Second opinion please. Ph problem?, Calcium/magnesium?

Need some help with a second opinion please. Never grown autos, have GG4, Glue Goo, and Icecream cake. They are 7 weeks from soaking seeds and about 3 after initial stretch and flower mode.

This is primarily affecting the GG4 and progressing quickly. Just started seeing spots on the ICC.

Growing in a soil mix, dry ammendments, using rain water in fabric pots on risers with a wicks. Let them go a bit dry, cleaned the saucers then hit them with a watering, in at 6.5 ph to slight runoff. Ph out is tetering at 7.1-7.2. Ppm for runoff is @1100.

This GG4 is worst case then what’s started on one of the ICC.

I do agree with @Naptown916 on ph
But for me 5.5 is too low 6.2 is my plants sweet spot

Ppm s may be too hi for gg4 I like to be around 700 to 800 during this stage

Also add Epson salts to you feed regiment
It will help with magnesium with out adding nitrogen avoid nitrogen during flowering stage

If it continues you may want to flush
If you do after flush it’s important to use a compost tea to replace all the good things back in the soil

@George you around brother what do you think

What I see is a Potassium deficiency:

and these stains product of pH fluctuations:

Cfaptura

As Potassium is available in a wide pH range and watching those burnt tips could be that there is a nutrient burnt or lockout, soil could be too hot, 1100 ppm may be too high for an auto…

I would just give them a flush …

Edit: @Papalag, my friend, I’m always around , I believe the low pH is just to correct the high one, I wouldn’t add anything right now, she looks overfed … entripao|nullxnull

Elaborate please.

And include a photo from the side, showing total plant + pot.

The hydro and synthetic fertilizer way of thinking and diagnosing does not apply to organic living soil.

My runoff is around 2500 usually with Dr Earth dry amendments. I use a very strong mix at 2 tbls per gallon and some strains will get mild tip burn. If I see issues it’s usually because the ph of runoff is over 7. It doesn’t seem to function as well as a true living soil as far as buffering ph, at least in the Roots Organic soil I use.

Thank you all for your input. Here’s my starting mix from my log:

Medium: Homemade mix:
20% used but heavily flushed and sanitized (boiling water flush)ffhf soil, with 30% perlite already.
20% well composted manure
20% coco coir -hydrated with bush doctor cal mag at 1/2 strength
10% worm castings w/ kelp and rock dust
30% perlite
Amended with Dolomite lime, Dr earth pure gold 2-2-2, and Dr Earth 4-6-3 each at 1/3 strength. Epsom salts at 1/2 the rate of the lime. Also added a couple cups of activated charcoal to the mix and ff microbe brew at full strength.
Watered until just moist and let it “cook” for about a month

I may have goofed @ week 2 of flower 9 days ago and top dressed With Roots Organic Terp Tea Bloom even at 1/2 recommended rate, treating these like photos.

Pics individually and by pairs. I have 2 each @Rogue

GG4

ICECREAM CAKE. No real issues apparent on the runt except for being slow.

GLUE GOO seem to be grooving.

Dang! They are surprisingly big and in great health, considering the size of the pots, I don’t see anything wrong here, losing a few leaves during flower is to be expected sometimes, especially the lower ones, plants commonly let go of a few of them, I consider it “self-fertilizing”. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Keep doing what you’re doing, it seems to work real well.

If you wanna be cheaper and lazier, this is how I do it:

Been growing in the same pot and soil for over a year and a half now, works fine.

Thank you. Ive not checked the ph up until I noticed the issues. The rain water did test at just over 7 and I used without adjustment. I ran out and used distilled 1 day while waiting for rain. It’s hard to come by in the desert. Likely part of the ph fluctuation. I did manage to filter about 30 gallons but this batch has a red tinge to it still. Concerned with using it.

Love the idea of the pot/tube in pot. And I use food scraps/compost in my outdoor food garden with good results. I’ve got roots shooting out all over the bottom of these.

Most houses water connections in the wall are all from the same supply line they just T off of the supply line. Not sure how that would have any difference in water quality(ec, ppm, tds). How did you come up with this?

City water pressure is about 20psi there is no difference in pressure if you use a smaller diameter tube/pipe, the water will flow at different gph rates but water quality wont change. I live in a place that 60yrs old there is no difference in water quality. I’ve done plenty plumbing to know there is no difference.
Maybe others can test theirs and share results.

I don’t need to be right I don’t want wrong information spread! Let’s have people test and share results, if they will. I tested mine 147 out of both, no difference. Didn’t check a different line in another bathroom or kitchen. Same bathroom, sink and tub/shower.

Ok so get your tap water wherever you like. Sorry to the OP I’ll keep my thoughts to myself. @Slammedsonoma420 will get you figured out

Previously when I checked my water supply in the house I tended to get @ 40-50 higher ppm from the kitchen than the outdoor spigot closer to the main.Guessing mineral build up in house pipes, maybe lower if I really let it run for a bit. Still from the lower end in the spigot mine reads over 350 ppm. The ph is around 8.5. One of the reasons I’ve used distilled (can get costly) in the past and rain this time. Think I may buy one of the Boogie Blue inline hose filters, test and go from there in terms of next cycle water source.

We’re getting more rain today. Hopefully I can get another 30gal or so a bit clearer.

After a flush I’ve got some more overall yellowing on the Gorilla Glue and a little on one of the Ice Cream Cakes with some tip burn/ curl. Thinking maybe the roots were staying too wet with the wick I checked and they are growing down into the saucers sitting in still water. Wondering if I should;
A. Grab some 5 gal pots with a several inches of soil and sit these in, kinda like what Rogue has going on.
B. I have some 6" flat air stones and pump from previous DWC runs, maybe place one in each saucer.
C.Ditch the wicks, trim the roots and top water DTW moving forward.

Thoughts?

Group Shot for comparison to the Glue Goo and other ICC.

I upgraded my 1/2” city water lines to 1” and I didn’t take any measurements but the pressure out of the faucet was definitely higher.

I agree, no difference in quality.

Have you used the fabric pots with wicks before?

Ever check the reservoir(saucer) ph after a couple days?

Was that the first time you cleaned out the saucers?

I’ve used fabric pots but not the wicks. Ph was sitting at 7.2 previously after a topwater. I adjusted ph going in the top and, flushed with @ 1 1/2 gallons drained the saucer, and added plain fresh water @6.5 in the saucers. Thinking maybe the top dress was too hot and autos being sensitive. Should have not top watered, kinda let the wick do its thing. Now not sure.

Also, as far as the saucers and water go I do try to let the plants drink up before refilling. Maybe the topwatering kept everything too moist for a couple days. Maybe i didnt flush enough. There are a lot of springtails in there when I checked last. I know generally that’s a good sign of soil health just don’t know if this is overwatering or delayed reaction to the change or ph in the medium is still off.

My gut is its staying too wet and something causing P lockout.
