Seed making time for jack herer, white rhino and banana cream pie in AZ

I assume you know this already, but for anyone thinking about planting any black/rasp berries (brambles) on the property. They spread through the soil as perennial roots, the parts above ground are bi annual. Most have veg growth first year, flower and fruiting the second year. So even if you mow them all down to the ground, they will sprout back up by the roots. That’s one of the reasons I have mine in containers, I don’t have much ground to grow in, and I wouldn’t want them to invade my neighbors backyards/gardens.

I remember it was something along those lines why they don’t survive here in az, they don’t survive the heat before they make it to fruit or a short window for fruit time, then we don’t get the freeze to break seed dormancy. There was a bunch of info I was looking into on em but it’s been like 5 years

My berry garden was inspired by my winemaking hobby, my favorite mead is a blend of blackberry, blueberry, raspberry, strawberry, and black currant. The smell of that blend of berries is unlike anything else I’ve had before, I need to make another batch just to get that smell in my kitchen again :joy:
Get this, I’m legally allowed to grow recreational weed here in Maine, but black currants are still banned, due to a disease that spreads to pine trees (Maine is the pine tree state ).

Most of the dedicated stuff and wine yeasts can be ordered online. The only real equipment you need to make just a gallon at a time is an airlock, and I highly recommend a hydrometer, a racking cane, and food grade sanitizer (starsan is awesome, it is just phosphoric acid, diluted it’s safe enough to drink or used as a fertilizer :yum:).
Get some big carols Rossi wine or check out your bottle redemption center, they sometimes set the big ones aside. Or get some fancy juice that comes in gallon glass bottles (Whole Foods apple juice comes to mind). Even gallon pickle jars work! Or even just ferment the juice in the plastic bottle it came in, but I still recomend an air lock.

Honestly, all you really need to do is keep contamination and oxygen out, juice naturally “wants” to become alcoholic, just let the yeast do the work. Difference between hard cider/beer and wine is abv, higher abv is achieved by having more sugar for the yeast to work on, but higher isn’t usually better for the flavor of the batch.

Music to my ears brudda!!!
I saw where you asked for some info from Sebring, but he’s been mia for a while, so maybe one of the other mods can offer some advice.
In the meantime, I believe you’ll need to have your original post wikified to allow people to sign up to receive seeds when the box goes out.
@Northern_Loki , could you point @AzSeaindooin420 in the right direction?

If you need something wikified, let me know. I can’t really do much on the Sebring front, he’s been somewhat preoccupied recently. If you have a question for him, PM him with a bit patience.
