Seed Junky Genetics - Wedding Cake Grow Show - Will it Herm?

I have no experience or opinion of any product that controls hermies, but I was making seeds for friends with these plants, and nothing would change the DNA. In other words, even if I could apply a product to stop the hermies from popping up, I would still pass the trait through the seeds. No bueno!

The florel will stop the hermies but yes like you said, its just a visual bandaid and does nothing to the DNA. So any seeds made with those plants will definitely just be passing on the hermie traits. I wouldn’t personally use anything on my plants and if there is a single ball anywhere on the plant they get chopped no questions asked, but it’s an option :upside_down_face:

I’ve seen some speculation on what’s actually in it, it’s some sort of ethylene blocker from I’ve gathered.

Ain’t gonna use it for breeding, but this runs all money.

Right, its hard to tell.

It’s just, the only ingredients listed on the bottle tho say
“Derived from Monopotassium Phosphate” and I don’t see how that’s going to do anything to the ethylene content in the plant. :man_shrugging:

At best, they’re relying on the extra potassium as a stress blocker…

Florel on the other hand, is an ethylene enhancer and will stop male flowers from showing, may even increase your flower weight, idk.

Even if Florel stops hermies, I’m not sure it’s a good option. It’s an organophosphate-based PGR, which I think are generally banned from use on dispensary crops; and if there’s any residue left over on the buds, combusting it once it’s dried out will result in toxic fumes, according to the SDS sheets of other Ethephon-based products. Depends just how much you care about the health of your customers, I suppose - poisoned customers probably won’t be return customers though, so I’d stay away from it.

yeah very good point there, I wouldn’t personally use it either. If the plant NEEDS something sprayed on it to not herm, it goes in the trash :joy:

Im still new still to all the breeder drama and hype so may i ask why this breeder sells F4 or F2000 bx for 250 for 10 regs when i thought wedding cake is clone only and sells female cuts for 25 bux in socal for a clone?

@GCBudz i bet youre fine, seed junky has a great reputation for solid genetics, dont let a few herms dampen your fun.

theyre different plants. SJG has a strain they call wedding cake. its well regarded but not “the wedding cake” people think of. There is a clone only version of Triangle Kush x Animal Mints bred by Jbeezy (of cookies fam) that is probably what you think of when you think WC. completely different lineage than the SJG strain. wouldnt say its the “best” cut out there but its got an exceptional flavor so people keep it going after all these years. i have that cut, its slow vegger but produces phenomenal buds.

if youre in socal, the jbeezy wedding cake cut is everywhere. pcg sells it at dispensaries for ~$25 but you do have to wait awhile until they come around (selection at dispensaries is always a crap shoot). i dont trade cuts but im guessing if you ask around it should be easy to procure. id probably steer you toward something more modern if youre really interested in cookies gear like gushmints or slurty3. those are much more aggressive growers.

yeah it was just a few $500 packs, not a single stable plant in there, but sure :joy:

Very good to know on everything else tho!

My plant is not a Wedding Cake cut… I was gifted a Cap’s Junky.

Is the issue of herm’s widespread throughout his gear or isolated to a particular strain or two?

I was having my morning coffee a d doobie when I posted earlier, I should have mentioned the strain then… oops. Sorry if I confused ya…

I’ll pull the plant at lights on and inspect it anyway.

Informative thanks.
Actually i have 2 fire TK crosses bith very vigorous.
Bubba diogonal and “juicy gushers” from atrium. The latter won awards i found out 30% from outdoors… sometimes i get lucky.
The smells on both are amazing but it seems i have a bias towards TK since one my all time fave was LVTK from seed another fire breeder Cannaventure whom seeds are 65 for fems in sale…my point is i cant justify 250 for 10 regs but that’s my experience.

They’re one and the same; Seed Junky is Jbeezy’s project, and they just started working with Cookie Fam once they gained some notoriety.
