Roxbury, AKA, Roxbury Cookies.

Here she is (in the video) at just about 9 weeks. This is a strain that’s currently in clone-only form, though the original breeder is probably going to pop the last of his seed stock soon. It’s a cross of Cataract Kush (F) x GSC (M).

Info I got from the breeder is as follows: The Cataract Kush mom was a very unique and funky pheno of Cataract that had a very uncommon bud structure. He searched through several packs of Cataract looking for a similar pheno, but never found one like this one (this was years later after losing his keeper pheno). The GSC dad was a bagseed found in one of the very early batches of GSC, before it became the hype strain it is today. Popped the seed and it happened to be male, so he hit it to his keeper Cataract. He grew out some of these progeny, a few dozen seeds over the years, and eventually stumbled across the pheno pictured above. He named it “Roxbury” (one of the neighborhoods in Boston) after the place it was created/discovered (I’m also from there). Anyway, it’s not by any means widely distributed, but with the advent of legalization, it’s circulated through a few circles in Mass, and picked up the name “Roxbury Cookies” as opposed to just Roxbury, which I guess is a shout to the GSC in the cross (and everybody likes Cookies I guess, lol). I was lucky enough to get a cut from the man himself, and she’s definitely a keeper.

I’ve run her twice now, once to outcross against X18, and once seedless, as pictured above (the video is one of the two original cuts I received from the breeder). In the video she’s about 9 weeks and is ready to come down (I’ll do that at some point this week). She’s been in Sohum soil her whole life and only given water. So what you’re seeing is how she grows with minimal / no care, which is what I wanted to see on this run.

She’s a very vigorous vegger and easy rooter. She’ll eat pretty much anything you throw at her, and as I’m seeing on the new mom I’ve started, she’s a heavy consumer; new mom is not in Sohum, which is heavily amended, and she’s begging for more nitrogen. She takes VERY well to training, which is A+++++ in my book, I love to LST and I love when a plant needs very little coaxing to offshoot.

One thing I absolutely love about her is she’s an extremely early froster. By week 2 of 12/12 you’re already like WTF? Powdered donuts, and it just keeps caking on. The stickiness is there to match, she’s like touching glue from an early age.

Best way to describe her smell is “kush funk”, which is a term I hate, but it’s an apt description. It’s like smelling an OG with no limonene, but instead you get a whiff of super sweet in the background, almost like caramel or some kind of sweet cream. Little fruity to her too. So a weird kush funk with a “something else” to it that’s hard to pinpoint. That same smell carries over to flavor. She’s earthy and very lung expanding, with a sugary exhale that’s kinda unexpected but surprisingly tasty.

Just wanted to show her some love. She’s one of the moms I’ll be keeping around for the long haul and working against my male stock to see what they produce. I’ll post up harvest pics and bud porn once they’re done

Yup. Much to be desired :joy:. But that can be mitigated with bigger pots and longer veg.

Thanks for this description. Did you try any super cropping? What extra amount of time did they get in veg?

No super cropping, I just do extreme LST with 6 inch garden staples, and a heavy lollipop / defol to top two nodes on each branch. They’re mostly stripped bare by the time they 12/12 and I generally end up with only fat colas and upper nugs, I try to minimize the popcorn and larf as much as possible.

This girl is a vigorous vegger and eater. But one thing she isn’t is a high yielder (like a lot of crosses w/ GSC in it). So I typically go for a longer veg with her…

That’s good info moving forward with these. So far the six Roxbury I’ve got are being stubborn to pop. I really hope they start showing something today. She’s sexy!
