Seed Banks - Who can we trust?

this site doesn’t look good. They have bodhi lines that haven’t been available since around 2012 listed as in stock.

The site says they opened in 2017. most of these lines were already long gone in 2017. These lines have been gone for years. they are just a random list of the only bodhi strains with written descriptions and photos.

Bodhi used to write descriptions for his strains, but that was years ago. It looks like they just used all the old descriptions and photos. There is no way they could have lines like blue tara, dank sinatra, and dream beaver etc.

Anyone buy from Khalifa Genetics on Strainly? Don’t have much experience on strainly so figured I’d check here first.

I’ve ordered from them. They ask for cash in mail with tracked envelope for their state side representative to ship back the seeds. You can trust them.

Thanks buddy. Will give it a shot.

Here is one nobody knows about-- have ordered from him many times - very good genetics

That site does not look good at all. Riddled with spelling errors. No breeders listed for any of the seeds they offer, or any of the genetics they claim to breed with. Many lines that are clone only offered in seed form with no explanation of the true genetics. They straight up admit that they mixed seeds from a bunch of different strains together and sold them anyway.

Here is some of the weird shit in their about us “our story” page:

The seeds we produce are not your cheep seeds they normally sell for ÂŁ20.00 each.
We are constantly working on new strains but it takes time so please be patent for the next strains, we are working on 12 new strains at the moment and will be on sale hopefully by spring
We should of had 10 strains for sale but 5 strains got put into one storage bag by mistake, So it’s pot look on them but all very good strains

Their strain descriptions are totally implausible.

To create this Girl Scout Cookie we got two different G.S.C strains both 28.7% THC, One was very sweet in taste and the other plant had amazing crystals, mixing the two strains together creating a very crystalised plant with a beautiful sweet taste, the best of both worlds. so these seeds are first generation seeds

this makes no sense at all.

  1. the name is girl scout cookies, not cookie.
  2. they say they bred 2 gsc strains, which makes no sense because there is only one gsc strain and it’s a clone only. Do they mean hybrids? if so, why didn’t they specify the actual genetics?
  3. they claim 2 different strains both had exactly 28.7% thc content. This makes no sense. You would be unlikely to get the same result twice even if you tested 2 buds from the same plant.
  4. they say they bred an existing strain, but also that this is a “first generation” strain as in an f1. If what they say is true, it couldn’t be an f1 because they claim the genetics contain only girl scout cookies.

This meaningless ad copy might sound nice, but as soon as you break it down and think about it logically, it makes no sense at all.

Here’s another strain listing that makes no fucking sense:
https://trumpseeds.com/products/candy-land-x-blue-dream-auto-flowers-regulars

candy land was made by Ken Estes grandaddy purple genetics around 2013 and hasn’t been available for years. Blue dream is a clone only photoperiod strain, not an auto or a regular seed line with males. They claim this is an f1 regular hybrid of these two strains, and that it is an autoflower.

So let’s be generous and assume they have ken estes candyland and that it’s genuine.

If you crossed a regular photoperiod strain to an autoflower strain as an f1, the offspring would not be autoflowers. The result would be a mix of photoperiod phenos and what people now call “fast photoperiod” phenos which is what you get when a strain expresses some ruderalis traits but doesn’t autoflower.

So if they are telling the truth about the genetics, this is not an autoflower. And if it is an autoflower, that means they are lying about the genetics.

edit- I didn’t even notice this part:

REGULARS* USUALLY 78% FEMALE 22%MALES

what the fuck… regular seeds have a 50/50 male female ratio, it’s been proven again and again. With a large enough sample group, the ratio is always 50/50. The only thing that could throw this off is hermaphrodite genetics, which skews the ratio towards hermaphrodite females.
So again, either they are lying, or they suck at plant breeding.

I could pick apart every single strain they offer and tell you why it’s bogus.

it’s easier just to say,
this site is a scam

Thanks for your very important information !!! it all makes sense. understand that autos’ have to go to f-4 to be stable ? ran china Yenem x auto many. many unstable seeds

Thanks for kindly thinking of me, but that is precisely the type of “seedbank” that I would avoid. It appears that provenance and lineage are not provided, and I’m not interested in autos or fems.
I have still been trying to find a US bank which carries Mandala seeds, to no avail.
However, I can now buy directly from Mandala, although I would prefer to find a US bank from which I can buy Mandala seeds.

Oh well.

Definitely a scam, if you look on the Wayback Machine, nothing has changed on that site since 2017 when it was created, same about us talking about a mixed bag of seeds. Total bull :ox:

OK Thanks for that Heads-up. I do appreciate it. And I believe my joining OG was more aligned with Finding the true spectacular genetics, not gimmicks.
The people and actions on this OG domain are amazing.

what about these site’s _ Happy Bird Seeds.com and Swanelys ? they are making hybrids strains- got one “runtz x Thai” couldn’t help myself - interesting strain. Please words of wisdom ? haven’t run any gene’s yet somehow this site is related to CannaRelief.com

Cannarelief was flagged for malware and was blocked when I tried to visit the site, so that’s probably a no.

Happy bird seeds site is a little weird, but nothing that blatantly indicates it is a scam. My advice would be to proceed with caution if you buy from them, and choose lines carefully.

It’s strange that they don’t list the genetics on the sale pages, and have all of their hybrids listed on one long poorly formatted web page, requiring the user to cross reference based on the name of the lines for sale on their souvenir page.

They credit the breeders work which is a good sign. I see some well regarded breeders like Rare Dankness being used in these hybrids.

Glancing at the list, a lot of their autoflower genetics and other lines come from newguy420 seeds aka mark from strainly. I would avoid anything in this catalog with genetics from newguy420. He sells fake / deliberately mislabeled seeds.

He sells a lot of seeds labeled as clone only lines, with no explanation of the real genetics. He is basically just making s1’s of random s1 hybrids that he bought online, and didn’t keep track of his sourcing or the actual genetics of the lines.
Those are all bogus lines.

His autoflowers are also bogus, they are mostly f1 hybrids of autos and regular photoperiod strains. An f1 hybrid of a photo and an auto will not carry the autoflower trait. It will yield a mix of photoperiod phenos, and what people now call “fast photoperiod” genetics, which means a plant that carries ruderalis traits but does not autoflower. Basically, you get none of the benefits of an auto, but the potency and growth traits are still watered down with industrial hemp genetics.

They also credit a lot of the genetics they use as being made by themselves happy bird seeds, which is vague at best. No way to tell where they sourced those genetics, or what they are.

I can’t find anything online about Swanely’s, are you sure that is the correct spelling?

@hawkman
In general, I recommend great lakes genetics for US based breeders.
And I recommend the vault for euro and international breeders.

It’s true, I can’t fault the vault. lol.
I’m not a fan of every brand or breeder they carry, but they are a very reliable seed bank.

The only caveats are that their prices are not always competitive, and a few breeders like humboldt seed organization are known for selling bogus / deliberately mislabeled genetics.

HSO is notorious for selling fake versions of well known bay area strains, capitalizing on the name recognition of strains like blue dream and cookies, but selling something completely different.
