They’re a pretty chronic occurrence for me since going 2 years undiagnosed with type 1 diabetes degraded my dental enamel completely. :frowning:

Sorry to hear that mate, I hope things get better for you.

I still use that gel,as it stops your gums receding (especially as I ain’t getting any younger)

I disagree, I use both 600mg Ibuprofen & 500 mg Extra Strength Tylenol and they work great when used together…better than Norco…I’m suppose to get a root canal on 5.23.22…I went to University of Chicago Scool of Dentistry about 1 month ago but they couldn’t do it then because they were all booked up…

Also if you have a toothaches and headaches at the same time it’s time to see a dentist folks…

You might want to check out Trigeminal Neuralgia before getting the rout canal. If its trigeminal, rout canal or removing teeth will not make any difference to the pain. The wife gets it occasionally, her dentist said its often miss diagnosed.

I very seriously doubt it…not when its infected in the roots…once your roots are infected you’re gonna need a root canal or your tooth will die and the pain will go away but the infection will start to spread…

Not sure if anyone mentioned it yet but there is a plant called Acmella oleracea AKA Toothache plant.
You chew it and supposedly it will numb your mouth. It has many other benefits and uses as well.
Might be worth growing some if you have pains or inflammation. Its also a known antiseptic, antiviral, and antibacterial It looks cool as well :sunglasses:

edit: this video is where I discovered it, he explains a bit more https://youtu.be/F0FcSIpiKm0?t=498

Good to know…but for me when I get a toothache its because something else is going on and using that plant or any other pain pills are just a band aid…people need to go to a dentist, I go to the dentist 2 times a year just for cleanings…the dentist will get to the root of the problem, literally.

In Portugal, maybe europe there is one painkiller called Movalis 15mg check if there isn’t a similar, it is very good, very strong and here I need my doctor to prescribe it.

Agreed. Seriously. If it becomes septic and spreads, your brain is right there. -Just saying. Sell something if it’s money. If it’s convenience, pull back on that and tell the nurse it’s urgent and get it did.

Sepsis is the body’s extreme response to an infection . It is a life-threatening medical emergency. Sepsis happens when an infection you already have triggers a chain reaction throughout your body

I had a badly infected front tooth a few years back with swelling and pain almost up to my left eye. Big abscess just above the tooth line like a marble cut in half and glued on there. Hard as a rock.

I’ve been making my own colloidal silver for years and just used a Tbsp and held it in there swishing it around slowly for 5 min, spit and poked that abscess with a sterilized pin. Folded over bits of paper towel to push the puss out of it. Did the CS thing again then smoked two bowls and went to bed.

When I woke up it felt a lot better with the swelling almost gone under my eye. Did the CS thing again and again later in the day then again before bed. Next day nothing. Was totally gone and hasn’t ever come back. Every now and then might get a sore spot from chowing down and something gouging between the teeth drawing blood so do the CS thing right away to prevent any problems and been fine. Do see the dentist fairly regularly and at 67 still have 3/4 of my teeth but receding gums and all the little cavities to get fixed. Have to see if my Blue Cross handles dentures tho I hate the idea. Got upper and lower bridges a few years back but could not get used to them and eventually the teeth shifted enough to make it impossible to get them in. Glad I didn’t pay for them!

Thought the creator was supposed to be perfect. As an engineer she/he/it sure built a lot of design flaws into their creations!

I’d like to share something that has helped me on more than one occasion. I’ve got horrible teeth, my own fault, but it causes me to have 1-2 infections per year. During the lockdowns, I’ve been unable to get in as a new patient anywhere, so I’ve learned to rely on TeleDoc for certain things, infected teeth being one of those things.

They won’t, as far as I know, do prescriptions for pain medication. Maybe some ibuprofen or another anti-inflammatory, but they won’t do anything heavy duty. But they will do a prescription for an antibiotic, which is what will ultimately provide the most relief until you can get the actual issue causing the infection fixed. For me, if I make the call the very first day before the infection starts raging, I’m able to self medicate with cannabis until the penicillin starts working 2-3 days after starting, and it’s usually tolerable. It does get bad at night, but that comes with the territory.

I know it’s not a fast fix, and if you aren’t experienced with tooth infections and know what they feel like before they get bad, this isn’t something that’s gonna help you sleep at night. But if you find yourself in a situation where you just can’t get in someplace to be seen in person, TeleDoc is a safe bet.

Take a wad of tobacco from a ciggarette or similar. Rinse it off in the sink and make a ball. Stick that in the hole and it will be numb within a few min.

Home remedies are usually a bandaid at best with temporary relief.
Tooth infections are much worse than most people realize.
I had a tooth infection that went to my mitral valve which hospitalized me for two weeks and almost killed me.
Go see a dentist PRONTO ………
