make it the goal for my next post to get better shots of her for the three of you reading this…NO, I’m JOKING…
