Yo Z! I’m a (city) desert dweller too! Maricopa county
Ah snap! Feels good to not be prohibition land no mo here! I’m 5 min from the river, if any of y’all growmies out my way I got the seadoos and the smoke.
I"m south - Tucson. It’s a beautiful day.
I have been lurking, and following along…
Good job on this run!!!
The new pistils could be from feeding P (if you are feeding), my seeded Freakshow did that… no new growth for weeks and weeks, just seeds ripening for weeks, then suddenly a wave of new growth. I am confident it is in response to a feeding of 1/2 veg and 1/2 bloom nutes I gave them (to try and help them have enough nutes to finish all the tons of seeds). They are indoors with no change in lighting (12/12).
In regards to re-vegging. I think you have plenty of time. Last year a bunch of stuff I put out in late April (hoping to veg over summer to have GIANTS in the fall) still started budding pretty much as soon as they went out. And the budding did not stall until the very end of May (I ended up bubblehashing them all). I am in AZ too btw. So my thought are to let it ride until you see the seeds are ready.
@repins12 has suggested to others to shade them.
A tarp or something
I’ve been starving them honestly even though it don’t look like it, they got an initial flower tea after flip and another one about a month later, that’s it lol
Mine are outdoor with the days getting longer by 2 min 10 seconds currently and noticed new pistil growth this time last year finishing up a sweet tooth so that’s where id be suggesting it’s connected
The problem u had and why they flowered is they must have started on a 18/6 or 24/0 then put outside, can’t do that with photos in our area, they really need that month of less light hours and seeing the days getting longer before they are sexually mature. I’m literally starting my seeds this week with 13/21 popped so far and should be in their starter 3 gallons by the 21st for spring solstice planning to run all summer. Prob could have waited a few weeks and been more solid on longer days, but there was this itch that needed to be scratched popping some beans haha
Pretty damn awesome all these other az growers are coming out the shadows landing on my posts! Rock on growmies!!
Take a good look at my setup guys, does shading em or tarping anything really seem practical for me?
Jack herer circled on left and white rhinos on right
Next big concern would be consistency, not always home at the same times everyday and from my experiences inconsistencies are usually what pisses off the plants and sometimes throws balls up consequently which I guess wouldn’t matter since even if they did form there’s no time to pollenate anyways 🤷
I think you could shade them if needed. I’m not outdoor so I dont know much about it.
Repins is a 30 year outdoor grower
I just don’t see shading em creating complete darkness keeping em asleep for that little longer unless I’m throwing a dark blanket over em daily , way to much light penetration in this house, the smallest crack is gonna keep em awake anyways and just piss em off
I like being in control lol.
The seeds will probably be fine. Take a lower test bud
Can you put stakes in the ground around the plants and wrap black plastic around and drape some over the top, or black rubbish sacks? More darkness shouldnt hurt if you’re away?
Popped a seed out of white rhino a couple days ago and let it dry and looks pretty good to me so I cut a branch off today and gonna let it dry and see how majority are looking
Took the dried seed and popped it into some rockwool after taking the pic so by the time the branch dries I should know if that one is gonna germinate. If everything looks good in a week I’m gonna knock em down and get em processed
Sometimes fresh seeds won’t germinate right away.
Never hurts to give it a try, either way the rest on the plant still gonna get at least another week
Oh absolutely. Just don’t be disappointed if it doesn’t pop. Some seeds have it built in to wait a while before they sprout, otherwise they sprout going into fall/winter. Some genetic mutations cause seeds to sprout while it’s still in the plant, or fruit. Tomatoes have been seen with sprouts popping out of the fruit
Yup! Plants main goal is to continue itself, if all seeds popped at the same time and a hungry rabbit came by the plant would die off but then popping at different times gives them a chance for survival after that rabbit has gone for more to come up. That’s why I never understand ppl chasing fast germ in their pheno hunting and culling what took a couple extra days to hit the surface, complete waste of good ready to grow plants and whether u try to breed that trait or not, it’s never gonna consistently come back around as nature has its own ideas for survival
I can’t say I’ve ever seen a tomato seedling starting still on the plant just ones that hit the ground starting to rot
That beans nice and plump, looks better than some I’ve bought for sure, bet ya it pops👍
Did some shucking last night on that branch of white rhino, those seeds look pretty dang good to me, no white squishers and nice striping on most of em
Id say this run was a success
